That colony outfit is a bit too sci-fi to be in a fantasy game..

    Landmark isn't a fantasy game, it's a building game.

Eventually those claims will decay away and other people can build on them again. Which is a big plus from Minecraft. Building in Minecraft is easy yeah.. but only the true artists can make something great. Most of is are just cobblestone or wood buildings. :)

I hope EQN:L will grow steadily in something great once its open to the public. And yeah if you suck at building then EQN might be something to look forward to play.

You know when you play too much MMO's when your partners pants have become a rare drop.

Still it's nice to see armor that has more depth to it.

On the other side - man do EQNL servers look dead or what - lots of abandoned claims everywhere.

I guess after a while everyone gets tired of digging - hehe.

Seriously I think people are realizing the truth - only a small % of people are really good at 3D building (due to talent + previous experience).

You see awesome stuff in EQNL and you think - oh man I am going to build something awesome - and then it hits you - you suck at it.

This is when folks give up - I think it's happened in a big way already.

The reason why Minecraft is so popular:

Blocks = legos = accessibility = anyone can build something cool

The reason why EQNL is struggling:

Blocks = clay = hard to work with = too hard for average player

I agree with the outfits, they look fantastic imo. As for the low pop, I know from the forums a lot of people are just hanging out waiting for new stuff to be released and for the first wipe, since we can keep our gatherered materials and items made after the first wipe. I know my husband and son love the game, they're just waiting on the first wipe to start playing a lot more.

What happens when you log off your characters????.....

The reason Minecraft is so popular is because is a fully developed game. Right now EQNL is just a building tool. Once they add the AI and the ability to turn on PvP etc it will grow in popularity. I watch my kids play Minecraft, the building aspect is fun and all but they spend their time on servers that have some sort of fighting involved more than anything. Also struggling is a poor word for a newer game. Even a great fully developed MMORPG expects to lose 50% of its starting player base in the first 2 months. The next wave of people joining EQL aren't going to do it on March 11th when they can do it on April 1st for $40 less.

I have to agree that the colony model feels out of place, it could grow on me, saying that, the victorian model just rocks!  Still early days, but it's shaping up to look awesome.
