Elite: Dangerous: After a Successful Alpha, 3.0 Rolls Out with New Features

After a successful alpha, the Elite Dangerous team is ready to roll out v3.0 with new features and progression. Players will be able to take on what the devs called the "notoriously difficult" docking procedure in the original game to see how things have changed with a new iteration. Players will also be able to try out rudimentary hyperspace jumps and gain the ability to improve ships.

Ship upgrades include modules such as heat sinks and cargo scanners, a variety of weapons, and extend to the repair of any damage sustained in combat. They can also clear bounties and, once they have earned enough credits, even purchase a firm favourite from the Falcon de Lacy shipyards, and one of the most notorious ships in the galaxy – the Cobra Mk III.

Yeah as a gag they put the original Elite version of the Coriolis space station as the holo version of the new Coriolis station.

Nice to have a space exploration game that's actually showing progress in its development, and that after raising only ~3 million!

The only multiplayer game I'm looking forward to (I already bought ESO, so I'm not counting it). It seems that people who make this game know what they are doing. They have good ideas, realistic plans, precise vision of what they want to achieve and they are making steady progress. They don't try to make a game for everybody, that will include everything, from the beggining. Also, they actualy seem to focus more on game's development, than on marketing and creating hype. I wish this game all the best and I'm looking forward to it.

wait what? you think they need to create hype around elite? :)

let's make one thing clear: in the beginning, there was elite. and it was good.

Docking in the original could indeed be tremendously frustrating (until you got the docking computer upgrade that is). Can't wait to try this out. Looks nice. Hopefully the docking computer will still be an available upgrade. It's nice to just sit there to look at the sequence without having to control it manually.
