Dual Wield: weapons of choice

in Elder Scrolls Online

Mostly when I see people Dual Wielding weapons they are using either swords and/or daggers.

I wouldn't mind using double axes, or even maces (or hammers if they have any).

I'm just not sure the benefits of using one over the other.

Is there a preference for PvE or PvP?

For me, weapon choice is a bit unknown. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    • Dual-wielding weapons grant the following bonuses per weapon equipped...
      • Axe: 3% chance to bleed for 0(?) physical damage over 10 seconds.
      • Mace: +2.5% bonus damage to heavily armored enemies.
      • Sword: +1.25% additional damage.
      • Dagger: +2.5% critical strike.
