I liked SWG and TR is this game for me?

in The Repopulation

Played SWG from launch till NGE, and Tabula Rasa up until a few months prior to shut down. I enjoyed the player city aspect of SWG and the skill based leveling, but TR had the better combat IMO

 

Anyway my question is, is this game for someone like me? Or should I just pass on this one like the last 8 sadbox games to comes around?

    I would say the game is closer to a SWG pre-NGE and Shadowbane combined rather than Tabula Rasa.

    Yeah but was shadowbane even any good? Ive heard mixed reviews...

    Shadowbane had the best free form player political system to date. However, it was buggy. But if you didn't like PvP or didn't want it to be a focal point (end game) you wouldn't like that game. I would make the same statement about The Repopulation; however, it seems to me that a lot of the PvErs that are attracted to this game like the way missions are set up and aren't too torn up about potential forced PvP (faction vs faction contested areas) or forced PvP (nation cities areas) being most of the map.

    The problem with Shadowbane was spending weeks building up a city only to watch it get destroyed overnight. People left in droves when they couldn't stomach that. I wonder if the city seige system is going to be anything like Darkfall Online. If it is, I don't want any part of that mess.

    You should absolutely give it a shot.  I am loving it in its current state and every day is a fix and an addition to bring it one step,closer to beta and then live.  I have all those old SWG feelings coming back to me.

     I adored both games as well, my top 2 MMO's. I hope The Repopulation will be my next longtime mmo.

    Its free to try and I fully intend to. Though if it is as fully PvP centric as being said ill only be a tourist

    As an SWG player still angry about "Smedley's Folly," yeah, this is my next game. Backed it early, looking forward to living in it in four months or so.

    Unless it has changed, I think The Repop is going to have a large portion of the map that will contested PVP areas. For me, that was a serious no go. I was super stoked for this game, but I no longer follow it. I used to enjoy PVP a long time ago, but I no longer like gankfest zerging like the PVP of today. But, I digress...
