Hey all,
I've been out of the mmo scene for a couple of years, but got the itch again. The game I've enjoyed most during my mmo "youth" would be Burning Crusade WoW. I did most of the hardcore stuff in that game like doing 5-man heroics, grinding resist gear, and raiding 5 days a week (with forays into Kara/ZA on off-nights). Good times. I don't have time to raid anymore, but I'd really like to do some casual and hopefully hard content like 5-man heroics in TBC. Is there still a game like this somewhere?
To formalize, what I am looking for is:
- A game with hard 5-man dungeons. Think heroic Shattered Halls and Shadow Lab, slow 45-90 minute crawls with CC, wipes, and putting your own group together in trade chat. (Note: I am aware of 5-man challenge modes in Wow, but those things are about rushing though the dungeon with a cheesy comp, afaik.) Oh, and the game has got to have trinity, or something close to it.
- If I ever get out of 5-mans, a game where there are guilds raiding in every tier, so I can start at the button and move up. Again, think TBC: there were a few entry level guilds doing Kara, a few more doing TK/SSC, then BT/MH, like a ladder. (The opposite would be current WoW, where every guild ends up doing the latest tier as it comes out, because of free gear and LFD/LFR).
A game that has some of these features would be great. Although, I am interested in meaningful 5-mans first, and raiding second (something to do maybe if I complete the 5-man grind). Anything in existence that sounds like this? I know WildStar promised some of these things, but I am looking for a game that is out right now.
~thanks!

I would say go back to WoW. Find a good sever and a guild *the hard part* and get back into the game until the xpack coming this year. If you want a dungeon crawler, then id say Diablo 3: New beggings (Basicly patch 2.0+) Its worth giving it a shot again with the revamping of the game. Or if you want a free game Path of Exile is worth a look. Take a look at rift. currently has a free 2 play mode, but im anti f2p because of all the loop holes that exist. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reaborn is also a really good MMORPG with dungeons that are hard, lengthy and engaging.
Lastly, if you want something completly off, something like minecraft but remove the crafting and give it that RPG element, id say take a look at Cube World by Picroma.
Hopfully you find your game soon. its no fun being homeless.
