Originally posted by rojo6934 the questing system and the flawed path system are disappointing enough to me to skip the game entirely.
I have not got far enough to fully make a judgement call on them so far, only lvl 10 and path is solider which I find fun since I am a warrior and destroy things.
Well the Questing gets boring/sucks at around level 18-19.
But they capped us at 17....
Thankfully by level 15 you have both PvP and adventures to level with, which is what the game really does well. And at 20 you can add dungeons to the list.
The group content in Wildstar makes the competition look like a bad joke.
I haven't had this much fun in mmo PvP ever. That's saying a lot, I have tried them all. The twitch action mixed with strategic combat and zero PvP lag makes this game shine above all the rest in this application. I haven't tried dungeons yet however, even leveling there is always tons of things to do, plus the combat really is super fun. Another excellent thing, for me anyway, is the zones are super roomy, it does not feel locked in like FFXIV: ARR, SWTOR or ESO. The current in rivers is interesting as well, I got swept quite a ways trying to traverse one in bloodfire lol.
Well - I will give my opinion...
I have been playing Wildstar in closed beta for a month and a half now - and I actualy love it :-)
As one other guy said - it's for us who loved wow and wants more / other Lore maybe ...
As for what you said regarding PVP - I totally agree (and I love PVE much more), and regards to the rivers - you just reminded me the one thing I think they should have imoplemented and haven't (not sure why) - which is underwater combat - like in GW2 for example...
I don't care about lore at all and i don't mind if the quests are just hubs or kill etc (i don't like gw2 event quests for example). I care about crafting, housing, dungeons/raids, group world content (not zerg like gw2), a bit of pvp and lots of quality pve. I also like client to have a good performance and i don't mind if graphics are cartoony or not. I want a good UI and the convenient of AH, LFG etc. I also don't want to see loading screens. I want the world seems <complete>, not like lets say SWTOR.
Why do so many talk about the questing and leveling in general ?
Have you never played an MMO before ?!?
There are no MMO that has fun leveling. Be it quest hub, events or whatever... it's just a boring time sink that you have to go through.
If you can't play a game because of this, then there won't be any MMO at all that you will like... at least for the foreseeable future.
What everyone cares about is the endgame, and the endgame looks very promising and fun. Then you have superior housing to anything else, good crafting, very fun combat system, fun PvP, best dungeons/raids I've seen for some time... etc.
That's what keeps people in the game at the end of the day... not leveling or things like that.
That's why ESO will fail after 2 months and Wildstar could be much more successful.
I'm not saying Wildstar is the best upcoming MMO, or that you have to like it.... Hell, I'm not sure I will even play it myself, but what I said is still true.
BTW: EQ Next is on my radar too, but we haven't heard anything about it, so don't know why it's so hyped up.... All they have talked about is EQ Landmark, which is totally different from Next.... Landmark looks very interesting though

I dont care about lore/quests etc. Lvl up is just something i need to do in order to reach max lvl.
If the rest (dungeons/raids, housing, crafting, combat, pvp ) are indeed as you say, then Wildstar is for me. At least it deserves my attention
I hope it also has a client with good performance...
This game feels like WoW with different combat system.
And this combat system makes the difference,I've been playing whole weekend like a maniac because of the combat, its freaking blast.
Played for 2 hours and i agree, it feels like WoW with different combat system.
But for me it didn't make any difference. The combat system won't save this game for me.
Most of the quests are about clicking a sparkling object on the ground, which i hate from the bottom of my heart. They have taken this concept on a new level, it's even worse than in WoW.
And the UI, it's littered with icons like 'do you need more help?', 'click here to read the tutorial', 'are you sure you know how to play?'. Also the font, it's the same than in those cheap f2p asian games.
Skills have no weight; i can't feel the impact of my strike when my blade hits a mob.
And i agree with lots of others who have said WS feels more like a game than a world. I'm sure it would be a lot more fun if played with gamepad.
To sum it up, WS seems to be a fun and polished game but not exactly my cup of tea. The search continues...
and the newly revamped Walatiki bg is great. a lot of fun. it's like Warsong 2.0 but more compact and better quality.
that^ comparison just shows Wildstar shares much similarity to Wow. and much like Wow the game is certainly not for everyone. but much like Wow a large portion of mmo audience will turn to it. it wont imitate wow success imo as its different business landscape now. still i think it will offer the best pve experience in the market. and a pretty decent pvp too.
I've also enjoyed Wildstar very much. I got a beta weekend and got to level 19, so I could do a couple of dungeons and battlegrounds, and it was probably the most fun mmo experience I've had in 5 years. The questing is mmo questing, but the different kinds of quests, the mood and the challenges keep it entertaining more often than not for me. Since the combat is very fun, it doesn't feel like you're spamming the same button to max level like it happened in other notable mmos in the past. In Wildstar every regular creature forces you to keep moving, aiming, using different skills and all in all, having fun. Can't really say I ever felt like I was grinding.
I've already preordered too, but I'm not playing anymore beta to not spoil myself and keep the game as fresh as possible for my entertainment towards its final release.
Another thing to mention is that only American servers are open for the beta, and I am playing from Europe in servers that were blowing up at the limit of their capacity, yet I noticed no lag at all, neither internet or ability lag. Had some minor FPS issues here and there in heavy loaded areas that will surely get fixed, but barring that, the game's performance for a beta is just out the roof.
Can't wait to play high level dungeons/battlegrounds/raids/warplots etc. I have very high hopes in Wildstar.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.
Just before mid March got to past lvl 32. Haha not sure what to say about questing other then maybe MMO's are not for you.
Been in both beta's ESO and Wildstar. Kinda sucks that can only play on weekends anymore. Not here to sell any of them if you dont like one or the other I could care less.
For me ESO has childish questing with no challenge at all. Now if you really played both then you know Wildstar is as of now so much more polished then ESO. How is ESO at level 30? How are the quests? How about lvl 50? Yeah people that high in wildstar. Yet now days this is what people want. Kill 2-4 and your done. Go talk to so and so back and forth and your done. Look in 5 boxes kill ONE npc your done. Even Wildstar is like this at times.
For me at least I KNOW there is something to do higher up in Wildstar as with ESO I know there are things not even put in yet, that bothers me.
Anyway I was all for ESO at 1st didnt care for Wildstar at all. Not listening to what others said really helped. I just ended up having so much more fun in Wildstar then ESO. Eso was just to dead. I was really liking how easy crafting was yet for me crafting was always hard not with ESO. In Wildstar..never tried. I had more fun in ESO with that.
Are they worth $15 a month? No. I think something has to change those days are almost gone. The world is not getting better. Every day more and more people are losing job and CO's moving over seas
I found the highlighted comment interesting. Can you elaborate and give some examples to flesh out what you mean by ESO having more childish questing than Wildstar?

ESO is good in its own way. but lets not sway from the topic.
would be nice to have on topic discussion rather than senseless debate.

You should keep an eye on it, and don't make an opinion too fast on it... Too many players see the graphics and the quest hub thing, and think it's a fail.....
At the same time, I can't be sure how good the game is in endgame and all, but it has potential.
About the performance of the client.... You should know that currently the Beta isn't optimized, so most people get very low fps... so in case you see a video from it, or play the beta, remember that it will be optimized for release, and just like every other game, it will run smooth on release. This is the case with all betas, but a lot of people don't know this and complain....
EDIT: Also, unless you already know it, Elder Scrolls Online is not for you.... Endgame in that game basically consists of PvP and..... more leveling... lol
I don't care about lore at all and i don't mind if the quests are just hubs or kill etc (i don't like gw2 event quests for example). Do you think Wildstar is for me?
They only thing currently lacking is a bit of optimization regarding FPS. This is beta to it is expected, every mmo I have every tested for has this issue, except Rift, they generally sort it out. As for everything else it hits it dead on the head, would be perfect for you.

My list of required features is pretty much the same than yours. Still, after trying Wildstar i had to admit it was not the game for me.

**Crafting: Check. The crafting is quite fun, with high level of customization and very rewarding. You can add custom stats to the items you create, so "The Sword of Doom" of Jonny McDoe might be completely different from yours.
**Housing: Check. It's also fun and with many options. You get to stake your claim around level 14, and the terrain you get for yourself is huge. You can build pretty much anything, and there are lots of challenge/hidden/achievement rewards for your claim that are always cool to add, knowing that not everyone will have them.
**Dungeons/Raids: Check. This is what personally draw me into Wildstar. Back to hardmode/challenging 20/40 man raids? Hell yeah. I can't wait to get there. If you love challenging group PvE content, Wildstar is definitely what you want to play.
**PvP: Check. You can join your first BG at level 6 already. Second opens up at 10-12, something like that. The two BGs I've tried were both a blast. At max level there is Warplots, a whole new take on mmo PvP that looks very appealing. Plus there's always the open world cross-faction PvP.
About lag and performance, I agree with the OP. There's no server lag or ability lag whatsoever, even in the beta. The FPS suffer here and there, especially in cluttered areas with high density of particles and effects, but those problems do tend to get fixed rather hastily.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.
