So they might have slight advantage at the start. Long term yall will be fine so

If you care to read anything other than the first and last post in this topic you would know. Otherwise take your ignorance with you out of this thread.

As an Australian Gamer this is seriously nothing to get worked up about, Especially when they have plans to move you over after a few weeks.

I see these  "hot" topics on the front page and try not to get baited in but holy shit this is scraping the barrel for something to get mad over.

As to the OP , well it might affect PVP and I heard that PVP is one of the main aspects of ESO.

I play SWTOR on a US server and have no visible lag ( Im in the UK ), but mind you I don't PVP.

Looks like SWTOR got something right after all , it opened with EU and US servers and her sister game wont , shame SWTOR 1 - 0 ESO.

For me is not even the ping/lagg that make my complain.

I pay the same as anyone to get access to game and i dont recive the correct service.

They could say "ESO will only be locate on NA" and thats it, lot of games do that, but no, there will be EU servers but not on launch, pay the same but dont get the same.

Its threads like this that really make me lose faith in the evolution of mankind.  Seriously.  Do you really think all this crap is true after seeing testing that proves you have 0 yes ZERO latency that will affect gameplay......

Hmmm...while I'm US, according to my map of importance they do rate their own server...

I am literally out of words if this is the case.

What's your problem? There ARE two servers - US and EU. At the start of release EU server will be in US, because that way it will be easier for them to access it and fix any major problems if there will be. A bit later on after the release they will seamlesly transition the server to the EU. It's already in place and almost ready. Transition won't cause any trouble for players, it will happen smoothly with no downtime, maybe a couple of minutes.

You won't have lag WHATSOEVER. IF you even want you can always keep playing in US. ALL betas were in US. And people from EU had no lag whatsoever, no game disadvantage to US players.

Why are you being so butthurt with your "I am out of words if this is the case"?

People these days will find any reason to get "upset".

    COMPLETE BS!

Umm having additional 100+ms of latency is a big deal - otherwise why would they bother even having a EU based megaserver?

Oh yeah - that's right - because of lower latency for EU players.

There is no excusing this - they F'd up - their german datacenter wasn't ready in time - it's a screwup, there's no denying it.

Being upset over not having an EU based datacenter for EU players - to me that's warranted.

Can you imagine the outcry if US players had to play on EU servers????

    C'mon - get real.

In PvP 100+ms of additional latency is HUGE - my latency to US TESO servers is below 20ms, now compare that to someone who is in 180+ms in EU - it's a huge advantage for me.

i have been playing MMO and multiplayer online games for more than 10 years, and im not from US, so my ping was always 190 - 220 ms,  when people complaing because they have a ping of 100ms i just laugh.   Also im a PvP player, a ping of 220ms never was a problem, not even on FPS games.

US players wont be playing with EU players even if the servers at launch are all located on US. So i dont see whats the big deal about this.

This was officially the last Bethesda game I have ever and will ever purchase. I am so done with this bullsh*t.

    1. They said there would be no EU server at launch...like...weeks ago.

    2. Every EU person who has played on the US servers had no latency issues

    3. They have already said they will have a server based in the EU open up shortly after release.

    4. Did I mention the EU players I met had no lag playing on US based servers?

You try so hard to act non biased don't you? the guy who is being quoted was extremely rude. I share the same sentiments as Bigdaddy and ESO fans are getting very obnoxious with their rude replies to anything slightly negative.

Its amazing that you would even try to defend such people and instead target bigdaddy. He didn't say anything rude.

If its okay for you to have 500ms ping for millions of europeans it is not. I uninstall everything that gives me more than 120ms ping. Probably that is why I never got hooked into Age of Wushu. The combat was simply clunky in the NA server. Given there are hundreds of games that keep my ping below 100ms, I don't see a reason to stick with teso for what could be couple of months before it gets better. Especially since we all know that MMOs lag a lot at launch even at regional servers.

Alright mr pro PvPer, find a server you have 200 ping in Counter-Strike or Battlefield or Call of Duty and please try to make a kill against me if I have 80ms or less. I double dare you. I want a responsive game and I want to play it the way the devs meant it to be played. Not me fighting the ping, nope. Long gone are the days that I would pop a skill sooner while calculating the ping beforehand, NO. Simple no.

Most of the internet in the USA is terrible, compared to over seas. My guess is I will get worse lag than any one over seas. My ping runs around 100-300 to MMOs, like SWTOR, WOW ect... Minus the people who live in citys, most people in the USA, dont have good internet. I download at 130kbs, and upload at 10kbs. I just got moved to this from dial up like 3 years ago.

The cable company wants 80 grand for them to run cable to my house, which is like 2 miles from their line. The phone company wont upgrade there lines out here. I can tell you some people dont even have my speeds, and have to use dial up, or worse sat internet, which gives you 1000ms ping.

Most self respecting people simply use Verizon or Google Fiber where available.

If I was you I would just tether network from my smartphone's LTE to my desktop. Which I often do in here when my connection goes AWOL. You just need a good dataplan. Gw2 makes ~50mb every 2-3 hours.

Lol  like cell phone high speed internet  has the whole country covered. I dont even get normal cell service let alone high speed internet.

It is unfortunate I agree, but I believe it won't be long for it to be "stable". I'm quite sure that "stable" is simply refering to opening the servers, waiting for the population to balance out and closing the over flow servers. I hardly believe it will last long before the server is moved over.

Our testing has now confirmed that millions of players from Europe (and beyond) can play on our North American server and experience ESO as it was designed—without latency or lag problems.   -Zenimax official statement.

    FULL PARAGRAPH BELOW:

In addition to gameplay changes, your time in testing also helps us to address and plan for less obvious improvements as well.  The worldwide interest in ESO is gratifying but staggering, and each test we run allows us to prepare for a large number of players during our launch phase, and allocate resources as needed. We have constructed large datacenters in North America and in Europe to support this game. North America is fully operational and our European datacenter will be soon, but we have found during our beta tests that the location of these servers is not going to affect the gameplay experience. Our testing has now confirmed that millions of players from Europe (and beyond) can play on our North American server and experience ESO as it was designed—without latency or lag problems. (Please note that users in our last scale test had lag issues, especially in Cyrodiil, but this was a game bug, not a location issue – all players, no matter where, experienced that particular problem).  So, regardless of a player’s location or the datacenter being used, the confirmed efficiency of our platform architecture will prevent anyone from enjoying a gameplay advantage. And as both datacenters become fully operational, we will continue to add capacity to meet the demands of gamers worldwide.

So i guess they must give that time period to EU players free of sub. As many say here, it wont take long anyway until they transfer the servers, so no problem to them either.

This, is the point. But this was never stated in Any information they have put out yet. So it only is in their best interest to speak out the truth right from the beginning and not give this vague excuse of "some time after launch"

Could be half a year later. Competitive PvP is unplayable with ms greater than 150+. Heavens, you even notice 100ms compared to 50.
