I wonder. WHAT been taking this game so long to get moved to NA?

MMOExposedMMOExposed Member RarePosts: 7,400

I been curious about this. This game had so much hype. It even released already in another area of the world correct?

So why so little news about the NA version. why has it taken so long?

Whats going on?

They are polishing it for the West but afaik if they want something done they'll have to inquire XL Games. I suppose XL Games are not the fastest company at the moment, with impending release in RU

XL games is also working on another game. Trion just got back from Korea around a month ago, so things should be speeding up now.

That's great news, unfortunately it is already too late for Archeage.

     I have the same feeling...

Its like when you look for a partner and go to clubs =)

You are waiting for something good. Maybe a date thats been canceling one or two times...

All of a sudden you find your self a partner that is good enough =)

Same thing with mmos i guess... Waiting kills it

    Too late? Lol.

No major AAA game in the west has the combined features to compete at this time. If you are looking for an open world PvP guild vs guild game with lots of sandbox features...

If this were another standard themepark, you'd have more of a point.

well, they know this game failed...

so they brought it to russia, where it could fail too.

after that fail it will come to europe, to fail here, and when that happened...

they will release in the states, because you guys don't believe anything happening over here, you will buy it, even after 3 fails :P

Well in the recent Trion interview Q&A thing they did, they said they have been working on translating the over 1.5 million lines of text as well as testing and balancing and choosing which mechanics and design features they want in their version of the game.

I think archeage is gonna fall short.  Most new competitive pvp style mmos coming out have innovative combat systems and that's their selling point.  The day of the tab target in pvp is passing...archeage will feel that pain I think.

The game will be F2P - you won't have to buy it in EU/US

Also "failed", yeah - umm - Korea/China/Japan/Russia, coming to US/EU.

    Interesting definition of failed.

    This ^^

I m waiting for AA too. I think it will be a fine game. Genre needs a good sandbox.

Until then Wildstar will be my home :)

Technical work is the biggest bulk - integration with Trions billing/account database - also they are working on trimming out Korean features that don't make sense in the west (dailies, labor point caps, removal of p2w shop items, basically lots of 1.0 controversial features)

They want to make the game be closer to sandbox basically.

Ah, that makes sense, thank you.

ya like the technical ability that took that patch so long to get out.....for english that they now are blocking you via email account and then stealing your bandwidth turning you into a torrent client without authorization.

and the english patch out there no one got paid for.....people being paid taking forever ....REALLY????who'd a thought....

Lots of people saying that it's too late for AA. I've been reading this for 2 months now.

Yet those same people come here everyday to check the news, hoping to see a release date or to post that it's too late again

Just admit, you can't wait, like me, to play this fu**ing awesome game *-*

For an asian created game, the NA market is the highest risk.

    Lulz

I honestly think it may have been an overreaction to bad sub numbers during the f2p craze era.  I think that overreaction triggered the f2p conversion for a game that was never meant to be f2p. That conversion made the game worse.

    Here are the reasons:

    • Making the game support three languages in the same version.  The other regions don’t need to do that – They’re all single-language.  (…so we can ship in our US and EU languages…)
    • Integration with our account system   (…so people can log in...)
    • Integration with our patching service (…so people can update…)
    • Integration with our operational system (…so we can run the servers at scale on our cross-continent infrastructure in the US and EU…)
    • Implementation of game customizations for the western audience (…so the game is properly amazing…)
    • Integration with our billing/wallet/mtx system (…so the game’s model can be the one that will make it the biggest, most enduring success, and fits in with western expectation of free yet fair…)
    • Integration with our data services (…both so we have the ability to answer customer petitions with useful information, and we can understand how the game’s being used…)
    • Implementation of the elements for our business model (…so the model fits the audience and the game...)

The "gold-standard" mmo to Korea and Russia is Lineage, while to NA is WoW.

Archeage is much more related to Lineage than WoW, so Archeage is (teoretically) more fitted to Russia and Korea playerbase than westerners. The NA crowd is more fitted to themepark wow clones with a "carebearish" touch.

.... it's not too late for a NA launch. But if they drag it out to an xmas launch that will not go over good i feel. Game is ready for beta now,Time to get it going.
  • KarteliKarteli Member CommonPosts: 2,646

Trion said at GDC that closed beta would start in the "coming weeks", as the expanded alpha finishes up.

There was some careful wording, which could be misinterpreted, but it seems CBT for NA / EU may be tied into preorders, aka pre-launch supporter packs.  There is a beta signup as well as an added invite chance.

Elder Scroll isn't going to slay anyone. It's not even remotely on par with Skyrim and will likely be F2P in a couple months. ArcheAge is screwed because it got Wowified for the West, making it just another poor clone. The ridiculous immersion breaking cash shop doesn't help either. Yeah fantasy players really want people driving around in race cars......
