I haven't played GW since it first came out and I was very disappointed it didn't have 2 handed swords and or axes to use... have they changed this yet in the recent updates or does anyone know if they're planning on putting them in? Just curious... thanks.

Hmmm I think they will put dual wielding in at some point, cuz everybodies kinda asking for it, but I also think this will add some new skills and stuff so I dont see this happen w/ chap 2
for example: 2 swords attacks a warrior with shield, new skill could be something that 2x faster attack speed but the warrior with a shield could use a new stance to block this attacks off or something like this...
The game will be off balance if they would just 'put' it in... 2 swords = more power and it will sort of make my uber expensive shield worth 210g for NPC merchant
So my answer is, it will come, just when... idk
Any particular reason why you wanted 2 handed swords and axes?
Hmm... not sure if you understood what I ment. I'm not talking about dual wielding weapons I'm talking about 2 handed weapons IE Claymores, Massive Long swords that require you to have 2 handes on the handle to wield.
Yes actually, User preference. In other games I've never cared for a sword and shield or dual wielding weapons... having 2 handed weapons wouldn't unbalance the game... just add some choice to character development.
Example:
1 handed sword does 1-10 damage and has a 3.5 attack speed and the shield adds 200 AC.
2 handed sword does 5-15 damage and has a 4.0 attack speed.
You do more damage per swing however you may not last as long as a tank... so its user preference. Was just curious if they're planning on adding them to the game or not but it doesn't sound like it.

This makes sense and perhaps they will have then in chapter 2 hopefully for you. Seeing as anet has a hammer in game that does more damage per hit with a slower attack rate perhaps they can do the same for 2 handed swords and axes have a larger damage range and slower attack rate. So like current sword does 15-22 base damage at at rate ~1.33 seconds, axe 6-28 base damage at rate ~1.33 seconds and hammer 19-35 at rate ~1.75 seconds. Perhaps the 2 handed swords could be like 18-28 at rate ~1.54 seconds and 2 handed axe 8-35 at rate ~1.54 just to throw out some idea. Perhaps we will see something in chapter 2. Guess will find out soon enough. You are the 1st I have seen suggest the idea of 2 handed swords and axes and the concept sounds interesting.

Sounds good but the comps don't look as good after I did them... however they could still work I mean the 2 handers could do more DPS then the 1handers however to offset that the 1handed weapons get AC from the shield plus they could do something like make the 2handed weapon abilities/skill have longer cool down times.
I don't see why they wouldn't put them in eventually... I know I'm not the only one wondering where those massive 2handers are hehe. Besides having weapons like that in games always make freaks like me happy
FYI if your interested:
[current] sword DPS of 13.91
1hd axe DPS of 12.78
2hd hammer DPS of 15.43
2hd sword DPS of 14.94
2hd axe DPS of 13.96
On the article on Gamespy about Guild Wars:Factions if you are in the Assassin profession then you can dual wield weapons.
"The one who begins with nothing, gains everything slowly."
Of course there is the possibility that they be added as one of the free updates between chapters too.
not yet but aparently with this expantion theres gonna be something like that :P
