I was watching some videos on character creation and notice I can't make a black character. This really sucks. Is there any human race in the game where I can make a black character.

Dude, Redguards are based off Moorish people, black people. ESO is like the only game like this. Here my fellow brother listen at how our people arrived in Tamriel. Redguards
The Dark Elves (Dunmer?) all are dark complected; some of the other races may have darker complexions in their options during character selection; Bretons? Redguards? I'm going by memory, so I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that Orcs can have darker complexions, too, if you don't mind having miniature tusks... I don't know, I thought some of the orc female NPCs in the game (during Beta) were kind of hot, if you're into 3D mathematical rpresentations of the female anatomy...
I imagine ZOS was trying to stay true to the lore of the Elder Scrolls series of games, so they only would have allowed what was true to lore.
I didn't get a chance to do the beta. Since I got the 5 day head start, I'm was excited to make a black nord but its ok, I guess the Red guard will do. I'm not freaking out but didn't know.

ESO is largely based off of real world history and races. I could technically make a Breton and it is basically my heritage or a large part of it (real world Breton that is) .

There are darker skin tones for all the races I wouldn't be surprised if you could make a "black nord". I just don't remember how dark you can go.

I don't remember a very dark option for them when I looked at them in beta but could be wrong. I know one can make a "brown" Breton with dark hair that makes them look far more like Red Guard.

I didn't think you were freaking out, then I looked at our avatar and thought this dude is really freaking out. I know you want to go human, but you could go Khajiit and make a black panther and RP some serious shit.
Don't you Remember Erudites from Everquest 1....they were a race of Black islander's who were really smart and good with magics
That was the best race of black people in any game if you are old enough to have Played when the game was brand new
then they ruined Erudites in Everquest 2 and turned them into Aliens or something....sooooo stupid
EverQuest 2 hosed up a lot of the lore. I was Highly disappointed when that came out. I've never been a Themepark hater, but that particular one made me feel claustrophobic. I thought the level design was awful. I didn't stick around too long for that one. Played SWG and then WoW instead. Though, the only reason I went to WoW was because they tried to make SWG "WoW in Space." and it didn't work. Then irony of ironies, what is SWG replaced with? SWTOR? Which was WoW in Space...but with BioWare stories.
Okay, I've ranted on that enough.

Crowd: A BLACK NORD?!?!?!?!
The Black Nord: (indignantly) And why not? It worked in Blazing Saddles!

I was a little disappointed on this as well. I generally play a character of dark skin, and it really annoyed me that I was confined to either a Redguard or a Dark Elf.

Well, it's important to remember that most ESO human races are based on cultures from our own history.
Redguard = Moors
Breton = Anglo/Saxons (mostly British)
Imperials = Ancient Rome
Nords = Vikings
If it helps, Don't look at them as racial choices. They are all human anyway. So, you're not picking a race in so much as you're picking an ethnicity or culture. Also, if you don't mind playing a character that isn't Human or Elf, the Argonians and Khajit can both have dark scales and fur.

I'm not sure how dark one can get a nord's skin. It might not be a dark as the op would want but maybe it will suffice.
I suppose we'll see.

This is still a massive downgrade from the other games in the franchise. In any other Elder Scrolls game you could make any race brown or black skinned... even a nord or wood elf.

I tested it. The darkest you can get with a Nord is the shade of a summer tan.
I can understand why a developer might think this type of thing makes sense, especially in a Medieval fantasy based game. In standard "Medieval Fantasy" literature, races tend to not be mixed, and apparently people don't travel much either. So the idea of a family of Red Guards moving into Nord territory and setting up shop for a couple generations is just (in their minds) impossible.
Then again, this kind of thing doesn't really come up with non-human races. Nobody ever wonders why there isn't a family of orcs living in a troll village for several generations, talking and acting like trolls in WoW. It's only the human races that are expected to have a wide variation in skin tone and features. Maybe the humans being distinctive is just an extension of other races being distinctive.
Meh. If I were writing a game, I'd either skip humans entirely, or people would be able to pick their human features as they wanted. I'm not a developer though, so I won't ever get to do that.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
