It can be quite confusing and overwhelming trying to come up with a build that you will enjoy in ESO because of the insane amount of choices you have. Every class can really be played as any role as well so there really is no limit to what you want to be and how you want to play it. I have been making some builds over the last month (all play tested) that people may be interested in or might just like to see some reasoning/discussion behind abilities. It may change some peoples mind on exactly what they want on their hot bar. Anyway would like to see some other peoples builds too so post yours if you don't mind others seeing it! Links below, enjoy.

Fire Mage DK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PWCr57CasQ
I have gone mostly with the traditional builds for those who want to stick with the classic style of MMORPGs, but I will likely be playing the Fire Mage DK myself, although I seem to change my mind almost daily. If you have any questions on the builds ask away too!
EDIT: Also links to the ESOhead builds in the description of each video if you don't want the explanation and reasoning!

Hah, seems we have similar thinking, however I am going to go pretty full on healing spec/heal staff. (with some in 2 handed weaponfor the leaps/knockdowns)
---
I was thinking a 2handed weapon, heavy armor wearing, healing spec Templar, with a healing staff in my offhand.
I definitely want to heal, and maybe cloth armor would be a better choice for "mana", but man heavy armor looks cool, and I do want to PvP a lot, and I think that a 2handed wielding healer might be "less of a target" than say a cloth wearing healer.
But...who knows! I think I may do the 2handed heavy armor wearing templar first, just hope I can "primary" heal with my heal spec templar using a 2 handed sword...or I suppose when "main healing" i will use my heal staff.
Oh and I will be the cat race in the ebonheart alliance :-P
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
I just find it hard to give up that 15% exp bonus haha but I guess it is just while you are leveling. I only really skimmed over the Dunmer and after seeing all the +Stamina and dual wield exp I kind of wrote it off. Might have to go with it now though!

As an Old DaoC Fart, i'll go for a "Thane" Build.
So that is Mage + Plate Armor + 2Hand Sword. I tried that already at the Beta Weekends and what should i say; I had Goosebumps that it worked so well
Aerowyn's Video Compilation of ALL things Guild Wars 2
Some builds like the fire mage Dk are clearly overpowered.. I would keep my hands away from those classes.. Or the nurfbat might make you very unhappy some day..
personally i am going to play a dualwielding templar selfhealing tank...or die trying.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
DAoC had the best classes of any game ever....
Mentalist, Reaver, Sorcerer, Healer, bonedancer...
But the class i will never forget was my Bard... The most fun class i ever played, espescially in PvP.. (Tough reaver came very close in pvP). But then Bard rocked in PvE too, easy to get groups, fun soloing..
so how would you recreate the DAoC bard in ESO?

That's what id like to play too, I pre ordered from Amazon but didn't play the beta because I want the game to feel fresh when I do get to play it. One thing I'm worried about is do I put points in Magenka or Stamina with that build? Can you respec the points or could I completely gimp my character if I make the wrong decision?
I also like the idea of a duel wielding sorcerer.
Given that you have a 25% chance of playing the FOTM class at any time (more if you level up multiple characters). I don't see any reason to stay away from them. If it gets nerfed you can easily swap in this game. In fact, the more people that exploit the OP classes the better, because they will get fixed faster.
If you are going for a Thane build, the whole idea of the class revolves around Odin and using hammers. So, using a sword really makes no sense here. I'm making a similar class, though, using a hammer and light/heavy or light/medium armor mix (depending on soft caps), due to the reliance on magic damage as a supplement to physical damage.
Just need a AoE spell, single target bolt, weapon buff and some weapon skills, like a charge and a knock down. Should work quite nicely.
You can respec. Where you put your points depends on where most of your damage is coming from. Which depends on the skills that you choose.
I just pre-ordered, only noticed the game about to launch a couple days ago. Thinking of making an Orc Dragonknight, but there's very little information on their main page and their beta forums have apparently been wiped. You guys have any advice? I have 17 hours to kill before early access starts, may as well get some education.
Visit Tamriel Foundry. They have a lot of information about skills, races and alliances that you may find useful.
Good advice, thanks. Actually started looking through that before posting, heh. Seeing the racial bonuses is what made me think of making an Orc. Once I read "sprint faster, sprint more" I began to feel the WAAAAAGGH! as that just seemed like something I'd never get tired of and use a lot in PvP. However, since I wasn't in the beta, for all I know those bonuses amount to nothing noticeable or can be gotten from items anyway. Anyone have any experience with the sprint racial bonuses?
Check out the Traditional Tank build, if you were planning on playing that Orc Dragon Knight as a tank. I chose the Imperial but the Orc works just as well, I actually tested the Orc in the first Beta I got into. Will give you an idea on skills you might want to use anyway!

I haven't actually played DAoC but I know a bit about it.
Perhaps a Templar with med armour, sword and board, with some of the templar AoE and CC skills, and one of the heal skills?
Also lots of /lute /drum and /flute
The servers will open tomorrow and I still don't know what I'll be playing.
I know I'd like to play Redguard for the looks and starting zones. But they don't seem to fit well with sorcerers.
I'll just have to trust the devs on this and assume that there are no weird and completely useless combinations.
Redguard passives don't really fit with a mage because they are based around stamina and melee combat. That being said if you don't care much for min/max it isn't really an issue. Also if you preorder you can join any alliance regardless of your race, meaning you can choose your starting zone.

Likely the best suggestion. Sadly many things can't be properly duplicated with the current skill trees offered. The great thing is that more skill trees appear to be a primary focus for content additions for ZOS. I look forward to more as outside of the class skills for the build I am making there isn't a great deal of other trees that interest me other than cherry picking some powers. The game could benefit greatly in the long run with a greater spectrum of skill concepts. I fully believe this will happen over time anyway.
You stay sassy!
Well that's the question isn't it. How much difference does it make in the long run. I'm not freaky in maxing my character, but it would be stupid to completely ignore racial (dis)advantages if they end up to be huge.
I'm trying to figure out how much I lose but meh, it's such a struggle haha. I have a feeling I'll have to create a new character once I better understand the synergy between race, class, weapons and armor.
Yeah it is actually pretty rough trying to put together a build, especially if you haven't really been following the game, because of all the options and the way Zenimax have done things. I feel like you gain quite a bit having the racials align with your class/build but if it is going to ruin your experience then I wouldn't worry about it. I generally like to play the human or nearest to human race as well but it doesn't fit with what I want to do and I guess it doesn't worry me too much!

Nope. Altmer also...until recently just as much as Dunmer but they just got nerfed down to 4% since theirs also increases ice and lightning by the same amount + they get quicker access to the higher staff skills since they level it 15% faster...not a biggie eventually but handy as you level.

2h sword dragonknight, but i am not sure yet whether thats good. i am only level 9 so far and got my first ultimate yesterday.
i dont know better so i put 1 staff, 1 2h sword, and one of each class skills on my bar to level them up. against one enemy this build rocks. charge, then that one skill which knock down, then the one skill which is rather cheap does good damage with a great dot, then knck down again, then heavy attack.
against more than one its sometimes very hard, except i have my ultimate available.
so far, i dont like the combat system, its too much console game. i am not overwhelmed by this game at all because of the console ame feeling. wont subscribe.
but might be quite good on a console though but i dont have one.
My main is a 19 Sorcerer specializing in destro and resto, Currently using mostly the resto to level it up...which is much easier to do after you have fleshed out the sorc an destro skills 1-15. I also have a couple of fighter's guild abilities (silver bolts and circle of protection) mixed in since they use stamina and are good CC and shields.
I was grouped with another sorcerer earlier tonight who was using dual-wielding + sword and board. He was mowing through stuff really well.
