Noob Query - On Classes

in Final Fantasy XIV

Can I level up one toon on all classes? 

 

I picked a Marauder on my first roll, done a little bit of crafting and it seems whatever you have equipped determines the class/role/job etc.  So can I level up a single toon on everything? Or am I limited to like a primary and secondary role, for example Marauder+Gladiator?  Or limited to disciplines associated with just Disciples of War? So no magic use etc.   Just a little confused at the moment,what is allowed, and my searches so far have made it as clear as mud.
 

(Apologies if the terminology is all wrong)

    Yes, you can take a single character and level up all classes and jobs on that one toon.
