I have yet to play a no-subscribe, no-box, cash shop game that maintenanced regularly. Not patched. Truly attempted to fix all the problems with their game. F2p games feel like I'm riding a lame horse in the Grand National. I'm pro f2p btw because I think poor people need gaming also (those in medical conditions that make getting out difficult or those who need stress relief from working all day in a shit job while the boss yells make the greedy top dog more money, etc). But for as much money as a cash shop game brings in you would think they could stop PRETENDING they're broke. I mean, it's not a government job.
Ever play a free to play game you respected for their smooth operations?

LoTRO was awesome for years. Neverwinter was excellent for like the month or two that i played. Firefall. I can probably think of a few more. But i generally prefer sub games anyway. And i hear Rift is doing good that it's free also.

Neverwinter isn't borked but it also has little depth.
I would say Rift but its a freemium game not F2P so I wont count it. I would say no, but am hoping Landmark changes that.
PoE, Marvel Heroes, LoL, WoT, STO .. very many.
Play Marvel Heroes, you can buy pretty much everything from playing the game.
Best f2p game ever.

yeah .. no money is needed to enjoy the game (in fact, i finished the story content with two heroes already without paying a cent) .. and they sometimes give out free goodies.
I just got a free Storm in their weekend promotion.
This.
Grinding Gear Games pretty much set the gold standard for service in Free to Play games of any genre.
The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)

Yeah .. it is hard to compete with free. The only one that may have a chance is ESO .. and we will see how it does soon.
Ugg... none of the ones anyone has mentioned at all. Quite frankly, I really dislike the whole f2p thing entirely. The moment it goes f2p all the games seem to go downhill. Considering that most games report a sudden windfall of money on going f2p they do very little with it but pad the pockets of the owners of the game.
For example... I actually paid for three months of LOTRO and currently do have an account on SWTOR. The housing in LOTRO is still absolutely terrible. For a AAA game, I expect more. It's sad when EQ2 has better housing and game play then LOTRO. In the last two months, I haven't logged into any other game than LOTRO and that's only in the past week. I'd cancel SWTOR but I want to experience their housing first.
I'm waiting for a game that supplies more than this. They claim to be next gen but none of them have any idea what that means and none of them seem to understand that the lack of anything other than linear story line game play and pvp is exactly why these games are losing their players in the first place.
There are a few games that I have hopes for... but that's all it is. And right now I don't trust one of them to actually do what they say.
