My main is a 19 Sorcerer specializing in destro and resto, Currently using mostly the resto to level it up...which is much easier to do after you have fleshed out the sorc an destro skills 1-15. I also have a couple of fighter's guild abilities (silver bolts and circle of protection) mixed in since they use stamina and are good CC and shields.

I was grouped with another sorcerer earlier tonight who was using dual-wielding + sword and board. He was mowing through stuff really well.

Yeah a destro/resto sorc was my 2nd choice so I could switch between heals and dps but I ended up deciding to go with a tank. Works pretty well with the 2h weapon because I am already super tanky so it isn't much of an issue that I am all up in the mobs, but I can pretty easily switch between a tank and dps now. I actually lvld up to 15 and found out my old guild was running on a different alliance to rerolled. Now I have a lvl 15 and a lvl 17... haha

I know I'd like to play Redguard for the looks and starting zones. But they don't seem to fit well with sorcerers.

I'll just have to trust the devs on this and assume that there are no weird and completely useless combinations.

Redguard passives don't really fit with a mage because they are based around stamina and melee combat. That being said if you don't care much for min/max it isn't really an issue. Also if you preorder you can join any alliance regardless of your race, meaning you can choose your starting zone.

Well that's the question isn't it. How much difference does it make in the long run. I'm not freaky in maxing my character, but it would be stupid to completely ignore racial (dis)advantages if they end up to be huge.

I'm trying to figure out how much I lose but meh, it's such a struggle haha. I have a feeling I'll have to create a new character once I better understand the synergy between race, class, weapons and armor.

Racial passives give a small edge if they synergize well with your build.  However, that edge really wont be noticed if you don't pick a race that synergizes with your class choice.  You probably wont ever notice the difference unless you are an avid pvp player.  The other thing to wrap your head around is that class does not equal role.  You could be a heavy armor sorcerer that uses sword and board and mixes aoe spells to draw group aggro like a tank.  Or you could be a light armor staff wielding dragonknight that focuses on long range dps.  You could be a leather wearing templar that equips a bow and duel wields daggers that uses heals and dps spells to mix it up as a quasi ranger type.  Focus on what the skill lines have to offer and whether that mix of active spells fits your play style.

If you really want to play a mage type character that wears robes and wields a staff, you can do that with every class successfully.  Redguards wont have a lot of synergy there.  But if you think you might have a staff as one weapon and then a sword/board, two hander, bow, or dual wield as a second weapon, you might be very well served by the redguard choice.  Also, Bretons are in the same starting zones and their racials fit well with any mage type build.

I am soloing skull areas - fun stuff.

Yeah my first character I got to 15 before rerolling was a destro DK, went with the fire mage build. Felt it kind of lacked burst but was very good with sustained damage and CC. I do love the way you can be 2 things like a healer/dps or tank dps, makes it a lot easier finding groups!
