I'd pay money to see some of you guys back during WoW's first 6 months.
I don't mind maintenance as long stuff is fixed but stop using WOW as an example. It was almost 9 years ago and we have come a long way since then in terms technology and hardware.
If they are fixing bugs, its all good. But NOTHING changes the fact that WoW has to be one of the WORST all time launches of a AAA MMO in the last decade. Not saying they didn't fix the issues, but the first month was a joke!

If have to go back 9 years for a worse example then that sounds very much like denial.
That the servers are going down so often before most of the players even have access to the game is no doubt worrying, ZOS need to get their stuff together fast, because this weekend is going to be a nightmare if the game isn't robust enough to handle it.
given that its been running for 3 days, with only a little downtime, its way reasonable, and only a few quests are bugged such as Balreth, other than that, it was a pretty smooth launch

Try reading what I posted and was responding to. I'm not in denial about anything. Other games have had piss-poor launches also. WoW's stands out in the crowd . If ESO keeps having persistent problems then they will be the winner.
It is crazy how different experiences people has with this game.
Some claiming one of the most smoothest launches.
I cannot login with my account at all. I can login fine on the website, but if I try to login in game it says my login is incorrect. I have the 3 day headstart but I cannot login
I have talked to some zenimax support for a while (problem is I'm from eu so they don't answer much when I'm off from work.
They don't know what to so, they told me. They suggested to change password but that did not work. Now I'm stuck with a shit password since I cannot reset back to the old one

I guess you didn't understand what i was saying.. WOW was 9 years ago. It is kind of irrelevant given the improvement in hardware since then. The biggest issue WOW had was that they underestimated the amount of players who would be playing their game which was a lot more than they ever anticipated.
But like i said that was 9 years ago..who even cares anymore.

Me too. Seems like a lengthy update. Maybe some bug fixes?
You guys are acting like it's your first launch mmo experience.
Chill out and the game will be ready to play again.
OMG
Is it so addicting?
My physical copy hasn't arrived yet so...
This actually is my first launch mmo experience....LOL
just pre-ordered and went to work after downloading, got out of work an hour ago expecting to jump right in...I was wrong though
Yeah, it sucks especially when you have a specific limited set time when you're able to play and then you get some downtime. It has happened to those of us who have been part of MMO launches at one time or another.

I see that now...Im just a little upset that it was not scheduled, thats all, I know that it is well needed but it was unexpected

Not sure if it's related or not, but some people are trying to use their email address as their login, when they should be using their account name (not an email address). It seems most common for people who were in beta, because there was a time when we did actually log in with our email address.
Anyway, just wanted to mention that in case the issue was something stupid.

Since the maintenance wasn't scheduled, but also wasn't simply a server crash, my guess is they found some glitch or exploit that needed to be addressed ASAP. Most other things could have waited until tomorrow's scheduled maintenance.
Yeah, the downtime sucks but it's to be expected. My play time is usually from 9pm to 1am(PST) on weeknights so this maintenance hit just as I was logging on to play this evening. Not gonna bitch and moan about it or demand a refund. This sorta thing happens all the time with MMO's, especially during launch. If you can't handle it then I suggest not playing MMO's.

That seams like a good reason, still wish we were able to make and customize characters while we waited...and just not enter the game world...I know thats like asking for a half a slice of pizza but still...

WoW was launched 10 years ago though. And not many had broadband connections back in the day. Server hardware was at least 5 times more expensive and 10 times more inefficient and not to mention the bandwidth alone. Don't forget that not many cared about eco energy 10 years ago. So what WoW did 10 years ago was a freaking engineering achievement. TESO isn't.

Yeah I can attest to that, WoW / Blizzard stopped selling retail boxes in 2004 / 2005 because of a huge influx of players. This, naturally, only increased demand, as everyone saw this game as a must have .. which then furthered demand.
I went to 5 different stored back then to finally get a boxed copy. It was an offbeat store too that had it.
Many regard that as a game of huge innovation. Actually, it was.

My experience with TESO has been very smooth, to be honest. There was one beta that had a lot of crashes during the first day (funny stuff like people dying when they jumped onto the anchor to get out of the first dungeon, causing a CTD), and a few of the stress tests had slow logins, but the Bethesda has done a very good job with general stability all-in-all.
I certainly see people complaining about some issues, but that's also sort of the nature of the internet. If 800k people are have signed up, and .01 percent of them are having issues, that's still 8,000 people complaining on various forums. Those issues will get addressed, and it's unfortunate that some people are even having them in the first place, but that's just life sometimes.
But again, the game is actually performing very well. We'll see how that changes when it's officially released, and not just limited to the early access people.

so pre-order for bad launch experience got it.
