On one of your points, WildStar could have the perfect MMO launch and it wouldn't matter...the game sucks balls.

To the rest, seems sad to take such pleasure in others' misfortune.  Makes me think your life has been a rough one and it isn't getting any better.

I'm sorry to hear how your life has turned out.  My condolences.

LOL typical response I suppose. But that is also a completely wrong assumption. I dont care about these games I dont get emotionally involved in them like the fans do. The last game I 'cared' about was Lotro. And its direction made it apparent no one would ever make an epic game ever again. Because the blueprint for a perfect game is all there in Lotro.

ESO is just another game, and other in a long list of great expectations that will make everyone sad (that cares about games I guess)

The decisions they made on how they made the game notwithstanding the issues they have simply running the game are what kills it.

-Inability to have a server that can handle the stress

-Inability to comprehend and utilize phasing in 2014

    -Generic random bugs

-Ability for random people to access at least your character and maybe full account information (thats a great one there)

I am sure there are more but those four are more than enough I think.

im sorry but the ability to easily access other people's accounts and the fact that many people have not been able to log in at all for 3+ days makes this the worst launch i have ever been apart of.  i could deal with lag, maintenance or minor bugs.

    Hah,

Obviously didn't play AO, WoW, Neverwinter (Cat-popcalypse), STO, Champions Online, SWG... oh FFS, I can name so many horrible launches.

Welcome to MMO's.  And welcome to MMORPG because hyperbole is obviously your friend.

While I respect the OP's point of view, that is indeed his opinion. But in reality...this game is ******* awesome. It is better than any game out  , this is coming for someone who hasn't had that great gaming feeling ( you know what I mean ) since DAoC. You are selling yourself short if you do not get this game. We are gamers that's what we do , buy games and play them until you have dominated every aspect of the game, and then play some more if it is good and it is indeed good. It has far less bugs than game I need not mention did at release, and this is no offense "better by far" than game I need not mention is after all its expansions and its just the beginning. If you are a true gamer do not miss out on this experience , get in early , get powerful it is a blast. Have not had this much fun in an MMORPG in years.

_ps_ that trash about the launch being bad is a load of **** I'm level 22 already. Have had no issues aside from minor bugs here and there , if you have a crap rig expect issues ... if not, your solid.

To be fair, I've experienced main-quest bugs (return of the guardians for the EP, the abandoned house quest for the AD, etc).  There's been at least a handful on each faction.  And these are early on quests (levels 5-10) that I would have expected to have been resolved early.  (I think Guardians is a phasing thing though.. supposedly the logout/login fixes but I've yet to be able to get that to work so I benched that character)

I've also experienced falling through the world.  Nothing I tried would reset.  This occurred upon entering the AD ship from Coldharbor.  All I could do was delete the character.

Now, I've DEFENDED the game.  I enjoy the game.  But let's not pretend these bugs do not exist.

Probably because no MMO in the history of mankind has delivered on it's promises at launch.

For all the bugs in the game, meh, it's Elder Scrolls. If you've never played an Elder Scrolls game you wouldn't understand. Bugs are actually a standard of their gameplay. Shoot, I remember in ES:Morrowind, I played the game for 120 hours and then while off adventuring, I found some cool item in this temple. I took it and went back to town and sold it for some crazy cash! I came to find later on that it was a main quest item. Boom! Game Over! cya 120 hours, gg no re. THAT is a game breaking issue. Dismounting is not a game breaker.

Account related issues are quite serious, but also carry serious legal implications, so you can be certain if there was an issue which caused your personal info to be exposed to someone else, it would be taken down. My personal opinion is that it was probably a temporary database issue with the 3-day headstarters coming online and I'm assuming it's already been fixed.

Not defending them, but the game itself is good. Maybe your expectations are too high. I've never seen a game launch where Day 1 was flawless.

The things you mention about Morrowind were not bugs. Being able to kill people who were crucial to complete the quests was 'gamebreaking'; but working as intended. There were consequenses for your actions. Selling an item you need is no big deal as you could easily steal it back or (if you have to) kill the shopkeep and take it.

That aside, yes. Morrowind was buggy as fuck. As has every ES game. BUT. The fans fix things with mods everytime. That will not be the case here.

I have no dog in this fight. I am an ES Fanboy from the Daggerfall days (love the games) and Morrowind is imho the greatest game ever made (when correctly modded/patched)- But I am passing on this for many reasons I will not go into. Time will tell if this is as bad as it looks (I have no clue since I'm not playing) or this was blown out of proportion. Time will tell if this was merely a moneygrab looking to transition towards a cash shop game (as it looks to me)

There hasn't been anything said about accessing people's ACCOUNTS. They can access their characters, but they're still authenticated as their own user.

This is a database-related issue. To ESO the game, you're not John Smith. In fact, they don't even care what your name is. You're just 114367 and it knows to associate you to any characters that belong to 114367. Other than that, there's no link between the two. Problem is that when Timmy the Intern goes in and updates the Characters table, he, maybe, re-indexes that field. Whoops! My bad! So now your characters belong to someone random based on how it gets indexed. So now Don the DBA needs to go in and undicker what Timmy dickered. So they take the service down temporarily and they reverse Timmy's changes.

Timmy is really upset because of all the trouble he caused and all the forum hate, so he goes home and hangs himself because of all the trouble he's caused for so many people.

See what you all did? YOU KILLED TIMMY!!! Oh god, he was so young.

The gameplay itself is fairly smooth although there are a lot of bugs that were also in the beta so they didnt fix them. Also, ZoS completely ignored the beta reports of animation stuttering while jumping. That has been there since the first beta and it is still there now.

I laugh at all the people who yelled at me and others in game chat during beta saying that the buggy beta was an old build and that everything was fixed in the launch client build..... LOL in their faces

    LOL

This is where you went to far.

I mean there is something wrong with dismounting, I've experienced it as well and it's annoying but far from game breaking.

There probably are people who have lag/disconnects for various reasons. There might be someone who has lost his preorder stuff, maybe because he deleted his character or perhaps it really just dissapeared. Who knows, people may even have lost bank items.

But being in control of someone else's character is just laughable :D

It really shows what your intentions are. I have seen 0 gold spamming so far and I've been playing since sunday.

Well I have played all 3 days so far, not today yet it is down for maintenance. Anyway I came across 4 issues with quests so far. Am at level 15.  All but 1 I was able to complete eventually.

The horse dismounting is annoying. have crashed out of game 3 times. This whole people logging into other folks accounts is new as I last played 11 hours ago and none of that was being reported within the first 3 days.

Overall it has been a very solid launch for me.  The guild I am in has about 300 folks total playing atm and only 1 person has not been able to play as his screen is all black and has all his drivers up to date.

We are loving the game btw.

unfortunately the whole character thing happens to be true, how quickly they (zos) handle this problem will be definitive, but they need to get their stuff together because 2 days and the game goes live to all the rest of their customers. based on current performance, things are looking fairly bleak for Zos, the kinds of issues their having at the moment shouldn't happen, all the signs at the moment are that the game just wasn't ready for release, should be an interesting weekend, think i'll go buy a few tubs of popcorn image

If you're not trolling add this to your OP. If you are trolling, then ignore me.

    From ZOS:

Last night a few North American users reported inventory-related issues with their character account, such as seeing additional inventory items appear, or seeing items that were not earned through gameplay. We've identified and fixed the problem, but the issue necessitated some downtime overnight for the North American megaserver. This problem has not manifested on the European server, so it continues to run as normal. The fix will be implemented as soon as all required pre-testing is complete this morning.

We were already planning to push a new game build to both servers this morning, and we will continue to work towards this. Stay tuned for complete patch note shortly. In addition to this aforementioned priority fix, we are also working quickly to restore our 'send in-game mail' functionality, some content blocking fixes that are preventing some users from finishing quests, and a few other tweaks. Our goal is to have all of these fixes initiated later this morning, eastern US time.

We will update this post as soon as we have an exact timeline for the service to be restored.

I have written customer service 2 or 3 times and have gotten a response within the first 24 hrs.  I have 3 characters to level 6 and it has been one of the smoothest launches I have ever been in overall.  There are a few issues i.e. dismounting from your horse.  I solved it by pushing the H button again and amazingly you mount right back up.  2 or 3 disconnects. I logged back in right away, and was not dead or anything.  Not much else negative I can think of.
