Alchemy and enchating and proffesions overall

JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

I'm finding mats are not as easy to come by as in other MMO's, Granted im only lvl 8 so maybe its just the intial overcrowding of the early level area that seems to have left very little gatherable recourses around. I'm not complaining, I actually like having to work for mats, Just curious if this was done by design and if it going to stay this way?

I'm also confused about alchemy and how it works. In Skyrim you eat mats to find out the effect in ESO I put 2 plants into the box with 1 water bottle in the slot and create, so far I have discovered nothing and just lost my maTS , any advice on this? Am I doing it right ?

Enchanting Mats seem to be very rare as well. Through 8 levels I have only come across 3 of the stone thingys used for enchanting...

Ive gotten a lot of both mats. Im not doing either profession so I just dump them in the guild bank.

I'm also unsure if there is some sort of indication for failed combinations. This will be even worse, considering that eventualy we'll be able to make potions with three reagents.

I find enchanting stuff everywhere. Alchemy less so. Provisioning are in crates and barrels. For alchemy it is randomly combining to find properties. Mad scientist like or look online for sites listing properties. If you fail to create a potion you will not learn a property.

That should help you from wasting mats. Basically you the plants have to have a similar trait for them to work when combining.

I'd get the keen eye for alchemy. Many of the plants are hard to see until you know what to look for.

For enchanting I've had trouble finding enough aspect and potency runes. I'm doing fine with the essence ones since I constantly get those from deconstructing them.

Many crafting skills are hard to level solo. You have to trade with another player to get the full IP from deconstructing. When deconstruct your own items you get very little IP.

If you turn of grass in options, it's a LOT better.  I don't care for the grass on high rez to begin with.  But that's just me.

The only part that makes me sad is that there are so many GOOD plant models, some of the models they used for the actual alchemy plants is a bit of a letdown.

You can eat the flowers only to reveal their first recipe.

I'm level 8 also and I have not found a single cooking recipe yet so my bank is overflowing with cooking matts. I too am enjoying having to work stuff out something I haven't done for a very long time in MMO's.

I find cooking recipes in desks, nightstands, and shelves.

This and trunks. I've gotten quite a few at the Daggerfall bank in the trunk behind the banker.

Cooking recipes seem to magically appear in my bag when i level Provisioning.

Get a good guild, say "I WANT TO BE YOUR "alchimist" then they drop all their items into the box. Thats how I do it, works great having no problems leveling up my blacksmithing.

Cooking seems to be the one profession I have NO TROUBLE at all with. Loads of cooking mats and recipes in crates trunks dressers you name it all over tamriel. My cooking is at lvl 9 or so while the rest are lvl 2 maybe 3 tops.

Yeah, problem with that is I want to play the game at my own pace and not feel obligated to sit there and craft all day for guildies because they provided the mats.....

Zerg Keen Eye 2 in Alchemy. Once you've got that sucker you'll be able to easily spot plants all over.

Also, you can eat the plants to learn the first property just like you can in Skyrim.

I really enjoy alchemy. I'm pretty sure the demand of the ingredients will be very high after a few months since we seem to gather them in low quantities and any of them can be useful.

As above only eat the plant the first time to learn 1 random trait of it and the 2nd level of keen eye is insanely useful. Some of the plants can be really hard to spot normally.

Just double click the plant in your inventory like any other consumable. You'll eat it and learn the first property.

Guess I'll toss in another tip: areas marked as farms on the map generally seem to have significantly more alchemy plants. This isn't scientific, by any means, but I seem to have better luck finding mats around these areas.

You just eat them by clicking them like you would a consumable
