This game is not like Skyrim, this game is more like GW2.

If you liked GW2 (which means you are stupid), then go buy this game and waste your money and lifetime.

    You are over reacting,  calling stupid those who play GW2.

    At least GW2 has a better Combat & Skill Animations and doesn't require a subscription.

    Because thats how the gaming media described the game. People, prior to open beta (it was open), constantly said they felt like they were playing skyrim.

    Let me guess , you liked Skyrim and thought it was going to be just like it. The irony in your post is due to calling anyone else stupid if they like GW2 and thinking ESO would be like Skyrim.

    Probably because it had "Elder Scrolls" in the name. I mean, it's pretty obvious it wasn't going to be like other TES titles do to mmorpgs themepark limitations, but you can't fully blame people for expecting it to feel Skyrim-ish since it's the same IP, and general similarities in the RPG aspect.

    This is the reason why people like the OP should read up on games before buying them blindy.

    I liked Skyrim. I liked GW2. Well, I did until ArenaNet set a new customer service low for me and I haven't had the urge to play again. But the game itself was well done. And I like ESO. I think all three games have their pluses and minuses, but I think they are all enjoyable.

    Love Skyrim, love ESO. Doesn't it seem like some people may just be trolling this game because it may effect other games they play.  It will be interesting to see where this games sub is at in 2 or 3 months. Some how I feel it may be strong. Time will tell.

    Pretty much this.

    Definitely not "Skyrim Online", and only an idiot would have expected that for various reasons. They did though do a pretty decent job of taking lots of things from TES games and mashing it up with a standard MMO. Its not a direct port of every TES game with some shiny new online feature added and everything else kept the same. More like TES and an MMO had a baby. Its a good mixture of both sides.

    I bought GW2 at release, tried 3 times to get into the game, highest level I got a character to was 26, just not my thing.

    Played every TES game since Arena, started on MMOs with EQ in 2002.  Bought the Imperial Edition of ESO and loving it.

     

    So your comments might be your view, but not everyones.

    Forum Post count does not = Game Intelligence or Knowledge  it just shows how often people like to talk.

    Uh ... no, this game plays very much like a multiplayer Skyrim. More than any MMO that ive read about or played. SOME PEOPLE however, expect it to be exactly like Skyrim where you can go anywhere, attack anything, do quests in any order you dam well please, and spec your toon by putting points in any and all branches their special creative snowflake minds can come up with. Any sane person with an IQ above 5 can understand why those things are impossible, or very bad ideas in an MMO... but as we all know, the world is just brimming with those that dont fit that criteria!

    I like Skyrim, but I didnt buy ESO because I like Skyrim. I also like Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion, but I didnt buy Skyrim because I like those games. I am able to decide individually on every release if I like them or not (amazing right). It's extremely rare that I get disappointed by games, and it's really odd to me that some people allow them selves to get disappointed by games. Why? Some weird masochist pleasure thing or wut?

    Spent 60 $ almost two years ago on GW2.

    2000+ hours of enjoyment .

    Still playing.

    Everyday.

    Best 60$ bucks ever spent . 

    Will be playing ESO aswell next week.

    Hold on...only on for ONE freakin' minute.   TESO is a sub-par, mediocre game and that much I'll agree with....

     

    However, do NOT go dragging GW2's name in the mud with it.  The game is brilliant for what it has done and is going to do.  The developers are always open to feedback and helping improve the game with it's players' voices.  And, best of all for GW2 (in contrary to TESO) is that there is no subscription at all for the game.   Pay the retail client cost only and the rest of the game is yours to access free of charge (unless you want to purchase fluffy stuff or extra character/bank/bag slots in the Gem Store).

     

    And their RvR system is WvW-lite at best.   GW2 has had almost 2 years of post-launch polish for it's WvW system, which is becoming more and more fun by every content update.     TESO will be an abandoned wasteland in ...4 months?
