The story is one of the things this game has going for it.
Hopefully they can bring the combat, graphics issues, and problems people are having with getting headaches up to par before launch. Hope they do well!
Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
Nothing is going to change in that regard, or at least it's VERY unlikely. Claiming otherwise just makes me think you've never even played an MMO before. They aren't going to rewrite all the quests and conversations before launch. I think all games with the WoW style gameplay do a bad job of bringing any context to what is going on, even WoW.
This game has so many lore bombs in it that if you dont see it, your not reading or clicking. My guess is the not reading!!!! If lore is your thing pick the science path and you get 3 x as much.
Well, I laughed. Should I be ashamed of myself?
The fact that they have released a lot of lore so far, doesn't mean they've released it all. In fact, we know they haven't as some quests and cut-scenes were removed for spoiling too much. Nobody but the story and development team could confirm how much or how little we can know, but one thing is for sure: we don't have it all.
I can fly higher than an aeroplane.
And I have the voice of a thousand hurricanes.

Exactly this unlike some others where lore was forced you have the option, if you are a lore junkie read through it get all the data cubes. For those who like to just click and push to level cap they can skip it all. Similarly raids are not the lore focused instances they have been in other games which is nice for the non raiders they aren't missing a whole part of lore. Raids have a smaller story so it doesn't impact the game as a whole.
Do you expect the game to spoon-feed the lore and story to you? Each map is filled to the brim with lore secrets, stories, and quests that explain the nit bit parts of the Elden's intent with Nexus. You actually have to READ -or in the case of Datacubes, listen- the information provided to you.
Here's one example: Although called "Osun" by themselves and much of the Dominion/Exiles, many of the Datacubes related to their species dictates them as "O.S.1." by their creators the Elden. That's interesting lore and probably plays into future aspects of the game's later levels.
I think that the Scientist Path is really good at discovering and uncovering the lore of the game; Explorer just as well if while going from point-to-point trying to find those undiscovered nooks and crannies you actually read the lore too.
Also, just as in an Elder Scrolls game (not sure if TESO has it or not, but the 'normal' games do), there are books [data pads] to be discovered that have readable lore; and they are plentiful. Those are collectable just for the sake of collecting, however they're very thick with story and information for those that want to actually read them.
I don't believe that will happen at this stage.. but if you're right, I'll be glad about it. But.. I haven't power levelled or missed or ignored the lore that's currently there.. you should stop making stuff up and believing it as fact. I ignore most lore outside of the game.. because I don't think you should have to search outside sources.. it should be in the 'game' in an understandable way. I'm not saying there isn't lore in the game, I'm saying what is there hasn't been done well.
Same here. I m also playing a race / class / faction different than what i m going to play in launch
What combat and graphics issues? I've been playing the game since December and there aren't any combat or graphical issues other than common bugs that they are clearly smashing out.
What the hell are you even talking about?
Go find a game that holds your hand, see ya.
