Lets Talk Templar

The Bottom line is I want to be a healer. At the moment I am using a Destro Staff for questing but I think I might want to change that to be more melee focused so i save mana and use stamina for my attacks. Would you say this is a good idea?

It depends a lot on what you want to do at end-game.  If you want to be a healer in dungeon groups, for example, you're going to want to pick up resto staff.  Secondary weapon can be whatever you want.  I plan on using a bow as my secondary weapon (which has stamina based attacks) for the kiting.

A bow sounds like a good idea. But I also want to ware heavy armor. Gah this game has to many choices for my little brain!

I love my templar...  Only level 14 tough

solo i run with dual wielding and a ballanced spec with all 3 types of armor, works very well, only a single heal equiped...

In groups i run with atleast 5 pieces of armor, the first 2 templar light skill heals and the first 2 healing staff heals.. And the light skill ultimate.... And the fighters guild silver bullet for dumping stamina intoo damage... Works very well

so you see, at level 14 i allready have 2 great working builds.... Which i am going to expand when i reach level 15,  planning bow for both specs and my PvP build as 2nd weapon...

all in all, this templar is anything but the paladin like character most people think off when they read the templar description.

I honestly dont understand why people use resto staff with templar, you dont realy need more than first 2 templar heals (perhaps even healing ultimate) to heal thru low lvl dungeons (dont know how it is on veteran content, i would actualy guess you also dont need resto staff). Imo resto staff is for the other 3 classes for healing. I go with bow and use the 2 bow AOEs for stamina dump, use first 2 healing spells and healing ultima. The 5th skill is usualy some emergency getting-the-hell-out-of-there skill...
