Figured I'd give the game a 2 month review since we get a lot of questions about it. Enjoy and feel free to post comments or additions on the article.

Not a word on the fact that Hamidon and IoP shaft folks who doesn't get them and just want to enjoy the PvE solo/grouping.

Other than that, many good points

Then post your comments on our article if you think something else needs to be said. I'm fairly certain that the devs will see our article and the comments associated with it.

Too many errors with this article for a 60 day report, both Bloody Bay and Warburg have minigames

Bloody Bay -- meteorite pieces? You extract meteor fragments from the various meteors across the map and then you must defeat all the defenses of a firebase and operate its terminal inside to process the ore, you receive a Shivan pet as your reward. If players kill you while you are attempting to do any of this, any meteor ore you have on you will be transferred to your assailant if you are killed.

Warburg has a kind of quasi-CTF thing to it with leading the Scientists to certain areas, if you get the nuke codes and all that you unlock a extremely powerful nuclear missile temp power, of course if you are killed moving the scientists to their points, the killer can take the lead of the scientists.

So there is quite a bit of purpose to the other two pvp zones.

Also your claims about Prestige seem to hold the prestige earning process in the lower levels as a negative. Actually, from 1-25 if you stay in SG mode you receive NO penalty to Infamy / Prestige as you XP, and so its fairly transparent, at 25+ it gradually gives you more Prestige with less infamy while in SG mode. This is totally appropriate as you are nearing the end game, Infamy is highly abundant in CoV in the later game just like CoH more than enough to twink all your alts, so its not really a big loss to be earning less Infamy as you go into your 30's while earning Prestige. I'd say ignore Prestige until youre done leveling, twink a few alts with some Inf and then stay in SG mode and make Prestige exclusively, not really a big deal, works out well. You can also make great Infamy by Malefactoring down.

Overall the review is quite narrow, for being a 2 month review it doesn't really go into much detail -- especially about bases.

Your points are true Sygmas, but I think you are overly harsh.

This guy obviously enjoys CoV and wants to praise it, he is prolly a little blinded by what he enjoys.

I could pinpoint many other aspects, but he still has many good point and...he does it freely.

I am still blinded myself by the awful situation the Hamidon and the IoP put me into.  image  I don't get it, I assume all MMOs devs get a disease at some point and shaft everyone who is not adjusting to their whims, maybe they are maniacs under disguises?  image  Maybe they are woser than the raiders who create DKP systems?  image  Maybe...oh well!  They are the less evil of the bunch for now!  image

How does Hamidon or the IoPs affect the people who just want to enjoy PvE content? You get no penalties to the PvE game for not having an IoP, and not having HOs slotted out isn't as large of a negative if you're just running PvE missions.

As I see it, the only way you'd be shafted by the lack of either is if you're actively participating in the PvP content against players who have them.

With that said, HOs never have been implemented correctly. The problem with a game that has no loot is that implementing decent rewards for defeating a raid level mob is nigh impossible. Powerful enhancements were about the only option they really had when they put Hamidon in the game...XP and Influence weren't going to be worth it to all the level 50 heroes with 20 million or more influence, and all the level 50 heroes were going to be needed to beat the thing. People wanted a big, bad monster to take down, though, so the devs felt a bit pressured to give them one. Too bad they didn't have much in the way of options for the reward.

You are shafted because folks who get Hamidon and IoP OUTSIDE of grouping PvE content are better at grouping.  Period.

If someone who raid or PvP is better at grouping PvE, the game is pointless from a PvE grouping point of view.  The best grouper deserve to be GROUPERS, not raiders or PvPers.
