Best Solo Class!?

grimbojgrimboj Member Posts: 2,102

I like this idea and keep coming back to it but getting bored as the low lvl people are too selfish to group.
Whats the best class just for minding your own business at low lvl?

I think the adventurer is the best solo class. But why in hell would you want to play solo in a MMORPG? ::::05::

Any of the classes will work out solo for the first stretch, even the more group aimed ones like traders and doctors. The heavy damage dealers and tanks as with other games tend to be your better solo chars. For AO that would be enforcers, martial artists and the like. Still, once you make some friends in the game and/or join an org so you have a regular group to play with rather than a random one grouping will be a lot more fun.

I solo'd my first 20lvls with a Nano/adv, it worked pretty well, id go with an Adv.

    Just another handsome boy graduate...

Depends on if you have SL or not.  Non-SL classes would probably be a melee adventurer, they get heals, buffs, decent damage, and can pretty much succeed in most situations.  I found fixer to ge a decent solo class, non-SL, but I also found blitzing an exciting aspect of the game.  If you can get your hands on some of the decent weapons for fixers out there, they do quite well.  If you have SL, then Keepers are excellent IMO.  Once they fixed the auras, I think they started to shine (no pun intended).  Stay away from Shade if you solo and are not twinked though, even though they are a cool class to mess with.  If you know you can always have either a fixer with you or access to their runspeed buffs all the time, Nanotechnician is pretty wicked.  Unfortunately, running in circles for 200+ levels gets quite old.  Any of the other classes can solo quite well, but are much better in groups IMO.

The 2 classes I play the most, and 90% of the time solo are fixer and keeper.  No matter what you make, be sure you do your research on where you want to end up because making certain combinations of class and race can make great soloers at different levels.  If you think you are going to go to 200+ make sure you are looking at your race combos carefully.

if u r looking to solo alot even at mid high lvl.. Keeper and MA will be a very good choice.

yeah and adv.. they r uber..

er actually the first toon of yours... i really suggest not to go trader. why is that so?

they r hard to play.. and extremly dependent on other class at highbie ..

Because in AO it is of great benefit, be it mission blitzing for items or CRU, dyna hunting either in RK or SL.

In this game particularly there are many many things that are best done alone, and most profitable when doing so.

i totally agree with dark. solo is one of the most important part when it comes to farming. and when it comes to farming, a Damage Dealing Soloer will be cutting edge. MA and ADV will be hmm very good. Keeper and Shade is not too bad ( end game) Agent is ok (lacks the edge in end game period).  and Pet Classes also . but crats at end game would be better due to the new pet.

I found both bureaucrat and engineer to be good for lower level solo, but they become a little difficult in the middle levels (100-150).

Adventurer is a fabulous all-arounder with solid solo playability, but many complain that they aren't uber enough in the upper levels.

MA is a decent solo play, but can be a little bland at times and don't really shine until you get past 50.  Of all of these, MA is the PvPer's choice.

I have not played in a while and I never got super high level, but I would say the best solo characters hands down are the pet classes.

If you are going to solo the biggest problem is filling all the roles of a whole group. It is difficult to fight, heal, and do crowd control all in one character. Additionally it is also difficult to effectively complete missions that are max level, the mobs just hit too hard. The best way I have found to get around these problems is to effectively remove yourself from the fight. The way you do this of course is to create a high level pet, hide your character, and let the pet clear the mission for you.

    **Engineer**

Arguably the most powerful pet class. The engi pet dishes out a ton of damage and lasts longer than the pets from the other classes. You can buff up and the pet will last as long as you keep your abilities up high enough to keep control. As an engineer I was able to complete max level missions and level pretty fast. I would put my pet on hunt and it would clear the missions for me.

The biggest problem with this method is crowd control. Typically I would go in cycles, I would pull max missions and level until my highest pet was no longer able to defeat the mobs and then update my bot, buffs, and implants. Immediately after the upgrade my bot would lay waste to whatever number of mobs it ran into, towards the end of the cycle my bot could only take one mob. Sometimes this would result in an abandoned mission if I was unable to get past an area with multiple mobs. In this case I would usually just pull a bunch of missions in the same area so I could just move on to the next one.

The best part about this arrangement is my engineer would otherwise be seriously underequipped as I didn't worry about updating anything that did not have to do with getting a better bot. This saves the hassle of updating every component and burning through credits.

**MP and Crat** I never played these classes too much but they can kind of go along with the strategy of the Engineer. The pets do the fighting. The crat is damn good solo because of multiple fighting pets and some of the best crowd control skills. The MP is good because they can do it all... heal and attack... as well as alot of other cool things.

**Fixer** The fixer is ok a soloing but not the best. Fixers are fun to play but they level kind of slow soloing as they are not the best damage dealers. Fixers are best for quick travel, kiteing higher level mobs outdoors, and blitzing missions to get good items. Really the fixer might be best if you are new to the game and have no money. Fixers are great outdoor classes.

**Adventurer** This class was designed for solo, enough said.

In the end the best solo class depends on alot of variables which unfortunately reveal weaknesses in the game. The pet classes are only effective with the best MP buffs, but if you cannot find a high level MP you are screwed. Unfortunately this is often the case since the populations of AO hit the big decline.

The pet classes or any other class that requires crazy buffs are expensive. These options are really only open to alts after you have built up alot of credits on another character, or if you have bought credits from a third party site like Ebay. I have pumped millions on credits into my Engineer. These classes also require a good grasp of the game to be effective with.

Any class besides the pet classes are slow to level solo because they just cannot sit there and do nothing but dealing out tons of damage like the pets can. Many classes can do great damage, but when you are doing high level missions you have to stop and heal. Some classes also can't take the damage that rediculously high level mobs will deal out.

Someone mentioned that middle levels are hard to manage, but with Shadowlands that is not much of a problem. Hecklers will get you though the much of the middle levels.

If you are totally new to the game, I would suggest taking it easy with an Adventurer or a Fixer and then possibly get an alt going to try other classes after you have a handle on the game.

    ADVENTURER

Adventurer will be the best solo class by far , and it will be a good choice since teams also appreciate help of adventurers, they can heal, not as much of doctors, but they are allways a good helping hand in any team.

    Haa a good hunting.::::28::::::39::

As a froob and a noob, I would go Martial Artist or adventurer
  • AtheaAthea Member UncommonPosts: 79
Id say either Martial Arts or Enforcer.
  • AstaresAstares Member Posts: 37

Martial Artist is the best bet, if your new to the game. Good damage and defense, no need for weapons and can heal.

If you have funds and some game experience then basically any class can solo, except probably an Agent unless your very experienced.

Definetively the pet classes.  I playing this game since launch.   I played an Engi to 200, a crat up to 185, Mp to 150 and several other classe all between 100 and 150.

Just to give you an example around level 120 (can even be done earlier) an Engi can cast the 200 slayer (with MP buffs) and with it you can do QL 200 missions.   Now you know a class that can do QL 200 missions solo at level 120 ?

But pet classes are not for everyone, the best soloers after that are those that have already been mentioned, MA, Adventurer, even Keeper solo pretty good (with a good weapon).   But the easiest one these 3 is the MA because you don't have to bother about getting a weapon which can be very expansive.

  • AstaresAstares Member Posts: 37

Yes, overall pet classes are the best soloers if you are looking at doing stuff above your level because of the twinkage factor. It also takes some skill and knowledge though to play them safely against higher level opponents solo.

So I definitely wouldn't recommend a pet user to any beginner players especially if they don't have the funds to get the necessary implants etc and tips for continually buffing. Not buffed/twinked the pet classes are average soloers.

Has to be a fixer dont it if you can afford grid armour  there aint much in your level range than can scratch u
  • Kaynos1972Kaynos1972 Member Posts: 2,316
Fixer GA was nice before SL, Grid Armor is useless in Shadowlands.

Doc is by far the strongest soloclass in the endgame. They're followed by advy, keeper, ma, shade. Crats are great in some situations.

Engi's may be awesome at low to mid levels, but after you get the highest rk slayer, all pets are levellocked. Meaning you cant twink anymore and other classes start to catch up. In end game they rank somewhere in the middle.

What you really need to avoid are nt's and traders. Other than that, all classes can solo decent.

    Atrox Adventurer (probably melee design)

Massive Hp, large self heals, high dmg, etc etc

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
