A few things I would like to hear about from your experience so far.
1. How would you rate questing over other games. Better or worse?
2. Does ESO have a story? All the others have some kind of problem you are trying to solve.
3. What is the appeal to play? Why should I play this instead of Skyrim that I bought for $5 and can have mods on and have countless different experiences with?
4. What is there to do at cap, what is there to do in between?
But what has everyone thought so far about the game what are some likes and dislikes about the game so far.
I've played MMO's since the start of the genre, so my answers are based on my experiences with many many MMORPG's.
1. I rate the questing of this game one of the best I've played in awhile, up there with GW2. While this game isn't a sandbox, it doesn't give you the yellow quest markers that you hunt down on the minimaps, nor the standard kill 30 mobs, collect 4 stones type of quests. The stories behind the quests are more fun and immersive than usual. I hate reading quests, but I find myself listening in on the voice-overs...which all quest npc's have voice-overs in this game btw. The actions of the quests are more engaging, partly thanks to the combat system.
2. Good indepth story, 3 different factions so rolling 3 different characters will get you 3 different lore & story line. There's a main theme to the stories, but there are side-stories when you deviate from the rail and go off to find quests from npc's that you'll only find if you do steer away and explore.
3. Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, I have not touched a single player game since the genre started back in 1999.
4. Dunno about cap, don't care at the moment. I'm having too much fun to give a rats behind about where I'll be months down the road. Life is too short, enjoy now, worry about crap later.
So I see you played Lotro, how would you rate the epic quest line in that to the quests in ESO? Depending on how far you got the epic quests start to get really enjoyable and you feel like you are actually part of the story. I would ask about SWTOR but you dont have that listed.
Big fan of ESO here. Just wanted to say, don't buy this game if you are not a fan of Elder Scrolls games, you wont like it.
See...that just BS and you know it....
Any MMO player might like it...might LOVE it.
AND...since when are you a big ESO fan?
Any MMO player might like it? So wrong, if you're really an MMO player and not a fanboi of a certain title, you would feel what is lacking in this game.
So I know its probably a little early to start asking but there has been the beta as well as the early release.
I enjoy The Elder Scroll games, started playing when Marrowind game out. So I understand at least the Lore of the game.
A few things that turned me off of the game
1. Subscription based game when there is only 1 game still alive with subscription. Obvious this will change after a year or less but still annoying none the less.
Oh god... Why do you bring this up? P2PvsF2P is good topic to derail threads...
2. No raiding, not sure if this has changed yet. I enjoy grouping and killing stuff with players. Without this feature its pretty much I am god I can kill whatever, what is the point of playing an MMO if this is the case? besides pure pvp games of course which I dont find fun either.
The "raiding" content is called Adventure Zones, the first is Craglorn, not yet implemented, should have been at release but they couldnt make it, so it's the first content patch they will put, I heard the shoddycast guys on the Private Test Server are invited to test it when the game launches.
3. Without raiding the best gear in the game is crafted, unsure how crafted works but I dont enjoy farming countless stuff like this. One very boring aspect of the game to me. I dont mind grinding raids out for gear since im usually spending time with people and having fun. Chopping wood for 10 hours straight, not fun.
Yuo dont spend 10 hours chopping wood, you spend 10 hours running around collecting wood and crafting to level up in your crafting area, if you dont want to do it just find someone to craft it for you. Crafting is a huge part in this game, the devs said the best gear in the game is obtanied through crafting, not pve or pvp, but the difference in stats is small, some typed of equipment you can only find as drops, cant craft.
A few things I would like to hear about from your experience so far.
1. How would you rate questing over other games. Better or worse?
Better than all around, only heard that TSW offers a more "varied" experience, but its the best questing available now.
2. Does ESO have a story? All the others have some kind of problem you are trying to solve.
Story is eveything, rather generic but still pretty good.
3. What is the appeal to play? Why should I play this instead of Skyrim that I bought for $5 and can have mods on and have countless different experiences with?
This is pure personal preference, I love TES, but ESO is different, it's a more "alive" world, but more limited on what you can do.
4. What is there to do at cap, what is there to do in between?
Finishing all questing from all 3 factions, raiding will be implemented, cyrodiil is a good end-game, collecting skyshards and lorebooks, crafting and trading.
But what has everyone thought so far about the game what are some likes and dislikes about the game so far.
It was hard but I managed to do a more serious post, because whenever someone uses the word "fanboi" and wants to be taken seriously I facepalm and enter troll mode.
Theres so many things that could be answered if you search on the internet for ESO reviews, try youtube, even if you call it "biased" it still offers information that you seem to be lacking.
Also this game's pvp is the next best thing since sliced bread.
So I see you played Lotro, how would you rate the epic quest line in that to the quests in ESO? Depending on how far you got the epic quests start to get really enjoyable and you feel like you are actually part of the story. I would ask about SWTOR but you dont have that listed.
I've played LOTRO since some of the early closed betas. To be honest, I never liked LOTRO's main quest line. Parts of it felt like "Lord of the Rings" and parts of it felt like I was "carrying a basket of apples to someone when I should have been heading down toward where Saruman but instead I found myself carrying the empty basket back". And it felt that way because that's what I was "actually doing". I started to wonder if I should just let Sauron have middle earth because at least he wouldn't be having anyone carrying apples. or baskets.
From what I've played of ESO's Main quest as well as the Fighter's guild quest, they feel more "Elder Scrolls" than LOTRO's quest line felt like "Lord of the Rings".
And I still Play LOTRO. I still think for the most part it's a decent game.
I would say that the main quest in ESO gets better (theme here?) as it moves along and starts getting more interesting. Of course you are the "hero" (which doesn't bother me but I can see why it would bother others) but I'm at the point where another unforeseen layer was added and I['m actually curious to see what happens.
Still, I think the Strength of ESO are the quests you find in the world. Not from the start but they start getting more elaborate as you move on. I particularly liked one "small quest" I discovered while doing one of the larger quests where you find love letters in this ruin and eventually find "a voice" where you follow it to ... 'well, let's say it was touching and a bit twisted at the same time. At least if you can grasp what you were reading and seeing.
Some of the quests give you decisions and some allow you to persuade or intimidate provided you have a point in either of those skills. I was a bit taken aback that I couldn't persuade to ahve a group given a fair trial and found out that skill is allowable if you join the mage's guild. Of course they are just small decisions and so far I haven't seen anything major happen with those decisions.
In any case, so far I am enjoying the main quest keeping in mind that "so far" it's a seems to be a cousin to Oblivion's main quest.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Yep exactly this, because fanboys tend to twist the truth ^^
1. Subscription based game when there is only 1 game still alive with subscription. Obvious this will change after a year or less but still annoying none the less.
Theres more than 1 game, WOW, EVE, FF14, Darkfall, these types of games tend to be the best.
2. No raiding, not sure if this has changed yet. I enjoy grouping and killing stuff with players. Without this feature its pretty much I am god I can kill whatever, what is the point of playing an MMO if this is the case? besides pure pvp games of course which I dont find fun either.
Adventure zones (AZ) are coming with trials included which are 24 man fights against big bad bosses. If thats not raiding what is?

Crafting is fun and easy but i expect the best gear will come from AZ and crafting.

1. How would you rate questing over other games. Better or worse?
Much better in my opinion they help to make the game very immersive.
2. Does ESO have a story? All the others have some kind of problem you are trying to solve.
It has your typical ES story just thinned out more. With lots of little stories going on.
3. What is the appeal to play? Why should I play this instead of Skyrim that I bought for $5 and can have mods on and have countless different experiences with?
Because if you like Skyrim, Oblivion or Morrowind. This game lets you experience more of the world, lore and characters. That for me was the biggest selling point.
4. What is there to do at cap, what is there to do in between?
Cap consists of Cyrodill alliance PvP and Veteran Ranks for the moment i would expect to see AZ patched in with in 4-8 weeks
But what has everyone thought so far about the game what are some likes and dislikes about the game so far.
I dont care about companies who get paid to review games. WoW is ranked as the number 1 game in most of those charts and as a game its complete shit. Yes, I played the game up until a few months ago, but thats because im a PVE fan. I enjoy the hell out of raiding with friends. Its a great experience but that isnt what they review these games about and still rate them high. They are bought out to review these games. MMO just released a review which didnt look to nice, didnt read it all but im guessing they couldnt say much more than that since they get ad funding from them.
I suggest you actually read that review before condemning it. For one thing, unlike mmorpg.com, PC Gamers' website isn't plastered into one big TESO advertisement. And what he reviews is likely just what you're looking for.

Darkfall is a freaking bankrupt game, EVE is a game dwelled by multiaccounters and awful community for the most part, FF14 is going dangerously low on subscriptions and Yoshida said they might consider F2P as an option. So ... yeah, such games, much great, very awesome.
Life advice, never ever believe the PR stunts. Wait to see for yourself, adventure zones might be crap, neither you or I know truly about them
Obtaining the best gear through crafting in this game is huge waste of skill points and resources, all in all, very grindy-ish
The story is thinned so much that it can't hold a candle to any previous ES game. Or we call quest hubs now a meaningful story? o.O
Again, this game can not be compared to previous ES games, neither in terms of combat or exploration. In terms of combat they've tried to make a hybrid between Gw2 and previous ES games but that fails miserably. And thanks to the need to retain players to pay sub, you can't explore places outside your level range. Fun stuff.
Pretty much the only point you made that I can agree with.
My comments come only from playing through the first 10 or so levels with two different characters over two beta weekends.
1. How would you rate questing over other games. Better or worse?
Questing is the same. Go to highlighted area on map, click, click, click, return to highlighted mark on map. Get next quest. Some of the story in the quest dialogue is amusing and not totally flat.
2. Does ESO have a story? All the others have some kind of problem you are trying to solve.
At level 10 I did not feel immersed in the overall story arch.
3. What is the appeal to play? Why should I play this instead of Skyrim that I bought for $5 and can have mods on and have countless different experiences with?
It is an MMORPG, so the appeal is playing with others who love the game world and mechanics.
I was not overly impressed with the game. After playing a month of Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, I'd say that TESO is leagues better, but it still has the tinge of cookie-cutter mmorpg-ness. I think if you found a good group of players to enjoy the game-time with it could be worth your while.

If you're going to talk about something, then at least know what the fuck you're talking about. Yoshida never said anything along the lines of "oh man, our game is sucking so much i'm gonna have to go F2P soon" like you're implying. Also FFXIV is not going dangerously low on subs, if anything they're about to get a large boost from ps4 players. FFXIV has stabled at around 400k~ players which is BETTER than Yoshida initially expected. So they've surpassed their own goals.

Seriously as i read your post every 2 lines of text makes me think of the Jackie Chan mind-blown meme.
I agree with the rest of your post for the most part but jesus that first half. Just pure regurgitated garbage.
The sub fee issue is only there because eso is just a regular game, there is nothing that sets it apart and warrants a sub fee, the publishers just tacked on the sub because they can milk $15 a month out of people until they realize what the publisher is doing. Look at the imperial race cost barrier, the lack of content outside of questing. I understand a joy for questing but questing is largely a single player game. That's all this is too, single player with a pvp multiplayer tacked on the end as endgame, it's just a regular game, nothing special other than the steep price tag.
I am not sure that you could get a good and honest review of any MMO until a few months after launch. It is the type of game that it actually takes a while to form an opinion about and far too many of the games seems great for the first few weeks but then becomes boring while a few others are the other way around (like Eve).

Please, don't speak if you dont know what you're talking about. The main appeal to this game IS the pvp. So don't act like its just merely tacked on like it's some afterthought. It's one of the best if not THE best feature of the game.

Tell that to melee characters. Please check out some other games before you come on here and act like you know what you're saying. If you have any experience outside of eso, you should know the pvp is tacked on and even though it's the main part of the game, it's very broken and ranks well below average. The idea of 3 faction pvp is nice, but they really should have dedicated themselves to it from the beginning instead of robbing everyone then converting to a pvp only game like they will.

Sources please, and not ones from last year. There is no boost from PS4 players because those people are mostly PS3 owners that got the PS4 version for free. Oh and that PS4 release happened some months ago.
Also the amount of skill points you are going to lose and the amount of time you are going to lose to get best in slot gear in TESO will be a lot longer than simply having it from a drop or trade and well you get to spend the skill points on something else. Sure there will be few crafters but they'll be stomped at most of the content anyway.
Funny guy.
As an TESO fanboy you should be ashamed of your lack of knowledge

FF14 hasn't released for the PS4..... It doesn't release until the middle of this month. It is in beta currently. Go back to talking about games that you have some knowledge of.....
James T. Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough! What else ya got?
I think maybe in a few months when they have a sale ill check it out so I get a month of content pretty cheap. From the sounds of everything PVP is the main cornerstone of this game.
Raiding was an after thought and was said to never exist in the game but I guess they realized that most gamers are PVE driven not PVP and quickly looking to get some more players on board.
The story sounds interesting, some people have huge praise for it but havent been able to really give a good bases around what they consider good, better than killing x sheep doesnt make something good, just better. Some games have done an amazing story line that draws you in wanting to know what is going to happen next, not well now I get to kill something bigger so thats better right?
I dont enjoy crafting which it seems like is a nice chunk of content which I would have rather of had raid bosses instead which would have brought grouping to an MMO...
I will probably have fun with the game but will not stay more than a month due to nothing to do after cap. Cap is where the majority of time is spent and for some reason developers do not understand that once cap is reached something needs to happen to keep our attention. Someone stated that even PVP, the highlight of the game has 0 reason for PVP, you are not fighting to gain something, not fighting to control something, just fighting to fight. Every MMO has that, its not something new.
For me my hopes is still ArcheAge, im a themepark person so we will see how that goes, havent had too high hopes for it but it keeps peaking my interests every time I see and hear something about it, besides that its probably P2W, if so wont be investing too much time in.
Would love to see how WildStar does for my themepark fix. Just keep hearing about havent done my research on the game too much though.
Until then I will wander the MMO seas playing decent games until something steals my heart.
Crafting is fun and easy but i expect the best gear will come from AZ and crafting.
A few things I would like to hear about from your experience so far.
1. How would you rate questing over other games. Better or worse?
I don't know what words can accurately describe you. You say obtaining the best gear from crafting is a huge waste of skill points and resources....what???? and its very grindy-ish....what?? So getting best gear from crafting is grindy-ish but killing same raid bosses over and over isn't...what???
Seriously as i read your post every 2 lines of text makes me think of the Jackie Chan mind-blown meme.
I agree with the rest of your post for the most part but jesus that first half. Just pure regurgitated garbage.
As others have mentioned, PS4 relese of FFXIV has not happened yet.
Also, investing skill points in crafting will in no way gimp you end game. You dont need to have every single skill of every class and every weapon to compete in end game. There are more than enough points to be gained to max yourself out for switching to a few different builds for different content / purposes as well as maxing out some crafting. Perhaps not every craft, but you can easily focus on a craft or 2 and not hinder your character in any aspect. There are also already a number of guilds dedicated to trade and crafting with a large number of players in them. Nobody will be hurting for equipment.
Do you even play? I take it you dont since you seem to be so oblivious to things that are actually going on in the game, yet seem perfectly willing to just spout off about the state of things which you know nothing of.
As someone who seems hell bent on hating on the game, you should be ashamed of your lack of knowledge.
You should at lest back your nonsense up with some actual truth rather than just continuing to spread misinformation from other trolls who are just as clueless.

I don't think your take on the game is correct.
First of all this is NOT a pvp game.
If it was, then the developers wouldn't have needed to spend so much time and resources with quests that have voice overs, animated npc's, and essentially a lot of detail in the world. With several large quest lines.
The pvp? You're flipping keeps. Additionally, if this was a pvp game then why did we not see anything about pvp until a few months ago? All the first content we saw was all pve.
By nature, pvp can last on and on but pve, unless it's raiding, is finite.
This is not to say the pvp isn't fun but it is reminiscent of warhammer to me where groups go around skirmishing taking keeps and then defending those keeps. every day, day after day.
As I said, it's fun but I dont' find that particularly spectacular. Lineage 2 still holds the torch for sieges because when you took someone's castle you weren't just "taking an objective" you knew the people in that castle, their guild/alliance and you either supported them or wanted them out.
The adventure zones have been mentioned from the start so this is not a new thing, they just don't talk about it because it seems the entirety of the game has been quite an undertaking. I think they will be a bit like Diablo 3's adventure modes from the sound of it.
And not only do you have one faction's worth of quest content but you have three.
And sure there are people who have played very hard core grinding on mobs in groups and getting a LOT of xp, especially with some of the respawn that Iv'e seen in some dungeons but the average person is going to take a bit more time to go through all of it.
As far as story, well you are going to have to experience that for yourself. There are people who found skyrim's story lackign, same with oblvion and though I loved both games I can see their point if I want to sit in the cynical chair. I've also heard other people say "the best story is ..." and from what they said I didn't think those stories were any more stellar.
I'm not saying you should buy the game now but based on what you said above I suspect we are going to see the "I shouldn't ahve listened to the naysayers" post when you do try the game.
What this game is not good at is being a group mmo. The story content is delivered in such a way that it's just not great in groups. Even the dungeons have their story bits and I found myself hanging back to listen while the other members of the group took off.
Additionally you can miss taking part in a quest objective by showing up "just" as others are kiling some boss. And you get the kill for being there. I've had to stay around until these things respawned just so I could feel that I had a part in it.
This is also a huge flaw in the game.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Honestly, if your seeking an Elders Scrolls game, your going to find yourself highly disappointed. Its not that it doesn't replicate the experience, it in fact mimics it heavily, to the point you will think your playing Skyrim. The issue is that its pretty much a poor version of the games. A lot of the good stuff that makes Elder Scrolls good is thrown out the window as a large amount of people surround you and ruin that immersive feel.
I'd advise just waiting a month or two and allow the ignorance to fade away from people blinded by TES love to see the game for how it is. Maybe it will still be great despite the people not being on cloud 9 and ignoring the problems by that point, it is possible.
...and take anything MMORPG says with a large grain of salt. I mean, SWTOR was game of the year, with what 10 days left of the year, with rediculous scores and now the MMO is F2P and looked down upon? They are far from the most credible source (sadly) and its a shame really that we have to pick away all the glorified pandering to find any bit of truth or facts with games.
1. Subscription based game when there is only 1 game still alive with subscription. Obvious this will change after a year or less but still annoying none the less.

FFXIV is a game that i have even forgotten exists so yeah thought its out yet, the PS4 release was promised with the big patch somewhere in january or february so it being a subscription game I thought they'd deliver.
And no I do not play anymore. The last betas were more than enough for me to make my decision. But yeah, I would love to see a crafter beating up one of those guys reaching lvl 50 under 24 hours. That would be fun to watch.
I think maybe in a few months when they have a sale ill check it out so I get a month of content pretty cheap. From the sounds of everything PVP is the main cornerstone of this game.

Like you said, story is finite essentially. With no real end content PVE wise yet, that would either make this the most boring game in the world or a PVP based game at cap.
Also the devs said from the start they had no intention on having any raid content and saw no future where they would add that. because TES has and never will be about raids. They did said they had plans for bigger than 4 content but never said anything else. Looks like it wasnt until a few months ago they finally started talking about adding in these adventure zones. Essentially have the game was all finished they started adding in that content.
I feel the whole point of an MMO is grouping and if that is a weak point that this game is having I just dont feel like me spending $60 plus $15 a month is worth it when I can grab games that has way better story and gameplay and play those for half the cost with no monthly cost.
Honestly, if your seeking an Elders Scrolls game, your going to find yourself highly disappointed. There's definitley truth in this. If people are looking for "skyrim online" or "morrowind online" (I only wish) then they are going to be dissapointed.
It is what it is: an mmo that draws heavily from some ES games and is set in the Elder Scrolls universe.
Since experiencing the game I felt that the dugeons should all be instanced to the party since they have/rely upon storied quests.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

So I see you played Lotro, how would you rate the epic quest line in that to the quests in ESO? Depending on how far you got the epic quests start to get really enjoyable and you feel like you are actually part of the story. I would ask about SWTOR but you dont have that listed.
Any MMO player might like it? So wrong, if you're really an MMO player and not a fanboi of a certain title, you would feel what is lacking in this game.

Exactly. Stupid thread.

3. Without raiding the best gear in the game is crafted, unsure how crafted works but I dont enjoy farming countless stuff like this. One very boring aspect of the game to me.

I am not sure that you could get a good and honest review of any MMO until a few months after launch. It is the type of game that it actually takes a while to form an opinion about and far too many of the games seems great for the first few weeks but then becomes boring while a few others are the other way around (like Eve).
Yeah, that wont help you much, sorry.
Please, don't speak if you dont know what you're talking about. The main appeal to this game IS the pvp. So don't act like its just merely tacked on like it's some afterthought. It's one of the best if not THE best feature of the game.

Is there an emperor yet? xD
