Not a single one of us in this thread are even  close to 50?

IMHO, the theory of level cap is acquired to quickly is out the door!

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I want to do quests, but I don't have 30 hours a week to play, let alone the 60 a lot of people devote to mmo's when they don't have other responsibilities.

Who said you have to play 30 hours a week? Besides, in a game that has no "end" why is fast leveling a good thing? I've never understood this. Don't be in such a rush, enjoy the ride. I suppose that concept developed out of endgame raiding where people said, "The real game doesn't start till max level anyway." Which always made me want to throat punch the person who was speaking. "Really, what have I been doing for the last 50 - 80 levels (depending on game) then?"

I think that slow leveling is even less of a problem in ESO. You don't have to sprint to max level to participate in part of the endgame. They let you do that at level 10. Yes, yes, I know, level 50 and veteran rank players will beat you one on one. But, there is no rule saying you have to play fair. Get friends, ambush the enemy.

    Because..

#1: All the quests to get there are A to B repeats of the same thing you did 20 levels ago.  Nothing interesting going on there, it feels like a chore and the only way to make it stop is to get to the end and PvP.

#2: All of the gear and perks you get at level 20 are null and void at level 25 ... The only way to stop that is to get to the end.

#3: Level 50 giant rats drop more gold than level 1 giant rats...

#4: Last but not least, most players are jaded like myself. We don't really enjoy the "game" at all, it's the competition via the end that most of us enjoy. Everything else is the same recycled code from games 20 years ago. For example, you may enter a city in amazement (Oh ! look ! this guard needs me to go and fetch him 5 livers from the pigs outside ! How interesting!) Most of us on the other hand have been there, done it, bought the T-shirt and wiped our ajss with it.

You are so out of touch with what this game is I wonder why you even play it. Most players are NOT jaded, it is just you and a small minority of mmo players who have long ago decided to not be interested in any pve portion of the game (which is the majority of content). You should really question why you play mmos because the rpg origins of the genre is lost on you. I've played all 3 factions into the teens and have yet to find even one quest to find "5 livers". Nearly every quest and every quote from an npc has to do with lore either local or part of the main story arc. Loot is scaled to your level and is exactly what you need to progress.

You are also only dismissing any of other view point other than your own. This is painfully shallow of you. You should come to the realization that you do not want to play a mmorpg (based HEAVILY on it's single player RPG origins on purpose) but instead want to play instanced MOBA style game play.

Basically: STOP trolling on the actual target audience of this game and go play your end game rush play style with the small handful of players who do the same. The amount of players slowly leveling through ESO so vastly outnumbers the content skipping, xp grinders that it makes your statement comical and embarrassing.

    You stay sassy!

So absolutely love the slow pace of levelling. No pressure, i can take my time and explore.... the combination of quests leading me through the first zone and the freedom to wander around... Awesome game!

I had a week free specially for launch !

It's always a risk, but I had almost 100% access the whole time (EU server), so it turned out to be worth it. I've played about 72 hours minimum, and my highest character is... LEVEL EIGHT !!!!

OK, I do have 8 characters that I'm messing around with though, and I'm trying out all the crafting professions. Playing all three factions and experimenting with different classes and builds. I'm definitely not rushing... image

Level cap was reached quickly by some because they exploited the repeatable PvP kill quest, which has now been fixed. That's the only way they did it and now it's gone. So that case is closed.

I'm about 50 hours in and I'm level 22. I've done 1 zone and 1/3 out of.. what?.. 16 or 17 zones not counting the smaller starter areas? Game is massive.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I'm guessing you are younger than me! I'm not as fast as I use to be! :)

Anyway, this to me levels at about the same pace as Vanilla WoW, which I was hoping for.

This is leagues slower than vanilla WoW. When that game released, I didn't know about quests being good (In MMOs prior to that, they were just a waste of time) so I just grinded on mobs a la Everquest style. Literally, just killed mobs over and over, without questing. Even doing that, I was level 20 within about 6-7 hours of creating my character. A friend of mine actually did the quests, and leveled much faster than me.

I quite a few xpacs ago, but I imagine it's much faster now.

I call BS on that.  ILevel 20 hours in 6-7 hours the first time you opened up Vanilla WoW is just you not remembering correctly.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Lvl 18 with over 2 days played. I blame all the other mmorpgs that didn't bother to give random npcs dialogue or voiceovers. Now I absolutely have to talk to every single person I encounter to find out what they have to say.

This game reminds me of the early days of SWG. Back then, I spent hours talking to random npcs who asked me to kill womp rats for them or something similar and then rewarded me with a wooden basket or a bantha doll. ESO brings that feeling back.

stopped reading your retarded drivel right there.  I am pretty sure most mmo players are vets like me who are in their 30s and don't have 30-60 hours a week to play a damn game.  Has nothing to do with me being special.  But the quests are tedious.

I've been playing on and off since early start and I'm level 14. But I'm a completionist so all those books, shards, points of interest, world bosses etc I am doing. Having tons of fun with this one.
  • SmoeySmoey Member UncommonPosts: 601
I wish it was slower. I work 45+ hours a week and do not have massive amounts of time to spend on the game. However, an MMO is supposed to last long and if I hit 50 and had completed all of the quests in a week I'd be severely disappointed.

    Then why are you playing?

If you don't like the game, don't force yourself to play. I don't like banging my head off the wall, so I don't do it. Might as well cut your losses now and move on to something else.

Yep, same here. About 35-40 hours if I had to guess, and just hit level 9 last night. I explore a lot. I'm taking my sweet time on this game.

You did read the thread about the first 50 in ESO yes? And WoW is still relatively slow.

In response to the OP: if you are having fun you are doing nothing wrong; if you are bored in some way then there are ways that you can level faster - disengage brain and simply kill mobs is one way but not necessarily  fun way.
