ESO Teleport Hack

***This is not me. This is from Reddit.***

 

"Below are 3 videos that I made the evening of 4/7. A few observations:

  • They are AFK-Teleporting Harvest Bots.

  • They harvest a node, disappear and then reappear at another nearby node, harvest, rinse-repeat.

  • They get messed up when you have the loot window open, and will stand there indefinitely as long as you keep the window open.

  • They are active in little/no danger areas, this particular video was taken at the Bal Foyen entrance from beginner island Bleakrock Isle (Ebonhart Pact). High-traffic areas = VERY fast node spawn times.

  • These few players have been reported."

    Amazing... Or not actually. Still, weird that their infrastructure "allows" for TP.

    I haven't played the game yet, so forgive me for not knowing the mechanics. But when a node is harvested is it like WoW in that another person then isn't able to harvest it, like it poofs? Does this bot/macro action keep others from harvesting? Cuz that would be a bummer for sure.

    I don't care about bot harvesting or gold farmers, easily ignored, but they need to fix the teleporting :)

    Live GMs will take care of them in minutes,its subscription based game after all.

    Zenimax ,it is time to  show your playerbase why they are paying for services.

    Yep saw the same thing in final fantasy. Gold sellers warping from node to node harvesting everything in sight.

    I thought they were just running from node to node invisible.  I ran into a couple of these today in Stros M'kai and in Glenumbra.  You would go to harvest a node and suddenly the node would be gone but you could clearly see the name "hhhsfene" below your cursor to interact with.  A couple of times they would even pop up for a second.  Weird.

    Yeah, they cant be bothered by applying patches for EU at night so im sure they will not sleep to save us from hackers.

    Thats what you got when you are cheap on infrastructure and dont check what client sends to server.

    Pffft a lot of fuss about nothing imo....bots, teleports, speed hacks...it's FINE!!!

     

    Other MMORPGs have them...so it's FINE!!!

    I must say that I was going after some ore yesterday and actually ran into this and noticed this teleporting hack for first time.

    I indeed was supprised to see a character just dissapear and reapear instantly at a node further down not too far away. This was definitely not lag.

    if only they had live GMs

    They don't at all...have not had them ever.

     

    Only thing you can do is send in a report, which they may or may not do anything about.

     

    If you want fast service or want them to do something and not ignore you...you have to make a forum post on their forum...and post screen shots along with lots of jokes and ridicule about their game.

     

    And bingo...a developer will tell you to send them a message to fix the issue.

    You're mixing things up. No one is actually saying it's fine BECAUSE every mmorpg has these problems.

    But the fact that EVERY mmorpg has, says A LOT about it.

    Any game that has server side validation for character position - as soon as you try to exploit you get flagged/disconnected/banned.

    Fun times.

    Without being a "subject matter expert", this is what I thought most MMOs were doing as well.

    Yes, I like the game.  Yes, this is a problem.  They have been pretty agile about fixing exploits.  In this case, I suspect that they'll just set the vendor value of basic raw materials to zero.  Right now you can harvest ore and sell it for cash.  It wouldn't impact players much as long as you can get cash from the refined materials (which is not automated in the same way.)  It's too bad, but I expect that this is the likely end result.

    This happened during Rift's beta quite a lot, especially in PVP.  You are correct though.
