Hows the game population

How busy is the game a few days after the official launch?

I read threads on places such as TF claiming that Cyrodil is a ghost town on all apart from 2 instances???

Surely this cannot be the case so soon after launch?

Thoughts?

Also to add onto this when will they announce how many copies they have sold?

All the public tombs and caves are still ghost towns. Means, there is so much players, that you have no chance to enjoy whole story of quest, because someone is still doing that and the NPC are always already dead, or the scene/animation is just ending. You are able to just hit NPC once to complete the quest, but no way to enjoy it like in Skyrim cave where you are alone and experiencing all that great feeling. Personally I think, they should give possibility to choose public or private instance for this "public places"

I doubt the average gamer will notice a difference, due to the way the world is designed. Even if they gain an extra 1M tomorrow, you'll still see the same number of people running around. Due to the instancing, new copies will be made to facilitate the extra people, keeping the amount of people per zone relatively constant.

The only place noticeable will be Cyrondil, since the amount of active campaigns (aka copies of the PvP zone) is visible.

I don't know what TF is and I avoid reddit as much as I can, so my response comes from my personal experience.

There are loads of people playing. In fact, I feel that there are too many allowed in each instance.

Cyrodiil may be many things, but a ghost town it is not.

Oh, and I play on both the EU and NA megaservers.

Most people are only dabbling in PVP right now, there's skyshards and skill points to be had in the PVE side of the game.

Plenty of time for Cyrodiil later.

There only ever were 2 of the campaigns that had fully populated factions, it's not as if a bunch of them were full and are suddenly dropping. During head start only 1 of them was full, so with 2 full now and a few at medium it's actually picking up. It may feel like a ghost town at times just because the area is so big that unless there are some really large zerg vs zerg battles going on you have to do a lot of roaming around, or know the right places to be, to find fights. When there isn't much going on as far as large scale fights I tend to do things like hang around enemy keeps to catch people leaving, or hang around skyshards and the various areas offering up quests, as well as some of the public dungeons since chances are people will be heading to those places when theyre not busy attacking an enemy keep or something.

Reading the guys post saying he rolled on Scourge and found at most 3 people logged in during the EVENINGS is very disconcertig indeed :(

Seems like Wabbajack plus one other are ok, but the rest of the instances are dead....

Wabbajack and Auriel's Bow are the top 2, Auriel's bow is generally at or near full 24/7 right now. there are like 3 others that tend to get up to medium pops at some times, but I dont believe Scourge is one of them. Pretty sure it is always low pop. It tells you the current pops when you go to join PvP so a bit unsure as to why the guy would knowingly select a server that says it is the lowest pop and expect to see a ton of people. Sounds like nothing more than trolling or simply lacking common sense. That would be like picking the lowest pop server on any game and then complaining nobody plays when there are other server full of people.

Also, you are able to change home campaigns. If not before then, I think by then end of the current season we will likely see people spread out a bit more between servers instead of just flooding 2 of them. People will want to be emperor, and there can only be 1 at a time per campaign. So you will likely see some guilds switching over who cant take the spot in the main 2 campaigns but are willing to settle for having an emperor on a different campaign.

Yeah because Cyrodill is the only part of game!

And since wizdom is not the strongest around here, let me tell you that majority of people are actually still leveling (and evolving their toons into proper PvP machines) 5 days after release, with Cyrodill being a thought for the future and occasional trip.

That's discouraging to hear. Cyrodiil campaigns are the closest thing to normal servers in ESO. With 10 of them for US and EU, that's a max of 40k players in at any time. If only a few of them are full that means the game's populaton might be low, or maybe people don't care of pvp and are levelign instead(then again, TES games aren't about pvp).

But, GW2's WVW was filled with queues in the first week from what i remember.

As for PVE, because of the megaserver/sharding tech, you can't get an accurate idea of player pop OP. Fortunatly, that same tech allows players to see each other much more easily than normal server structure.

How about the feedback from the FANSITES I linked....are they just trolls and haters too?

Who's pushing for a fight? Certainly not me.

I asked for community feedback and linked supporting evidence from well known fansites.

I was then attacked because of it. Seems many ESO fans turn like wounded animals when people try to find out the reality behind the hype /shrug

I would say the game is lively.

At least I have noticed a good number of people around me while questing and plethora of Cyrodiil during EU prime.

  • DerrosDerros Member UncommonPosts: 1,216

For the questing system that they have, it seems almost like there are to many people.

On Cyrodiil, im guessing alot of people are waiting till 50, or at least higher levels to get into it.  Most people are just running around to get skyshards.

Sorry, but you are just proving @moguy2 point right there (I mean, generalizing like you are doing). Anyway, may I ask, did you finally bought the game? Because it seems (given your previous posts) that you don't like anything about ESO.

You do realize that your post history is public right? You have a total of two posts that do not relate negatively to ESO. Try harder......

No I have not invested yet.

I do not hate everything about the game. I dislike the stilted animation but that is related to the  game using the Hero Engine more than the game itself. I am also genuinely awaiting a fix to the poor design decision of advertising player accounnt names publicly before I decide whether or not take the plunge.

I have already purchased DS2 this month and have set aside the funds to purchase ESO and try it out but I am not going to do that if the game is DOA....hence this thread.

I remember when GW2 launched the PvP areas were extremely busy almost immediately. With ESO it seems from the fansite feedback that all bar 2 PvP instances are dead.....which is very concerning indeed.

Any thoughts on this? Dates are between 30 March - 08 April.

I know not everyone uses Xfire, but it still show some trends.

I remember when SWTOR or GW2 launched, they were in the top 5 positions long enough. ESO is between 16-19 position.

So are the ESO players using Xfire less than other gamers? Are the sales lower than many have thought? Or is something else?

Locking this due to the antagonistic nature of the OP's responses. Clearly baiting.
