New to MMORPG's

Well, I have never played one P2P game in my life. I didn't use to support it(I was young and stupid lol, and now wish I would have), since I figured the game company's were just ripping us off trying to make tons of money. I came to my senses the past few weeks and have been wanting to try some, I now realize how hard it is to develop a good game and then pay for the servers(since I have tried it).

Anyways, a I have a few questions:

What's the best one out to start with? I currently got Everquest(including all the expansion except the last 2) for free from a friend. I was gonna sign up tonight but you need some kind of account key and my friend hasn't been home all night so I have been wondering through MMORPG sites till I found this one. My friend also DAoC which he is willing to give to me for free. I think I would like roleplaying(never tried it really even though I own NWN rofl), and PK(player killing, team based). DAoC sounds great in PK, with RvR. I almost got that, but I knew a lot of people played Everquest still(right?) and wasn't sure if a lot still played Dark Ages or not.

Also, since my friend apperently used the free month on EverQuest and DAoC can I still get a free month? Like does it go by what credit card you enter or the key? I guess I could just go buy DAoC for $10 at wal-mart and get the month which I would prolly do if a lot of you suggest for me to start with that instead of EQ.

Anyways, thanks for any info!

it all depends on what you like man.

you like action? i would suggest world war 2 online www.wwiionline.com its a great game that lets you and thousands of other players fight out world war 2, over the internet.

if you like more fantasy (IMO gay) games, then you might wanna try final fantasy or something

Shagalot is right it really depends what you like but to help you a bit most discussion seem to be about if a MMORPG has.

    Solo/Grouping(feasibale)/Force Grouping and PK(Player Killing)/None PKing

Dont get me wrong there are a lot of other parameters like secondary/trading skills and much more but the main opinion clashes seem to be about top mentioned things.

Also I have noticed that MOST gamers seem to prefer MMORPG that have high similarities with the First MMROPG they ever played. If that theory is true early UO gamers will never be happy with any MMORPG again.

As I tried quite a few MMORPGs out there I am quite prejudiced but personally I'd try out the new one coming -> NOV.2003.

Well, I think what I am going to do is try either DAoC or EQ. Then I will cancel my account with either of those and subscribe to Horizons, or wait for WoW or EQ2.
