Trion Worlds has sent word that the alpha for ArcheAge has officially kicked off and that the NDA has been lifted. Participants will be allowed to write about their impressions and much more. To celebrate the big occasion, Trion has released a brand new trailer. Check it out!
See all ArcheAge Enters Alpha with New Trailer! April 09, 2014 [Mount up!] Future explorers and adventurers, We’re very proud to announce that Trion Worlds’ Alpha test of ArcheAge has begun! Alpha is an opportunity for a hand-picked group of ArcheAge fansite operators, livestreamers, and select community members to sample the game before launch but more importantly it’s a chance for us to learn from their experiences and test that our systems are interfacing well with the game. To mark the occasion, here is our new official Alpha trailer on our YouTube channel: We’d also like to announce that as of publishing this article, the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) on Alpha has now been lifted. Alpha testers are welcome and encouraged to screenshot, stream, and share their in-game adventures with the ArcheAge community at large. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the best content and highlighting it here on the official ArcheAge website. Barring outages or maintenances, the Alpha servers will be available all day, every day.
This milestone brings us one step closer to releasing ArcheAge in the West, with only Closed Beta and Open Beta ahead of this year’s launch. Want to be part of the Alpha? Keep checking back for new ways to join this early test phase over the coming weeks such as contests, giveaways, and more. From all of us here at Trion Worlds, thank you for being a member of the ArcheAge community. Things are just getting started and we’re glad you’re here!

Just announce the Founder's Pack so I can buy it already!
I think it's a little bit of both. Some of the RU live streamers didn't get invites either. Yet random people during Trion's Twitch demo got alpha keys, along with official forum posters.
Just as well I guess, the beta would be a better play experience anyways.... alrhough iirc alpha access guarantees beta access, which is a good deal regardless.
Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History"

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
so tired of CGI trailers, just wish the game could ever play like them
I know the feel my bro.
I am rooting for this game. It's truly sandbox. Very exciting.
From one of their site entries on what they are doing to prepare for beta:

Pretty much. The game was feature complete before Trion ever got it. So far on all the videos I have not seen anything different from Korean or Russian versions. I suspect they are calling it "alpha" to justify dragging their feet for so long.
Yay for decent voice over on the vid for the first f-ing time!
I just hope its a sign of things to come in terms of the game's voice acting (implying there is much lel)
maybe if the game has the same level of graphics as the video too
Trion dragged it to the point where I feel many don't even care anymore. They may care again when the NA version is actually "tangible", but at that point how many other games will have released? I feel that Trion really dropped the ball with AA, they had an opportunity to get the game out before the next big round of mmos came out, but they dragged their feet. Hell, even SoE got Landmark going before the NA version of AA.
They had a tremendous missed opportunity, and it may come back to bite them in the butt.
Was there a need for nda to exist.
Everyone knows about the game and most of the people have played the russian or the korean version
Trion didn't even have a beta site to sign up for half a year ago.
Not sure what time line you are from, but it isn't this one.
still waiting for real news:
- Beta and release day.
- Payment model.
lol how and they dont demand 200$ for early access on alpha ?
Three questions.
1. Well the hell was there an NDA in the first place?
2. Alpha testing a game that was released 2 years ago. Really?
3. Where the hell is my alpha key?
there was a leaked alpha signup page for aa, it was featured in mmorpg.com, i know because i signed up for that too
