Sad For Modern MMO

patient32patient32 Member UncommonPosts: 96

I'm quite saddened by Modern MMOs and Modern MMO Companies.

I'm saddened that they view it so much as a business, and not about really aiming for the top with their game.

If they can earn enough profit, from the initial release of the game, then that is all that matters to them. They can move on to the next game and hope to emulate that same initial success - a success that gives them back all their investmant - and a little bit more.

They operate under the idea that "What is the point of putting in effort to make an original - or even non-original but awesome game - When you can just churn out something and earn profit"

This continually occurs because so many of you people keep deluding yourself into thinking the game is good.

Finding enjoyment in an MMO for 18 days does not count as a good MMO.

While you might have "a lot of fun" initially... For the first month or the 2nd month, and come on these forums stating all that "I like this game.. You are entitled to not like it - maybe the game just isn't for you" nonsense - an MMO should offer a lot more longevity than a month or two.

Quite truthfully, those people are what's wrong with MMOs. The companies keep churning out substandard product, and getting away with it, because these fools keep lapping it up with a dumb grin... And enjoying it for a month.

An MMO should engage a person a lot longer than a Single Player game. It's fine to enjoy a Single Player game for a couple of months only - but an MMO should keep you interested a lot longer.

I just wish a company would come along and aim for the top. I'm sure mostly all the developers realise their game isn't all that good.

Please, MMO developers... If you aren't aiming for the top, to make the best possible game you can make, then please... Just don't bother.

"It's like a finger pointing away to the moon... Don't concentrate on the finger or you'll miss all the heavenly glory" (Bruce Lee)

(Insert your favourite mmo here): ......And behold, a pale horse.... And a million hellishly bad mmos followed with it.

If a game is fun for 18 days, then what's wrong with playing it for 18 days and then moving on?  Bad games tend not to be fun on the first day, either.

I believe the point he is trying to make is that those 18 days of fun are because of the newness of the of the environment and graphics, but once you settle in, the redundancy of the same old same old mechanics and foundations start to show their ugly heads. Many games do a good job of masking this redundancy with pretty bells and whistles or better graphic skins, but in the end you are simply playing the same game you did 4 or 5 years ago, but with a new pretty flower dress on.
