One of the more compelling features coming in Black Desert is party formation combat. The team has released a new video from the second closed beta phase that shows how this will work. Check it out and let us know what you think.

    good vid!  Not as imressed as with the character creation one but it's still looking good.

     

    It's abit flashy tho. wouldn't want to group up with too many players with all those shiny moves

    Mmorpg covered the first and fourth video but missed the second and third. DAT inconsistency, can't generate hype like that. This site needs its new hype sponge since ESO has released bow.

    They had a try with this in Lineage2 a while back were you had to combo up to do some ultimate skill. Long story short , it diden't work out so well as it sounded on paper, so they removed it in the next update.

    Looks cool but is not as fun. Ofc this might be working well for them :)

    Terrible mechanics! Just stand there and redirect your power to other players?  Just look at that! One guys is fighting and 3 just stand there and channeling. Kudos to devs to try something new, but current form of it is just terrible.

    Pearl Abyss is working on an english client while looking for a proper western publisher.

    All I see so far is a standard Korean f2p game with somewhat better graphics.  Certainly do not see what is worth hyping it for unless you are really just into graphics.  I don't see anything in the way of gameplay that looks interesting.

    Ozmodan that's because mmorpg.com hasn't covered any of the sandbox aspects. This game has a ridiculous amount of features.

    Ya I'm not impressed with the standing there feeding each other power like mechanic for the heroic opportunity type combat. Also it does look a bit to "power ranger" style in the combat moves. The graphics quality and art style looks pretty good though.

    Looks like it's going to be one of those Korean MMO's that looks great in screenshots, but doesn't actually play very well at all.  I'm also a little doubtful at how much traction that power-up mechanic would get in the west.  I don't know many people who are interested in just sitting there perma-buffing someone so that the other person can do cool things...

    Its not a perma buff its an ability unlocked at level 40 used to help beat more difficult bosses by unlocking special abilities through formations. it can also be channeled at bosses to interrupt their special abilities. Its a spell, it has a cool down and its only a small part of combat not mandatory.

    Looks very interesting. I love the idea of still having party roles, but giving everyone a chance to shine by working together to channel your power into them.

    Hate the visual effect of it though :p

    I have to admit.... it was pretty cool but the whole "beam to buff one person" deal is just... so dull. That being the focus of the video really made the group interaction look... very lackluster.

    Not sure what the deal with those multi beam buffs are but they make the group play look alot more boring then it probably is.

    I was under the impression it was to make the tank get more aggro by channeling the spell to him and he was giving the shot to build the aggro itself. But like the other poster said it is a ability that gets unlocked  and on cool down and only a small part of the combat. It is good to know , if it was like that all the time omg it will be boring.

    looks like this team on black desert have some really talented people on board.  Hopefully its not another year plus before we get to play.

    Has it been 4-5 years since we saw Blade and Soul trailers for the first time? Aion, Archeage, TERA, C9, Vindictus... So many great looking games we got YEARS too late. 

     

    When I first saw the Blade and Soul trailers in 2009 I couldn't believe it. But I got into beta last year and... the combat (like here) is flashy. It's cool, the music and art is out of this world and it's atmospheric. But, these games seriously. Seriously lack fun progression. The mandatory quests are third tier. Even for MMORPGs. 

     

    I hope we will get ArcheAge soon, and that Black Desert will come soon as well. But I fear these games are not relevant anymore when they finally hit.

    I agree.  It's looks really bad.  And that camera shake is absolutely obnoxious.

    100% agree with what has been said above: the mechanic looks stupid. Why would anyone "play" to sit there and push a button to "channel" something into another player, and have them do the actual work?

     

    MAYBE this might be fun to have in a very long fight: need to take a bathroom break? No problem, just channel your power into someone else and let them cover for you.

     

    Still, the behavior that it seems to promote is counter-intuitive at the very least.

    true this site doesnt keep any pretenses, they just fly where the winds blows ...

    there are other 2 videos which shows the action combat ( you can see it also on the 4th.. ) and the 3rd shows some mini games and UI mechanics like crafting/gathering/milking cows/trading even sitting on the wall ...

    also criticism like @gunmanvlad is based on speculations, but if you search in their facebook page or other deeper interviews, you will read that these are formations which dont last for ever and have a countdown. But yes dont bother you from the sleep of holy trinity ...
