F2P after next WoW expansion

mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450

I was really hoping this game would be the one that would grip me.  Other than mundanely wandering from location to location to do the same old quests, there's nothing else to do (I don't do pvp anyway).  All of the scenery looks the same and the map isn't seamless - you can't walk into another zone, there is a loading screen, so it doesn't all feel so big and natural.

Once the next WoW expansion comes out, few people will still be playing this and it will go to F2P - wait til then.

And this post exemplifies it all.

Instead of letting this obvious flamebait thread die, all the fans will now go ballistic and post on it, keeping it alive. Only then to complain about how people just bash the game and the forums are negative.

    3....2....1.....

EDIT: Just to respond to the OP, if you don't like the game, that's completly ok and nothing wrong with posting about it. But stating how it'll go F2P because of WOW, is quite trollish abit. You could atleast edit that part out.

But then again, i'm not personally complaining

I'm going to burst your bubble now. ESO is an amazing game and mmorpg. It's 1000x better than WoW and it will have many subs by the end of the year. With Craglorn coming and even more content updates and expansion ESO is going to be a hell of a game.

I wan't here to troll or bait flamers, I'm just saying that I've spent quite a lot on this game in terms of time and money and It's not (yet possibly) what I'd hoped for.  Feeling disappointed (can't help how I feel), that the game will go the was of The Old Republic and many others etc.

The reason people are still into GW2 is because it was a one-off payment.  That's a hard act to follow if you are going to charge a monthly sub.

I just have to say that being seamless does not make it better, matter of fact it can make it worse.I understand the positives of both so i never care one way or the other but if i could i would choose a loading screen per zone.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I wouldn't call you a fanboy for liking the game.  I like bits of it too, but, in 2014 and for a large one-off payment and monthly fee, I expected more than Lord of the Rings with better graphics.  Again, just my opinion, but it feels very much like playing that game.  The crafting, the character movement, the armour/clothing - all of the zones look and feel the same.  It's difficult to pick out locations as nothing really stands out as being different.  The NPCs are static and unless they have a quest or sell something, there's no interaction so no point them being there.

Everyone ust runs around at 100mph to do quests - you are lucky if you get to speak to anyone before they are gone.

It's just nothing new as I'd expect something new in 2014.

Please tell me what I am overlooking, instead of just LOL at my opinion.

There is no chance that this will lead to a useful discussion.  Why post it?  I read the books, listen to the questgivers, and I've found the questing to be on a par with ES games.  I really like exploring.  The different zones are radically different in appearance - there are deserts, tundra, forests, mountains.  The overland regions are huge, with instances being used very sparingly relative to MMO norms.

There are things about this game that I could see being problems for some people.  But you've taken (frequently quoted) strengths and called them weaknesses.  Have you actually played the game?  Past the starter island of a single faction, and not in beta?  If so, where did you find "all of the scenery looking the same?"  Because this sounds like a pot-shot from a one time beta player in one spot, not an experience from someone who has invested more than a couple of hours into it.

Bro, stop predicting too much you're not a medium. BUT! look at FFXI, they say its 1000x better than WoW when it was new, look at it now... though they are going well with the many 1.5 mil or more subs, then again probably 70% of those subs comes from japan it self, I'm glad for them. ESO is still an early bird, I played it, great graphic, great combat, however I would not say its 1000x better than WoW, specially when WoD out! Garrison system, take me away pl0x.

That's my personal opinion of the game. WoW is the shittiest game on the market. ESO is one of the best. GW2 is also one of the best and when GW2 launch in China in May. DAMN. It will explode.

Garrison? One feature and some new models to NPCs won't change WoW. Blizzard could have made these changes five years ago and yet they delay it.

Then there's ton of other mmorpgs coming out. WoW will most likely go F2P in a year.

Can we make a deal? For everyone who makes a f2p prediction on a p2p game. If they are wrong you're exiled from this website? Or at the very least we can always come back to this whenever you post anything and hold it against you?  If you're right  will all pitch in and get you an ecard or something.

That's a deal.  And if it goes to F2P, you can get lost too.

I sometimes wonder why people join forums - clearly you don't like to hear people who have a different view than your own i.e. I must be a troll, I must leave the forum if I am wrong.

    Dear oh dear.

Isnt it a bit early to predict how the game will be in november?

Im a big Wow fan, and still have a monthly subscription. But I have just canceled that, and the feeling now is that I will not return to Wow, and its not only because of Eso. There is a lot of other fun games that will be released during the year and in beginning of next.

I will stick to Eso for the time being.

But the zones are immense. If the zones were tiny and you were constantly going between them, that would be one thing, but they're not. Would I prefer if they could be just as smooth as they are now AND seamless? Yes.

However, how can you complain that there's "nothing to do but mundanely wander from location to location doing the same old quests" and then bring up WoW? WoW's been doing the same old quests for a decade, and they're going to continue doing that in WoD. Why is it a bad thing in ESO, but a good thing in WoW?

Actually, WoW has pet battles, but other than that, ESO and WoW have quests, collectibles, crafting (just like nearly every other MMO). WoW's a great game and I'll still recommend it to people, but I just don't follow your thought process.

You can level up efficiently through PvP and dungeons in WoW.

    Dear oh dear.

Your "review" is so vague and off that it sounds as if you haven't played the game. You know full well that you're baiting people with your title and text.  That's not just "having a different opinion".
