ArcheAge is a really good game. Looking forward to the release.

Agreed - finally getting around to viewing the gameplay with all the alpha streamers, AA looks like a winner, and it has some nice tricks up it's sleeve.

Be nice to get into alpha too.

Ive seen a few ArcheAge videos (will check these out soon) and in all of them I see a standard themepark game that happens to be Asian.  You click on the quest guy and then step a few yards away and kill the mobs hanging around the lake, rock, etc. and report back.   I will continue watching and hoping I am missing something but fail to understand what is amazing about this game.   From what I can tell the gameworld seems fairly large, a definite plus, but is it endless click this guy and step over here and kill these mobs?

My videos only show what to expect starting out in ArcheAge and do not give a fair representation of what the end game is all about. You should definitely check out some other videos or streams when you get a chance that involve pack runs, pvp, crafting, housing and pirating amongst other things.

While I am not wanting to start a fight about what is better or worse,  I must say I haven't touched ESO or Wildstar since I got my ArcheAge invite. It is somehow flying under the radar and I can't wait to see it get the recognition and exposure it deserves.

Edit - It is interesting how the games that are (over)hyped generally fail to meet expectations and then a game like ArcheAge can fly under the radar and be such a gem. I know a lot of players will say it was hyped before and then lost steam since, and while they are right, I am surprised it hasn't picked back up since then.

Open world housing, open world pvp. Two of my most important features in any MMO, i'll be there, plus the open world sea combat and exploration seems awesome too. Even if it is somewhat themepark-like it will still be way more open ended than the rest of the trash out right now.

Archeage has hardly flown "under the radar."  The reason it hasn't gotten the publicity in recent months that other games like ESO and Wildstar have gotten is because it's taken fucking forever to get localized in NA.  It has nothing to do with this game being a "hidden gem" that nobody knows about.  EVERYBODY knows about it.  Most of us just got sick of waiting for it.  It may be a good game, but I've got some serious reservations about it based on footage I've seen.  But mostly, I've moved on to other games.  Trion is going to have to really bring their A game to capture the lost consumers who went on to other games.

Anyway, small suggestion for future videos:  Pan the camera out, please.  I wanted to see the surrounding world environment and get  a feel for how open and large the zones were, but it was tough to do while staring at your character's back the whole time.

Thanks for taking the time to make the videos, though.

This.  Even a little bit of freedom is so out of the norm these days I find myself playing a PvP based game (DFUW) and looking forward to a tab target asian game AA....lol.  I don't care about character customization but the other videos were cool.

I think he is frustrated because it has taken so long which is understandable.

I did say "I know a lot of players will say it was hyped before and then lost steam since, and while they are right, I am surprised it hasn't picked back up since then" at the end of my post but it looks like he wanted to add more to it. Things are picking up now though, hopefully Trion can continue to make the correct steps so we can all start playing soon.

This game is offering open world pvp and open world housing mmorpg. That sandbox is going to allow us to be creative and the open world is going to generate peaks and valleys of joy and pain.

I'm in the alpha, ArcheAge's themepark game is there to teach you about its sandbox game

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

From my videos of the starting area, it does indeed look like the traditional themepark that everyone has seen a hundred times. More and more Sandbox/Sandpark hybrid elements will open up as I continue to progress.

My dream mmo would be a Eve Online in fantasy settings.
Land to be taken and diveded by alliance's were thousands of players clash into each other.

The sight of that must be epic :)

AA does have a zone that does something like this, but i havent played it nor do i know if its similar to Eve Online were you hold land, get rent or income, build castles and defend it from invaders.

I heared it has something like it, but i do not know for sure.

    Great vids tough :) +10

I don't know much about ArcheAge besides it being a sandbox game being westernized by Trion but I found this video which is pretty cool:

Any game that can make you sail into the ocean with your buddies and get attacked by the kraken its worth playing.

PLayed the russian version. I haven't seen visuals like this in ages. Really sweet. It's addictive and fun to play. This and (hopefully) the repopulation will be my games for the forseeable future.

I generally haven't been the biggest fan of the Asian MMOs but this is one of the rare exceptions.

Well currently ArcheAge sounds interesting but my problem is that i'm not that much of a pvp player. Things like housing and trading are half way into the right direction for me but i need more convincing pve content, especially at max level,  to consider this game.

OP, could you share anything about crafting and the labour points system?

On Russian servers, it is 1LP per 5 mins in game for f2p players and 5LP per 5 mins in & out of game for premium players. That means for premium players, you only have 1440 LP to spend each day. That seems to be really little imo.

Iirc, it costs 10LP to mine an ore node and 25LP to chop a tree for wood. Say if you mine at a rate of one node a minute (which I think is quite low!), it will take 144 minutes = 2.5 hours to consume your all your LP. I am mainly interested in crafting in this game, but it seems a labour points system like that would severely restrict how much crafting I can do.

Do you know how it will be like on the NA servers?

Even though it is always subject to change since it is still in Alpha, currently it is 10 labor points ever 5 minutes from what the AA forums say. I haven't had any experiences actually crafting yet, but it definitely seems interesting. Apparently you can get to max level by crafting if you should choose to do so.
