Ummm are they changing anything to pull in new and old players? I tried to go back a cpl of years ago and the engine is sooooo dated, plus the Ui is positively archaic.

If its going to steam for greenlight, there needs to be something to pull me back.

My favorite MMO ever, there has never been another PvP experience like it. I am glad to see DAoC still kicking. To the Midgard  of the server Gallahad (if this server is still around) Kick some ass for me!

Agreed. I also tried to go back and it's just not playable any more.

AGreed, I'd play again in a heartbeat if they worked out a better UI/control scheme. It felt archaic in 2003.

WTB DAoC 2!  Tried to go back a few years ago, was feeling so dated but I loved the game long ago.  Best PvP days ever for me.

If they had made some changes/upgrades to the game, I'd say sure.  But, they haven't.  So, I'm not going to want to jump back in just for the same old, same old.

After the terrible problems that led to the closing of Warhammer Online, I don't think I could support anything of Mythic Entertainment any longer.  I tried Dark Age of Camelot and don't see how it can compete in its current form with the new games available and coming out this year.

I don't get why they don't just do a total graphical/animation overhaul on the game. Just rejuvenize this great RVR game and it'll have a breadth of freshness to it. Seriously, less worthy, completely off the radar games have had massive overhauls, why not DAOC?

The game is still very relevant in terms of mechanics. RVR is a big thing even today, but games today don't have the same faction/server pride like DAOC and SWG had.

DAOC had a massive graphics overhaul years ago, it didn't do much to bring more people in. They tweaked the ui a bit around then to. I just don't think they can afford how much work that would actually take, to truly update it to anything resembling today's standards. Even being owned by EA now.

yes the pvp was fun..but the questing and lvling in the world was enuff to make it a totall diff game imo...i really dont care for a pvp mmorpg game that you can max lvl in 1 day get geared in 1 day ..thats just not fun to me ...but the days of "old" daoc was great ..when you went out and  did some questing and ganking n dungeon crawling...but what they have now..just dosent do it for me

I loved the living hell out of this game when it was current, but I'm in the same boat as most people. The nostalgia alone won't last long enough to re-sub, and I'm not sure how well a very dated 13-year-old game can do in an already over-saturated MMO market. It was on the downhill anyway in 2004 after EA got their game-destroying claws into it.

I hope something new is added. I can't lie, I'd enjoy playing this again.

If they redid the UI i'd be back, and playing, faster then you could say wtf. The graphics don't bother me in the least. I just can't take the UI.

I loved DAOC, it was the first MMO i ever played so it will always hold that special place in my heart.

That being said...why would EA even bother at this point doing anything with DAOC. Its been a downhill slope ever since the TOA expansion. And since EA bought out Mythic the haven't done anything with this game other than let it wither away. Players BEGGED for them to do the Origins server where it reverted the game to pre-TOA. They had some plans for it, teased us with those plans, then permanently shelved it.

This to me just sounds like classic EA trying to nickle and dime everything they can while putting the least amount of effort into it.

What would be the point in green lighting such an old game on Steam? Just don't see a reason for it.

It would be different if the game just received an overhaul that updated its graphics and UI to at least a 7 year old game, but that's not the case so why bother having it showing up in everyones faces on Steam when there are better, newer MMOs out there.

Downloaded last week, would go back if the graphics and UI got updated. This would seem like such an easy fix. It was really laggy as well.

I am excited to see some new fresh eyes on this though and hope they will take a swing at updating it. Love the classes and lore.

Graphics are good enough but I'm with the other posters, needs better UI/controls.

I wouldnt mind paying 15$ a month again if they updated the UI, upgraded the engine and removed the WoWification that came with ToA.

I played daoc for a long time and will always look back on it with fond memories, but I don't know how much a steam release will do at this point.  I feel like anyone with any interest in the game whatsoever would've heard of it by now and already made the decision of whether or not to try it out.  That being said, it's more about having a surge of players come back at once to make the game successful, so if they add enough incentive for players to return this could work out in the short term.

Maybe it's just me, but there's something really sad about the fact that games like DAoC and UO have to go through Greenlight to get on Steam. We aren't talking about some small indie games here.

Was WoW even out when ToA was released? Lol

No it wasn't! That shows you how bad the mindless wow hate is on here. DAOC was WoWified even before there was a WoW!
