All she did a templar could done it by simply spamming lingering ritual.
You could have a bow/destro staff and cast something else while at it, while also keeping resto staff in 2nd wep for the aoe heal if you really need it.
Truth be told, in 4 man's, get 2 templars with lingering ritual, doing any role, except maybe tanking, just to be safe, although I am a tank and I know this works, but its a struggle some of the time, and they can heal just fine.
Thats the beauty of a jack of all trades class, with the huge downside that most of your damage comes from magicka as well as your healing, to the point of where stacking magicka doesn't really cut it for all you need.
Also keep in mind that you have a whole tree "sacrificed" for the ability to heal without a weapon which uses the same resource as your tank/dps, people tend to ignore and simply see a multi-role class with a non weapon heal, when in reality all of it has to be managed very carefully unlike other classes where it's clear what you use and what you can't use.
Having the heal doesn't mean you can now be the support healer full time, you still need to damage the enemy... it's a thin ice kind of thing.
Restoration Staff healing is perfectly viable for the existing content, but I'm not sure it is going to work very well on the Trials when they arrive.
However, ZOS said pre-launch they were looking at the healing in the game, I suspect there will be a few changes to it with the update to make it fine.
