Just a quick question on do we need to fill out the form for the mailing list? I am just curious as I just wanted more information on what that is for.

Personally I would (and did) sign up for the email list. Not only do you get updates about the ARG, your email can be used to alert you when a new puzzle is active.
During Inception, they would send out emails to remind people a puzzle was starting soon, for example. It's handy if you don't want to give out your phone number.
