Ok , you all know that time when you just have to tell people how you feel ? well this is one time I do.

I have been very sceptical about Wilstar and reading about it and looking at screenies etc has not really taken my interest .,... until now .. I got sent a voucher code off GMG supposedly personal to me for 25% of Wilstar with access to the Beta weekends , so I thought what the heck that's quite a good discount so nothing really to lose.

I have got to say that I couldn't have been more wrong about this game , while indeed it does have a certain cartoony look it looks and feels really solid like cartoony but not , kinda hard to explain , so far after an hour of play I can honestly say it looks feels and plays brilliantly.

So from a skeptic with no interest at all in the game to someone who now cant wait for full release and the chance to really get my teeth into this game .. that's me !

I am being totally honest here and I don't often get this feeling that I have to tell everyone about a game.

If you have been feeling the same as I did , try it you may just be converted like I have. :)

I had almost no interest in this game at all and now that is changing fast. PAX East had a lot to do with that, so I'm giving it a real go this weekend beta, so far so good! I am getting VERY excited for this game. The dev team alone have me extremely interested, they seem to actually listen to the audience, communicate with them and that helps build the amazing community around this game so far.

I think this game will be a slow burner though, it will have a good 500k+ right off the bat, but then continue to grow with new consistent content updates, youtube videos of raids and pvp. I think when people start to see the videos and what this game has to offer, it will get more people to try it.

Very happy to see ppl like you (reading for a long time your posts) to join wildstar. Not because they were fanboys but as ppl who played it and have fun.

WildStar is a great game, Carbine has done an amazing job turning WoW into Sci-Fi and bringing back true raids imo. I'm still on the fence on buying it after playing several beta weekends, but I have a feeling it's going to be a pretty big hit. Glad you are all enjoying it, it can be quite fun, and with a little more polish on the combat/sliding issue, I can see this game going places!

I really don't know why people are comparing this to Wow , for me the only similarity is the cartoony look , but as I said its a cartoony look that feels solid and right .

It plays and feels like WoW to me personally, I know people fall on both sides of that opinion. I love the cartoony look, I'm not knocking it at all, it feels great!

  • I'm the opposite of OP. I'm not here to bash the game or anything but no matter what I see from this game, I can't take it seriously or connect with my character. It's just something I need in a game.

I was also one of those who was not interested, I used to tell everyone it looked like WoW. Then my first beta I played to level 5 and claimed it to be a WoW clone.

Closed beta entered week 3 and I was bored and realized my beta invite was being wasted. So I logged in and leveled up a bit. I was then this game is nothing like WoW out side of the typical questing hub system.

I would compare the graphics more to a game like Kingdoms of Amalur than I would WoW. You see though WoW is cartoony it's overall graphics and texture are garbage. Where this game as KOA did, makes cartoony look good.

I also was on the fence and was turned off by the cartoonish art style but I am really enjoying the questing right now. Definitely going to pre-order. Looking forward to dungeons and raids.

Just an update , I have been playing nearly 4 hours up to now , taking my time and enjoying the experience very much so far , only level 6 but the game has so many things to do and excellent little touches like challenges as you playing to kills different kind of mobs within a time limit. Also was surprised to hear a voice saying double kill and triple kill etc , thought I was playing call of duty at one point ! ... cracking game so far guys :)

The thing holding me back currently is not the graphics.  I can look past the cartoon graphics.  The animations, for example run, are just too over exaggerated for me.  The bouncing prancing along animations just kill the character aspect for me.  To me they are even way over exaggerated for a cartoon.  The rest of the game I am having fun, but I am a snob when it comes to the actually character I have to look at while playing the game.

I too overlooked this for it's cartoony graphics. And it's WoW-style gameplay. But I saw a good video over on youtube on a guy's 1-49 beta impressions and that was enough for me to take one of the many free keys for this weekend. I'm pleasently surprised at how polished this game is. I still dislike the quest hub centric gameplay, but apparently it's get really challenging as I'm leveling so it may not be too bad. I'm a huge dungeon fan for MMOs, so anything like vanilla/WoTLK WoW is great to me. I'm still skeptical, but I might just pre-order this. I was going to wait a little longer for ESO impressions to settle, but it's just get worse by the day while WildStar is growing.

What I think it's hard for me to get is the lore. I'm just not attached to it anymore then a F2P asian trash game. I loved the lore in the raids in WoW, and even basic questlines. I'm also far from a sci-fiction lover, and really have never enjoyed a sci-fi game. But there's just 'something' here making me think this game will be great.

I was very interested in this game and I finally got to beta test it right before they put the paywall to beta up, and while i enjoyed the games mechanics and visuals the piss poor optimization scared me off and unfortunately its to little to late now I cant justify spending money on something that ran that poorly "And yes I know optimizations come at the end"... ive been in enough beta tests to know that that late in the games build if its running that poorly its usually not fixable.  So for this title instead of preordering like i normally would im waiting to see reviews after 1-2 months to see if the fps have improved and ill be enjoying teso.

I did, with the screen shots movies and graphics. But once i have played this weekend, i really love the animations and graphics. I cant wait for the game to come out, by then i should have a graphics card to max it, and i will like it even more. I really love the mouth animations of the first guy, and the face animations. I suppose to many animations of the npcs dont matter, but to me it is a big thing.

I really like it, feels very smooth and good, even on med which i had to play on.

I dont see how you can say that, especially since teso runs worse. I have to play Teso on almost lowest setting with a r7 250, which isnt much of a graphics card. If you dont play teso at close to 50fps the combat doesnt work at all. Even with the highest end cards such as the 290x, and the 780ti, one cant run the game at 1080p, and i mean a constant 60fps. Not to even mention the teso doesnt have full screen.

It sounds like me your just a elder scrolls fan, that wants to troll the wildstar post, where some one enjoyed it. I would like to throw this at your attempt at it. Ever watch the npcs talk in the teso, it looks like the Canadian's in south park. They dont even look like people talking. Unlike wild stars almost perfect animations of people talking.

NO I just played the beta again and I cant buy this game and sub.

I don't care about the look but its just not good enough,if it came out a view years ago or had no subscription maybe.

what pissed me of is the screen is full of useless crap telling you things you know and cluttering the screen, and what put me of most was flashing you got to finish this mission whish I had.

it looks like a casino with lights flashing and the gameplay is average.

I hope its the final death of the typical theme park mmo.

the joke is just like FFXIV there will be about 10% of mmo players sticking it out and loving it I don't care its not interesting at all.

Running teso with i5k-something and gf770 every setting maxed and no performance issues, runs smooth as butter and very short loading times. I'm going to try it out one of these days on my old amd X4-970 quadcore with gf570 just to see if the old horse can run it smooth enough for some coop times to be had at my place.

What comes to Wildstar, I dont mind the cartoony look, I actually like cartoony art style if it's done properly, but what I dont like atm is so many people saying it's going to be a raiding game, and I dont care about raids at all. If the game has any other end-game content that might interest me I'm definitely going to give it a try closer to fall probably.

Not having a constant 60+ fps is not smooth as butter, and there is no way your 770 is running teso at a 60+ fps at all times. With 1080 res, and everything set to max, I am sorry its just not happening. So to say this game, which has low end graphics, that cannot even be run at 60+fps at 1080 is smooth as butter is a joke. Its impossible, because there is no full screen so you cant SLI. When a top of the line card like a 780ti, which there is no better single card, cant max a not so good graphic game like this, that uses a old engine. To say its smooth, well that is not my idea of smooth.

    Not impressed at all.

The advantage of having a cartoony game is graphics performance and a less cluttered environment. Seems like it just gave them an excuse to use lazy crap programming.

    Laggy turning, movement response.

Delay casting, blizzard is the only one that has ever gotten this one right. You cast a spell and it goes off, it doesn't feel like it's waiting for the server to respond. This alone is a reason I don't play other games.

I'd take Rift over this any day, and there is only one game I'd pay a monthly fee for and that would be WOW.

Until someone in the game industry refines spell casting and character movement to match blizzard, I will not pay them anything.

    Next.

Dont check there is no reason to. You think its fine, that is fine. It doesnt matter that i dont follow that standard. There is already enough posts on, 290s and 780s not being able to max the game. As well as I have had a over clocked 290 to 1050 1350 and it doesnt get a constant 60fps. The point is TESO is far from being a smooth running game. But  I cant justify spending money on something that ran that poorly, where its refering to wildstar. When TESO is so far from being optimized its not even funny.
