Mission Flashback

I wanted to shared something I just posted in TSW Forums. I think it is relevant discussion:

"Originally Posted by Shezbeth: But if they don't try to share their experience with everyone, you can bet that they'll hit a big wall " (In reference to the 5k and 20k mission pledge)

They will, big time. Expect "Big Brothers 1984", some mission will be in a desert haunted house in the middle of the forest, other will be in a empty old manufacturing building or a Giant Container ship, All location that make you think of a classical Lovecraft setting...

And there will be terminal and camera for you to interact with them. We started to built the foundation of Black Watchmen Inception 3 years ago, mostly on our spare time but we wanted you to have that feeling of table top rpg night when a new hub is open. We want to attach the hub more closely with a location (hence the rupture site).

Some of them are memories of something really bad and you will explore these via the hub, other are pure fiction of something about to happen and you need to save the cheerleader.

One key mechanics we are also developing is the mission flashback concept. Often the sad part is to wake up and see that the mission was over because that night you missed the phone call or whatever the trail heads was.

Flashback mode will actually enable you to replay the puzzle at the speed it was originally solved and to maybe beat the clock yourself. So all IRC chat, stream and puzzle unlock will be recorded and replayed with a twist. It will be customized for you. It will skip to key part of the chat if you are getting ahead by mentioning specific words. Simple interaction will be in place if this time it's Shezbeth playing the flashback and solving it instead of TheChosenOne like it was in the original event, people will congratulate Shezbeth and PM him for the answer, etc..

You will still have the luxury of going straight to the forums and ask for the final answer but the flashback module will let you relive the hell of solving it. =) Another nice features, you will be able to enter the duration. So the flashback duration will be set on your parameters. If it took 5h to solved it and there 3h left until the next mission, you can replay the flashback in 45 minutes - 1h so you can be up to speed with the community when the live puzzle go on.

There is a lot we can customized so you really feel that your are interacting with the flashback.

The same way we reference Ten Forward for the permanent RP forums/chat room, Imagine this as your Holodeck where you go to start program Tom Paris - Captain Proton 1256.

Imagine if the thousand of chat log were saved in our last 3 ARG, the wealth of information and entertainment we will had at our disposal.

I suppose I'll have to start censoring myself, if it's going to be saved in perpetuity.

But really, Fantastic.  Can. Not. Wait.

That sounds like a really good feature. Often, people don't just ask for the answer, but want an idea on how we found that answer. Flashback will help keep people up to speed.

And don't censor yourself Tyryt. Why deny people the full experience? :P

    Great idea!

I had arrived right after the end of mission 2 of TBW ARG and missed mission 5 too. I was a bit frustrated about that! ;)

This sounds very interesting actually. It is a nice tool for people who are not available 24/7, but still want to be a part of the ARG.

Useful - especially for those of us who might be in different timezones.
