Alright, well, since I was having these stupid Windows Installer problems (among other things), I decided to format and reinstall Windows. After doing so, I installed a few necessities (ZoneAlarm Security Suite, Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird...). I ran Windows Update and got Service Pack 2. Now then...I try to install MSN Messenger, and I get Error Code 1601. I follow the recommendations on how to fix it...Start, Run, msiexec /unreg...I get there, and it says Access Is Denied. I only have one account on here, and it's the administrator, so...I'm not sure what the beef is.
Maybe it's a Windows Installer 3.1 problem? It's starting to really annoy me...
EDIT: I'm pretty knowledgable about computers, so if you can help, don't sugarcoat anything, I know what you're talking about
Oh yeah...I also changed my account name to just my first name instead of my full name after Windows was done installing...might that have screwed up the Windows Installer permissions?

A basic Windows Messenger comes installed, but it's old and not nearly as good as MSN Messenger.
And I was getting the 1601 error...its fix says to go to Start, Run, msiexec /unreg, and that just doesn't work for me.
Alright, yeah, this problem is becoming really annoying and I don't know what else I can do to fix it! I reinstalled Windows, for god's sake!
