Originally posted by flizzer Ive seen a few ArcheAge videos (will check these out soon) and in all of them I see a standard themepark game that happens to be Asian. You click on the quest guy and then step a few yards away and kill the mobs hanging around the lake, rock, etc. and report back. I will continue watching and hoping I am missing something but fail to understand what is amazing about this game. From what I can tell the gameworld seems fairly large, a definite plus, but is it endless click this guy and step over here and kill these mobs?
I'm with you. All the videos I see remind me of FFXIV or Aion, I don't see why there is hype for this other than it is a new MMO. Asian MMO's are just bad traditionally, and Trion has show they can f up a game as good as anyone.

Not every game is going to appeal to every player, but this one is for me. Open world pvp, non instanced housing, castle fights, gliders and sea battles are just a few of the reasons why I will be playing.

Same here. Goddess of Destruction really destroyed Lineage II for me, but for me the decline already started with Kamael.... Glad AA is now available to test/play!

I am also glad AA is now available to test/play but I can't seem to narrow down what skillsets I want to play the most considering I have had fun with all of the ones I have tried so far.
I read in reddit that you do quests from 1-50 (fastest way to level up) then start to grind gears by killing mobs , and 3 know dungeons are instances
I am still leveling up, but so far I have been running from quest hub to quest hub. I generally don't like that type of traditional themepark leveling, but thankfully it has a nice flow to it. There are hidden quests as well and you can get xp from other sources outside of questing/killing which is always a plus. As for end game gearing up, I really don't know so hopefully someone else can let us know.
I have put a few more hours into the game than my last update and yep, ArcheAge is as awesome as advertised. I have alpha/beta tested many games over the years and haven't been this hooked by a single one of them until now. Awesome game is awesome.
My friend hit level 50 last night and here I am only level 17. I generally hate leveling in most games but so far I haven't felt the need to rush to end game. Part of that might be because it is Alpha, but the other part is because I am having fun during the journey instead of having tunnel vision on the destination.

From the looks of it, crafted gear is very powerful. I haven't had a chance to craft anything yet, but hopefully will sometime in the next few days

I beta tested L2 but never played at release. I went back to daoc and then over to wow after that. I wish I would have stuck around once it went live.

Is this game using quest hub to level up and run instances for gears ?
