You really should care less of what others think. MMOs are rarely good or bad for everyone and certain people tends to voice their opinion louder than others.
With GW2 there are 3 kinds: the ones that hates it from the start (or never start but hates of principle), the ones who level up a char or a few to max and then tires and the ones that plays for a long time.
I played myself since the beta but I still can't say if it is a good game for you or not, only you can say that. But since you obviously bought it I think you should play it some more to decide for yourself.
Oh, and that 30-50 level thing is no issue anymore, the megaserver technology filled up those rather empty (or almost dead) zones really fine now so there is plenty of people to play with, which was the main issue there.
Gear is still easy to get, you can always craft it yourself (fast and easy) if you have bad luck with drops.
As for PvP for gear, that is a new one? The complain is usually that PvPers have harder to get gear than PvEers. You can get gear through open world (particularly champs and chests), dungeons, crafting (really easiest), PvP (both types) and for living story. Now ascended gear takes some grinding and legendary weapon plenty of it (I am really close to mine but doesn't have it yet).
As for no endgame, that is kinda true but raiding as endgame gets tiring after a while anyways. You can still do fractals dungeons or any other content in the game.
My main is a necro aswell and in dungeons they are at there peak cause I play with minions and my survivability is very high and I usually end up saving the group on harder content. Necros on the downside isn't the greatest class for speedruns.
I have a necro as well but rarely play with pets. Lowers my DPS but that is just me.
Once you figure out the combat system (positioning and dodging are keys) most players find their own combat style.
Necros on the downside isn't the greatest class for speedruns.
Well, thankfully I am not really a fan of speedrunning and farming, so that hasn't been an issue. Speedrunners are like that in any game though, really exclusive and wanting very specific builds and classes.
Though lately I stopped playing my necro, but not because they aren't welcome anymore. I'm just level 1000 or so (I have over 700 skill points and all skills unlocked, and a legendary), and I'm trying to stick my skill points on my other characters. xD
I am only level 8, but I really think this game is fun, I love the combat, graphics, music and the community. However I have been on the forums and there is SO much hate on the game now since the patch and lots of people leaving that it makes me think is it worth the bother to get to 80?
apparently:
The 1-30 experience is ruined and dull
Gear and Gold is no longer easy to come by
PvE is ruined and if you want to get gear quickly you need to PvP
Theres no end game
All these things are what a mass amount of people are saying, there are forum posts with pages and pages on the guild wars 2 forum and most of them are filled with people agreeing with one another.
If I just want to PvE and maybe do some PvP every now and then, is this the game for me? Or should I play another game and hang out to see if they change anyything? I know theres 80 levels, yet so much time in the day and I just want to know if its worth the effort right now : )
Thanks guys.
There comes a time when you just have to try things out for yourself and see rather than fall victim of the red.
There is no point in even arguing any more, too many agendas, like each point you said that's highlighted in light blue, I and many others(mass amount) could say the complete opposite.
The thing is though just as the mass amount of negative people, no matter which mass amount says what, it's all just opinions and us SAYING it not even SHOWING it.
Now the tricky part with showing it, is for example the Level 1-30 part, that's subjective, cause it can be fun to me but not fun for the other guys.
Something that is false is Gear and Gold is no longer easy to come by
PvE is ruined and if you want to get gear quickly you need to PvP
Both those are actually false but I'm not even going to state why cause it's been brought up and argued about so many times it's redundant.
As for the no endgame, I'm enjoying the game still when I have time on my level 80 and got the game since day one, but endgame means different things these days so I can't say there is and there isn't, now really there are no actual raids in the traditional sense so there's that.
However believe what you want to believe, same with anybody else in this thread, I usually just come by from time to time [now] and look at false statements with "popcorn" and laugh.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

Yes you are right about the lowering DPS part and it really does but I use them to benefit the group as they take some of the mobs from us and they are easy to send in a group of mobs. But you are right by taking away the high dps you get alot of survivability but this is usually they way, get something and lose something else.
I suck at dungeons and so does my entire guild so we need survivability we sometimes have a "healer" aswell in form of water elementalist

What? There was only a minor change, all the old builds are still valid. You are acting like they completely changed all existing skills and traits.
Very constructive well founded unbiased review.
So you are the kind of guy who goes server hopping always following the strong people rather than helping your own server to grow stronger. That didn't work out - clearly the company's fault.
Ill echo the sentiments of one of the above posters.
Guild Wars 2, at launch, was one of the greatest 3 month experiences I've ever had in MMO gaming. The game was phenomenal, everyone playing it loved it, and there was very little negativity even on the forums.
But starting in November 2012 and continuing till today, they have managed to turn the best MMO (IMO) released in a decade into a 'C-' level Korean cash shop grinder.
I will never play another b2p or f2p game after playing this. They have intentionally made the game significantly worse so they could push more cash shop.
Now if you're enjoying the game by all means continue to enjoy it. But understand that 2 years ago it was 10x better than it is now.
There were no restrictions back then.
You could do world bosses or dungeons whenever you wanted too. The drop rates on good items were high and it was challenging.
Now you can only do world bosses once a day at a specific time of their choosing and the drop rates are so terrible that they had to add a guaranteed rare chest to entice people to do it. Dungeons are no longer challenging because of Ascended gear so they increased the HP pools of almost all dungeon creatures by 300%-500%. So while they're still extremely easy they take forever to do now and now you can only do them once a day.

It is a grind if you choose it to be. I've never liked any kind of grinding, and I love GW2 for that since grinding is entirely optional. Legendary or Asceneded? Pfft. I'm still donning exotics and I can hold my own in WvW.
The cash shop is kind of in your face. But let's be reasonable--they're in it to make money. How would a B2P maintain their upkeep if they don't make money? And what they offer in the cash shop is optional and for aesthetics.
I believe the restrictions were set in place to curtail bot farming. Granted, I did stop grinding mobs for tier 6 mats because of this, which is why I'm never pursuing a stupid Legendary. But for the most part of the game, I'm still enjoying the PvE and PvP.
These are my opinion, of course, and I say this as a casual gamer. I have priorities in life, and a sub-based game would not do me any good for my well-being. GW2 has its ugly side, but I applaud this game for its accessibility and freedom.
I found GW2 to be a waste of my cash, but that experience may differ with others. I made it to lvl 54 before I decided to uninstall. Even though it is B2P, I don't ever plan on reinstalling it. I would have more fun playing whack-a-mole or rubbing my face across the concrete.

You should just quit playing mmo's. All mmo's have haters on their boards. If you can't play a game based only on your feelings for it then just quit. If you liike it , then just enjoy it screw what others feel. People do it here all the time.

The endgame in GW2 is that you're having fun, not endless raiding which ruins your social life.
