If you're tired of WoW clones...You have to try this!

Atlantica Online.  I've been playing it for 2 years and have never gone a day where I have nothing to do. Here are 10 reasons why you should try! I noticed my other thread was in the wrong place QQ. Any other AO players on here that can add things if I missed any? It's sad that Atlantica is constantly ignored by Nexon even though it makes lots of $$!

TOP 10 REASONS TO TRY - It's not a WoW clone if you were wondering lol.

1) EVERYTHING in this game is FREE. All cash chop items can be bought with in game currency. THIS IS HUGE FOR A F2P GAME! It means its a true free to play game. Using the cash shop does have its advantages, but if you are willing to grind it out, you wont pay a dime.

2) Atlantica Online has the best community you will ever find in an MMORPG. Most of the players I've encountered are mature and friendly. It doesn't have a bunch of LoL RAGING players(THANK GOD). Why Nexon continues to ignore this game is beyond my imagination, besides the fact that they just don't know how valuable Atlantica is.

3) It's the ONLY true Turn Based MMORPG, and there's no other game that comes even close. Nexon again is too dumb to realize how good this game REALLY is. I refuse to play any of their shit pay2win games after trying Atlantica, it leaves them in the dust. Also, how many games allow you to have a George Washinton as a mercenary? He even transforms into a total badass if his hp hit's below a certain point.

4) The crafting system is beautiful. You can craft gear for all your mercenaries and it has its benefits. I won't go too much into crafting but it's one of the nicest crafting systems you'll see in any game. All the materials you need to craft are available through the market or if you're cheap, go farm them!

5) Guilds and Nations. This is what did it for me. When I first started playing 2 years ago, I was asked to join a guild. I didn't know what it meant, but sure why not! Best decision a noob could make. I was lucky enough to be in a great guild and a good nation.

6) Interactions between players makes this feel like a real MMO. No, not everything is solo-able in this game. You actually HAVE to party with other people unless you're one of those OP players.

7) Nation Dungeons. How many other games require 70-80 people to complete ONE dungeon? Yeah, sounds horrible, you can fail easily if players dont listen(NOOBS). But once complete and rewards are mailed to every participant, it feels like the best accomplisments. Since Nation Dungeons require that many people from a nation, its typically run during weekends.

8) Final Fantasy fans out there? The game is turn based. The style is so unique with over 30 mercenaries you can obtain, mix and match whatever type of formation you want. The TBS missions will remind you of FF Tactics. This style isn't for everyone, but if you learn the game, you can really have fun with all the players in it.

9) PvP. Yes, this game's PvP requires THINKING. It's not just luck that will help you win in Atlantica PvP matches. You have to really master your mercenaries and their counterparts if you want a chance in PvP.

10) Goals. This is a game where you really need to invest time into it. Gear up all your mercernaries, level them, change formation as much as you want. The more time you will put in the more rewarding it will be. When I first started, one of my main goals was to get all my crafting levels to 50. It took awhile, but when I got there, and learned a couple secrets I now have all my skills over 120/140. Getting there slowly!

10B) Auto-Battle. Yes, its exactly what it sounds like. You can set your mercenaries to auto-battle while you watch a show, movie or work. Just make sure you check every now and then to heal them up!

If you look at ratings for this game, it's still one of the highest rated games out there. If you decide to download and try it out, join the busiest server as you will get the most out of it from there [ Argos Server ].

** THIS GAME IS NOT FOR LAZY PEOPLE!

NO. The game is NOT free. You have to pay for all those extras.

Bank slots are extremely limited, you'll be forced to buy them. AFAIK some of the better troops are available through cash shop.

From what I have heard from former players is at the later levels you are required to spend lots of money.

When you get higher the money required to spend gets less as your income exceeds your needs. If you go in the game and ask max level players how much real $$ they spend, majority will say 0. Just join a populated server like Argos or Sikyon and you should have everything. This is probably the least P2W game...

You sure about the least pay to win game out there...?

Who said this won't be perfect after all we know what is right
And the sounds of bodies clashing is enough to make them cry.
You know this cannot be perfect even when it is feeling right.
And the sound of bodies crashing echo through the night.

You won't ever feel like you have to spend money. Lots of players in your guild and nation will also help you out. It's the nicest community you'll come across in any game. They also had one of the biggest patches come out with a new Main that starts at level 30 with a free mount.

Total I've spent is 100 bucks, but that's because I really wanted the new mount and instead of just buying it in game, I tried my luck on its Mount Box lol.

If everyone (who hates f2p/cash-shops/etc) would stop complaining and just spend $15/mo or less on the so called p2w game it would be the same as any pay to play game AND eventually you wouldn't have to pay anymore.

a little P.S. FYI - nothing is ever truly free.

Saying wow-like != wow quality. He's being specific in regards to a game being just 'like' wow. I would imagine (I've only read reviews) that Atlantica's "quality" is very much wow-like.

You'd be surprised if you learned the game and market, how easy it is to enjoy everything without spending anymore. It requires actual effort, you only pay for luxuries which you can also buy with gold in game. So like most high end players, its not P2W. Not even close.

I cant believe I forgot about this game. Learning everything from scratch again is not fun rofl. Anyway, I sent you a message as I started over on Argos just today and could use a bit of help from starting over!

This game not being p2w has to be a joke, the OP is probably low level. The end game is 1000% p2w. I played it for 3 years and finally quit recently

I really liked the game but never hit max level.  I loved the pvp i did.   You really had to think and figure out which people to take out first or which of your guys to play.  I never spent any money on the game, but I forget which level I got to?  Its definitely worth checking out if you like turn based games and I would say fans of TCG should like it as well.  Its almost like an adult wizard 101.

Also know as Spreadsheet Online =P

you wont find a more in depth game.

To the guy that said this is p2w at end game, i heard opposite from max level players and how they dont spend any money. This is just the game I was looking for and PvP is unlike any other game where you have to be smart.

Eve Online aka spreadsheets online, how is it still running lol

Atlantica PvP, probably the most unique than any other game - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4265wxgS7Jg

I'm not a fan of waiting to attack another player, and just standing still while they attack you. You might as well be playing checkers or something...

I'm almost sold. (Hate booting to windows on my mac). Are there instances?

    Thats kind of the point.

Its the only game where PvP isnt heavily based on reflexes or 'twitch'.  Its strategy based.  However its not a slow game either, the timer does tick down pretty fast

The guild/town/nation system is pretty awesome.  guild crafting is a neat idea.  This game is certainly one of the most unique games out there.

If only it was a little more western (although some of the mob design is fantastically unique) and had a p2p or sub2win model.

i played Atlantica waaaaay back when it was published by IJJI. I liked the game although it was unpolished back then. I also liked the turn based combat. But i dont support P2W games so i left very early. Wasted potential if you ask me.

I played along time ago too, you should see it now. It's like a whole new game, looks a lot better and we get guardian mercenaries until level 60!

Almost level 55 now and join Argos server if you give it a try like OP said, it's real chatty.
