Runestone Announces Beta Test Sign-Ups for Seed
Roleplayers and Adventurers Sought for First Look at Unique New MMG
Aarhus, Denmark January 9, 2006 Runestone Game Development announced today that applications are now being accepted for beta testing Seed, the premiere genre-shattering massively multiplayer game slated for release in April 2006, with testing to kick off February 1st. Were thrilled about being so near opening Seed to our testers, said Lars Kroll Kristensen, CEO of Runestone Game Development. This is the first huge step toward launch, and after years of work were all very excited to begin sharing it with thousands of gamers! In Seed, players find themselves on an alien world in the far future as desperate human settlers who must work together to ensure the survival of their colony and the whole human race. By using their intellect rather than their brawn, players alone will decide the fate of the entire colony, set within a highly mutable and interactive world. Beginning February 1st, the testing phase will ramp up steadily toward launch, growing the population from the pool of beta applicants and ending with a stress test in March, where the community will be encouraged to come by the thousands to give Seed a try. With groundbreaking gameplay powered by next-generation artificial intelligence poured into a rich, comic-book-style 3D world, Seed truly stands out from the crowd. I really look forward to this game. Finally a place where you can forget about the usual monster-bashing and concentrate on mmoRPG'ing.
The game looks interesting to say the least.
The link needs a little fixing though :P Remove the www.mmorpg.com portion from the hyperlink
Hrm...I am clicking their "Sign Up Here" link and it only refers me right back to the same page with the link. Am I missing something? :P I already signed up for their forums a while back. Browsing through there for the solution now.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
Hello,
I got the information that there is currently a small issue on the script page, the devs are working on it and everything should be back in a few times.
Use this time to read the features and stories page, you'll find some very interesting things

ParaTrooper, That guy that used to mod the MMORPG.com forums.
The game looks potentially like a breath of fresh air from the hack and slash that most of us love.
Having spent time on their forums and their website I see it be a niche game for sure. They are targetting 30,000 subscribers at this point in time. Everyone will be on one persistant server.
Basically the story is about a colony ship sent out and things have gone terribly wrong. Now there is the struggle between keeping the tower that the population is now housed in upgraded or to spend the resources on terraforming the planet. This will be determined by the players as the game progresses.
The community on the forums for Seed seem to be much more friendly then most public forums. Roleplayers seem to dominate the forum, and can be a bit anal at times IMOP.
For anyone wanting who is tired of the same old thing in a game this might be just the ticket for you, although it is not for everyone.
That's some slow updating of links... so, for those still link impared:
