Quick status:
We hope with this we can beat 25k quickly. We are far from buying a building in Detroit for our HQ but shipping a Black Watchmen container around the world is still reachable I think.
Quick note, we have 753 backers, but 2 465 players opt-in for the ARG. The difference being the Lifetime Subscriber who did not contribute to the project.
Thank you all for your support!

Wow! That's a huge difference. It would be nice to convince more lifetime subscribers to participate in a way (even just for an iron-on patch ).
Still, 753 is already a good number and it's still rising!
753 is awesome regardless! I am curious how many of the lifetime subscribers were up sold in some way or another (even just the tip jar)? It's probably a little late now, but I still wish there had been an option for them to get a little discount for the advanced and above membership (like $15 off) so they might have been more likely to be buy in a little bit more (everyone loves a deal right).
Indeed, 753 (or 796 as it is now) is still great.
I think that the "problem" may be, as has been pointed out, that quite a few TSW players - myself included - are likely to have gone inactive, which more or less renders the TSW-benefits moot. Despite being a TSW GM myself, I've gone more for pledges that gave some sort of bonus related to TBW - be it in-game or fancy merchandise - than I've been keen to get the TSW related stuff.
By all means, there may be quite a few who might want to pledge to get the TSW exclusives, but this being a stand-alone game that will only be periferably related to TSW, I'd imagine more people who might be intriuged by TBW, would be looking for various bonuses related to this game specifically.
We have the Companion App (Normal Membership), Character involved in storyline (Advanced Membership), and of course the Dedicated Virtual missions and above. But what about nifty little bonuses or items related to the game?
What that might be, is, of course, a bit hard to give a good example of, as we aren't all that familiar with what might be possible.
Cosmetic items are a no-go, as we know - no avatars to kit out. But loot and items will be in the game, which of course brings up the whole other discussion regarding "P2W", if they were to make anything related to that - but please bear with me, I'm primarily brainfart-storming. (there's a mental image for you)
Something class-related, perhaps? There's been some talk among us about having an "Initiate" class, potentially acting as a fundamental class that allows equal oppertunities within all fields, and ones involvement in the various fields then results in the ultimate promotion into one of the "Basic classes". Keep in mind that skill level is only relevant to frequency, not potential, of the various missions.
So, whether or not that's an option, what about pledges that grants the players a single level in a skill?
"Educated" - +1 Real World Knowledge
"Acute" - +1 Code Breaking and Puzzle Solving
"Eidetic Memory" (sorry EVE) - +1 Online Research and Analysis
"Focus" (..*ahem*) - +1 Tactical Skill (APM)
"Technophile" - +1 Companion App
"Empathic" - +1 Community Leadership
Perhaps making it a limited time offer, to reward (and entice) those who are intrigued by the game already - perchance limiting it to only be available up untill the goal is reached.
In effect, if we do get the "Initiate" class, this only translates to a slightly faster promotion, assuming a promotion resets your skill levels to those determined for the new class, as there'd otherwise only be 4 promotions for Scientists and Soldiers, and 3 for Cybertechs and Snipers.
If we do not get the "Initiate" class, it translates to the players effectively going "Well, I appreciate you think I'm best suited for X, but I would like to involved in Y as well, if possible" - gaining some measure of self-control over their "starting character".
Either way, if every skill is reset to the new skill-levels of the promoted classes, it'll only affect the starting phase, effectively being the equivalent of a "head-start" opt-in; without HE actually having to limit access to the full-game at launch.
If skills aren't reset upon promotion, however, it might have to be a "cosmetic" bonus primarily; meaning you'd still be offered missions as if you had Tactical Skill at level 3, for example, but you'd still have to level it up from level 2.
I am one of the TSW GM bunnies, so atm am not one of the contributors, but payday is coming up, so that will change
I initially did not do a pledge (before getting the TSW GM access), due to wanting to check it out a bit more before pledging, but, I really like what I see, and am very excited about this, so will be adding a pledge, although, as already mentioned in the thread, the TSW ingame stuff is of little interest to me, as I currently do not play TSW.
I'm a GM but pledged a little anyway. I would like to see a better explanation of use of funds and vision statement before I commit anymore.
I agree. I also put some pledge down, but I'm really concerned about the physical incentives and the scattershot of "well, this is a cool idea we want to do" type posts around. Is it possible to get a more refined roadmap for the project's schedule?
Not asking about content, but more of a timeline when these features are planned to be brought online, instead of seeing a lot of "Please look forward to it" or "We want to do this Soon(tm)" type posts. I have complete faith in Anashel and the rest of Human Equation to make a great ARG (having participated in two of them myself), but I'm concerned that they're spreading themselves too thin too early in TBW's lifecycle, especially since they're things that are outside HE's historical strength (which is making quality ARGs).
