I have played alot of MMOs,alot. And one of two things happen to me in MMOs. I play for a few years, the game falls apart for whatever reason, and I quite and move on. or...
I play for less then a month because I don't like it.
But ESO is different. I like it. But unlike other MMOs I like, after about an hour or two, I don't want to play anymore. But if I don't play for a day, then I enjoy an hour or two of it. And that includes the PVE and the PVP.
Kinda weird for me. Don't know what to think about it really, and wonder if I will play for two years, or quit in a month or so.

Either burnout or the game only holds a mild interest, and doesn't generate the "need" to play. The mmos you sort of like, I find, are the most frustrating. You like it enough to keep playing, but not enough to really get your money's worth out of it.
Or you just realize there is no real reason to rush to end game ...after hitting end game in about 15 different mmo's you realize chasing the carrot is fun waiting for the carrot to move sucks
I wouldn't call it burn out. Its more exhausting. I think that's it, this game is exhausting. The reward really just doesn't equal the work, and the game just isn't that fun to excuse it. That is where ESO falls to me. Its just somewhere in the middle of a great game and a really bad one.
I think its because of the long progression they have put in game. You know you cannot eat the whole pie in one serviing, like a lot of mmo's let you try to do. You know the game will still be there later and its going to take long time to get where you want to be. I was a lot like this in EQOA when hitting level 50 took atleast two months of playing to obtain. As you get closer to the level of a new dungeon or towards adventure zones in end game, you'll start to feel that holy batman drive that will get you spending endless hours in game. It feels like I'm in a modern EQOA all over again and recognize what your going through.
I suggest a good supplement of your down time from the game with a TV show series, or a First person shooter game, I used to play Socom with my MMORPG's. Theres so many First person shooters out there right now, and I recommend a percription of one of those. Feel good you can now enjoy your MMORPG and a MMOFPS now.
The science behind this is that you are getting fewer rewards in the form of dopamine levels to the brain from the MMORPG, which is a good thing. The MMOFPS will give you that fix you need in dopamine levels that get you through the times lack of rewards from the MMORPG. This is why MMOFPS are so popular, is that they give a much higher dopamine reward then MMORPG's. Either way, any MMORPG that has the same level of dopamine levels of a MMOFPS are going to burn you out much faster as you cannot have a reward system that high without running yourself dry of a reward system, you only have a limited supply of dopamine that can be fed to the brain, use it wisely.
Sounds like the OP is trying too hard to like it out of sheer lack of interest in another game.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
New environment setting, then you realize the same old chasing lame quests and VERY easy ones at that with the same old markers over npc heads.People can slice and dice it but in the end the majority are all playing it and doing the exact same thing. That right there is NOT a role playing game but a follow each other through the laid out path type game...single player gaming.
The reason every single developer is failing this genre is they all think the sole purpose of gaming is to chase levels, then end of leveling they grind gear. That couldn't be anymore lame of a game design, you can get any teenager playing games to design a game better than that.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
moneys worth? this is $15 a month we are talking about here.....I can make that in 15 minutes at work....so theoreticaly I could play for 15 minutes and "get my moneys worth". I think its more is it worth my TIME, as I have a much higher valuation on my free time.
