To recap today's lol-event over at the Mortal forums, a great poll was posted asking if the community wanted SV to institute a wall shame system similar to Darkfall's unholy banhammer - especially after the latest duping event.
The poll was gaining steam, and got to about 40 votes for, only 5 against before GM Discord deleted the entire thing.
The main dev then responded in this thread:
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/threads/where-is-the-wall-of-shame-poll.99716/
As you can see from the replies - the dev has little ground to stand on. Every reason he gave for not implementing the wall of shame was complete and utter nonsense. It seems the GM's really are incompetent and lazy.
A smart business would see this kind of community demand for transparency as an opportunity to deliver and impress with relatively little work... SV just gets defensive, deletes threads, and ruins an opportunity to show the community it is listening.
ps. You see diphling? This is why we take any serious discussion about SV/Mortal to MMORPG where we don't get arbitrarily censored.
Comments
Community made another thread. Developer posted excuses for not acting. Players (including MANY hardcore defenders of the game) tear the weak arguments to shreads. GM locks the thread.

Will likely disappear at some point as well...

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
Agree. SV simply has no capacity to maintain the list in a quality way. Here is the dev response on it. IMO arguments are truly valid.
"No we don't like the idea.
We discussed this a while a back and decided not to.
Here are some of my own thoughts on why not!
1.With our model, most of the accounts wouldn't be real accounts, they would be RandomDude80085.
2.It would take time from someone to find all the names of the different ways we ban.. say an IP ban, someone would have to find that IP and the accounts connected to it and write down the used accounts.
Wouldn't take a lot of time, but more then no time.
3.Anyone here could open up the darkfall account FarmerJoe or .. Discord and then go on a cheating spree until the account got banned. That way I would end up on that list without me doing anything. These are fake names but the hold some kind of value for the person who uses them. Say if I then want to join a guild in MO and that guild-leader searchers for my username to check me out, he would think I'm a cheater.
4.It would pressure GMs into banning people. Hey if nothing happened on that list of banned people what would the community say? Think you would go "hey, looks like they got rid of most of the cheaters" ..no you would probably say "hey GMs aren't doing anything!". This would put pressure the GMs into banning people rather then just stick to their written rules and base all of their decision of that.
Still I think it's an interesting discussion but right now I don't think it's a good idea."

The mentality of some players in games like this never ceases to amaze me, the players are why games like this remain niche.
What purpose does such a wall form other than a way for people to point laugh and maybe grief those who go up there? and as we all know, a small portion of such bans are wrongfully assigned, retractions can be posted but the damage is done to that persons reputation potentially ruining their experience after the episode.
So again, what purpose does this serve?
Also 40 people does not constitute the "Community" it is 40 people. Unless you believe that is the entire community of this game.
The thread was deleted in the first 10 minutes of existence. It only got to 40 people because of censorship. I was pointing out the 5 to 40 relative trend in favor of a ban wall.
Why don't you go look at any other poll posted on the Mortal forums that did not get censored and tell us how many people voted in total.
The developer has a good point about the names. If MO is a F2P game, so the majority of the names on the list aren't going to mean anything to anyone. The other points about technical limitations or pressuring mods to ban people seems like gibberish. I would worry a little about even playing the game if their method of tracking IP addresses and players is pen and paper, as was implied.
Every time I hear details about this game it just reinforces the idea that something is really wrong here.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
