I have great hesitation as well with all the hype of TESO and I was able to do beta without buying a pack I was only 2 glad I was able to do beta only to realize I wasnt going to put any time into it. I dont want to be out of 150 bucks just to not play AA . I think that I have have enough patience to wait for F2P. I like what I see but have not seen enough to change my mind at this point in time. I love the open world much like LOTRO I like to be to explore different areas and find stuff and to my knowledge this is the only MMO that offers that? Be able to construct buildings is this correct? Also by what I see its a very large world probably largest ever?

Yes the world is pretty damn big, 3 huge continents plus the ocean. And yes you can build, don't know much about it yet I'm still learning.
Originally posted by Makidian I bought alpha to learn the game so I know what I'm doing for launch. Not going to play much since it's going to be wiped anyway plus I don't want to be burned out before launch. All in all I think it's a great game, gonna be here for awhile.
Exactly why I bought it too. Learn the game a bit before launch. Maybe join up with a decent guild n make some friends to start off in launch with. With the all the features this one has I think it is easily worth the money. And you are given a good package. Might not have a fancy plastic statue or specially printed cardboard box. But how do those items help you in game anyway?

I will learn the game at launch and save myself $150. As it's f2p it's not like I'm eating into my free 30 days.
Lost 100 pines to the server outage last night and really do not even feel like logging in today.
Serious case of buyer's remorse.
I mean for $150 coulda got me a whole hour with that pretty , one wart girl up thar at the truck stop.
This from a poster who put ArcheAge in the same category as Wizardry and Dragons Prophet.
Wow.
You can get your money back FYI, ask for a refund.
I have to say there is no comparison to either of those lol.
There is 1000% comparison if you take it as I said it rather than try and twist it around to serve your hype.
In essence I stated that the new tread of AAA developers such as Trion, and SOE to now lease third party games rather that develop their own projects is revolting and shows a piss poor lack of foresight, integrity, and in the long run profitability.
When they do not have creative control over a project but rather do nothing more than translate and patch, they get exactly what they pay for and in the end so do we the gamer.
As time goes by, and the value of the current $150 package alpha access goes away, will it be replaced by another package that is equally attractive?
I like value for my $ and, while I do find value in the idea of gaining early knowledge of the systems the game has and don't have a problem with the price tag, I know I would have a feeling of frustration as I run into bugs not fixed, or complete systems not functioning, or when they wipe characters and all progress is lost, or when there is unscheduled downtime, or memory leaks, or........you get the point.
So for me I am leaning more towards waiting, I can always sign up for one of the cheaper packs closer to end of Beta and still get the 4 days head start, a glider, and a few other things for the reduced price. For anyone who has played MMO's for years since the beginning and tried all sorts or mmo's, the learning curve won't be to hard and any advantages had by Alpha players you can watch tutorials on youtube or twitch before game launches anyways.
I definitely am feeling the itch to buy the $150 alpha access anyways since it is the first access to the english version we have ever had and I have been waiting for the game to come out in english since I first heard about the initial development of the game years ago.
Maybe I will go play cards and win $150 and then have no option but to buy it....lol

I will not buy it, but for another reason (please post)
The reason is that in my opinion Founder's Pack need to go away.
Small Teams, and new developers that are trying hard to get their game out to the public is fine with founders + kickstart i think it's good for them and these guys should always do it, But for these "big" , medium companies i think it ain't fair, i know that people still buy them and that's why they do it, but since when in the past would u see anyone do this. it just doesn't make sense in my head.
Everyone has their own opinion and this is mine : Founder's Pack for games that have already been developed(AA for example) or even that are still in the process shouldn't exist, for new developers trying to show their talent and that actually care about the public and make games according to them, YEAH fine sure

These "BIG" companies are going out of business all the time. Not many companies are safe anymore. MMOs are expensive and if the game flops the company could go under very easily. If you want to see companies live after a flop they need something to help soften the blow.
I'm cool with founders packs but i don't believe AA is the sort of game ill put money into. Dont get me wrong. Ill be there at launch but ill be onemof the cheapskate this time

Decided to buy the Alpha access on a whim, sometimes you just have to do something crazy. Downloading it now, but won't get to play until tomorrow.
haha I got it on a whim too , cant stop playing it now , even thinking about when I'm not playing . Sad thing is I have wasted my remaining ESO 30 days.
Yeah, I said goodbye to my guild mates last evening while downloading the ArcheAge Alpha, didn't get a chance to play so tonight will be my first venture into the new world, really looking forward to it.

I bought the $150 pack after breaking it down. 75$ credits 45$ 3 month. I also know I will be buying credits and time later on when the game release, so The last 30$ was for the extra goodies... So after explaing it to 2 friends me and 2 friend bought the game and we are having a blast. Rowing our small 2 person row boat with 3 people on it and getting ram by a bigger ship tossing us into the water...

I wouldn't call it a ripoff. More of a scam. Cash grabbing and milking the consumers as much as possible to test their game.
People are welcome to spent their money however they like, but buying these packs is just further supporting the idea that companies can get away with charging their customer base for testing, an actual job in the software business, and they can change as much as they like for it.
When every game comes out charging an arm and a leg for anything, we know who to thank.
I bought the $150 pack, but my original reason is... well, admittedly a bit trolling. I read all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about how it was a ripoff and how people who buy these things are "part of the problem", and I thought to myself "Hmm... People get mad over the dumbest things." So, I intended to buy it and then brag about it so I could sit back and revel in all the irrational hate thrown my way.
Only problem is that since I got it, all my free time has been spent playing it. On the surface, it's not all that special. Tab targeting (which I don't mind, but other people seem to get all riled up about it), and a quest hub style of get to village, do 3 or 4 quests, move to the next, repeat. Admittedly, I'm only level 14, and I hear it opens up as you move forward. I'm already seeing signs of that, so I'm optimistic. Plus, other aspects of the game are slowly being revealed to me, like a trading system that's somewhat reminiscent of EVE, though perhaps not as deep. Acquire resources in one area, transport them to a high demand area and sell for a profit-- stuff like that.
I'm pretty optimistic, and think this game is going to turn out pretty special. I'm having fun with it, at least.

Originally posted by bestever I picked it up. I think I'm lvl 8. Its going to be a kick ass game. 150$ for something I've been waiting to play for year is worth it and I think its a pretty good deal for what you get. Its no different then picking up a collectors edition of any other game. The only ones who think its to much are the ones who can't afford it.
I bought it the minute it was available. This and Black Desert were games I had been looking forward to for a while. AA has lived up to expectations and [next payday!] my wife is getting the game as well. Currently my main is level 20 and I am getting into boating, farming, mining, looking for a GREAT GUILD [yes, I will create one if needed ]. The test to me is engagement... I got this Friday morning. The DL finished Friday afternoon. I have logged ~60 hours since then... I dunno - is that hardcore? I figure by the time it goes to beta, I will be around 40ish and around 50 ish by launch. The gold here is the bennies at launch - vurry nice but the REAL GOLD? 4 day head start baby.... 4 day head start
