I was thinking it'd be really cool if Turbine could do a AC 1.5 or sumtin like that, lol.
Start the game over at the beginning on a new server with the original storyline. Remember when Olthoi were the enemies and the Shadows invaded? How cool would it be to be back in that time?!? Get rid of bots and Decal and level again like a veteran AC player. Put the starter dungeons back to the way they used to be and actually start at numero uno. Change the dynamics back to what they used to be. Keep the graphics update and housing and a couple other nifty things they've implemented. I would love to go back to spell research, but that's a matter of debate.
Anyways, just thinking about AC being what it used to be. It's original luster has faded. It's still a fun game, but it's not what it was.
How many people have been on this forum and others and have said that would love to go back to AC, but it just wasn't what it used to be. I think tons of people who played AC would come back to it, if they went back to those times.
Leave the new servers like they are so everyone can keep there hard earned chars and work, but they can start a new char on this one and relive those glory days.
Losing the bots and decal is crucial to this IMO. When I hit level 30 in AC back in the day, it was awesome! I'm not talking about keeping all the new content and just starting a new server. I'm saying start over. I miss you AC
Just my thoughts! Prob never happen, but a person can dream!

I think the game is better after the patches. It has like 100 times the amount of quest content now compared to the amount at release. The old memories are nice, but I have some awesome recent memories of playing.
The main thing that made the old days great were the newbness and size of the population. It had lots of people who were just learning the game. Unfortunately, those qualities are impossible to recapture in a game this old. Even if you roll back the game, you can't roll back the playerbase's attitudes and knowledge of the game.
Just come on back. You'll love all the new quests and functionality they added over the years.
What Falcon said.
I think the fun of the game was just the fact that everyone was new.
In fact, I think that's really the main part of those original big three. Anyone who played EQ, AC, or UO (well almost anyone) will say that those were their best MMO days. The reason is that everyone was new.. nobody knew what to expect. Nobody was really good at the games, and the people that were good were the ones who revolutionized the game world of whatever game they were playing.
Now, I just can't seem to stay interested in MMOs anymore.. nothing will relate to my first days in AC, simply because they were just that.. my first MMO days.
You wouldn't have much fun since you already know what's going to happen and how to accomplish it. Hopefully DDO or LotRO will do good so we can all play AC3 some day, the world of AC is great and should live on I think. They put a lot of work into developing characters and a good storyline that IMO are near worthy of a book or movie.
I don't think they should make another attempt on a game with the AC name. I think one day they should come out with a new name mmorpg with somewhat the same style as AC. Soloable, vast world, lots to explore, detailed quests and dungeon design, skill based system, etc.
How about BZ's Call? We all play 'baddies' like Shadows, and Virindi and fight the 'goodies' like Empyreans, Tumeroks, Lugians, and Humans. I can't stand to think Mites will be gone forever!

I did come back for about 6 months. I still think the game is fun, but it's just not a great game anymore unfortunately. Everyone that stuck with the game is of course very high level and have multiple characters at those levels, which is definately made easier by bots. I just couldn't see myself trying to continue to make the game more fun. Just kinda lost interest. Still think AC is in the top 5 of MMO's out right now. It's still better than most after all this time. I've just found a couple more entertaining ones for me.
An AC3 might work if it's on a different continent on Auberean. Dereth is only a small percentage of the planet. If they keep the same core game mechanics such as strong soloability with fast paced combat, fighting tons of monsters at once, vast spell system, monthly patches, detailed dungeon design complete with traps, puzzles, and varied environments, huge landmass, skill based character advancement, etc.
Then they could make newish graphics, and they could even bring back spell research if they did it properly. I am a programmer, and I know that a common problem with algorithms for random numbers is that someone could figure out the algorithm and anticipate the spell components needed for a spell. What if they reseeded the seed value every week and adjusted the algorithm for random numbers? Then it would be impossible to create a program such as Split Pea and anticipate the spell components needed to learn a spell.
