I have not had the time to make any posts about the game since I am having such a great time with it. Since there is the scheduled maintenance atm, I want to provide some information for those among you who have not purchased the game and are waiting for next paycheck or for the game to mature / get fixed, etc.
Crafting system in ESO is built around a few pillars, without which you could not be the best. One of these pillars is the trait system and the set items that you can create as a result of your progress in researching the traits.
Trait research takes real life days to finish. In order to make a 5 piece end-game crafted set, you would need to get 8 traits researched on each of those 5 items. That research for each will take roughly 50 days, so with the upgrades and multi researches, for 5 items you would need around 100 days of research.
Some players are chewing through the content like locusts, not reading the text, not checking what is around the corner, not exploring and rushing to end game. Unfortunately you cannot take a shortcut in this trait research. This is the way Zenimax intends to keep ppl sub, with the super long research times that you need to start asap.
So you need to start early!
The perhaps more important reason to start now, rather than later is hirelings. The way hirelings work is, they send you a box with crafting mats 24 hours after you open the previous box. They have levels which can be upgraded through skill points and increased levels give you better chance at more rarer mats.
Here is the catch: People make 7 alts and spend the 3 free skillpoints (you get them as a result of skipping the tutorial) in 1 hireling each in woodworking, tailoring and blacksmithing. Then you log on those 7 alts every day at the same hour and you get 3x7 = 21 boxes delivered to your MAILBOX. Now the fun part. You do not open those boxes on those characters with 1st tier hireling. You keep the 21 boxes in the mailbox, log on your uber main with 3/3 tier hirelings. This way you get amazing crafting mats including the blue and purp upgrade mats and those ultrasuper ORANGE/LEGENDARY upgrade mats that cannot be found in the world (other than as a chance in extracting from the raw ore).
This way, I have been stockpiling dozens of orange crafting mats for tailoring, blacksmithing and woodworking.
EACH DAY YOU DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME, BECAUSE YOU THINK ONE MONTH FROM NOW SOMETHING WILL BE BETTER, YOU ARE MISSING A DAY WITH 24 ATTEMPTS AT ORANGE CRAFTING MATS.
So if you are considering playing this game, start now, level up a main to lvl 30's and keep the hirelings working. You will feel very sorry later that you have not started that trait research or hirelings earlier. Sure its $15 a month to keep this benefit, but if you cannot afford that, you have nothing to worry anyway.

I agree
Once they put in housing, thieves guild and dark brotherhood lots of people will be jumping on board. But they will be starting from the beginning.
Start playing now, gather your gold, level up that horse, collect your resources and prepare for these releases.
Was it because every 5 levels of crafting you had a quest to do? Or was it from the trade center leves? I did like how you could use your skills to make HQ items though. I found eso crafting to be a breath of fresh air with how simple it is. Get a bunch of items break them down rinse and repeat. Crafting in ff14 was a bit more work for someone as lazy as me.
I think it was the fact that it requires a lot of work. Every crafting class is integrated in some way. Also, the materia system adds a whole new level of depth to crafting. You need to interact with other players (or level all the crafting classes) in order to make the really good stuff. I love it.

Being at the mercy of a materia melder to try and socket my pvp gear was a nightmare. So many fails trying to overmeld haha. ESO has gylphs which don't have a fail rate when applying one (way more forgiving on my gold supply)
This part is incorrect. I have had more than one of the same boxes from the same character. I forgot to open the previous ones and I recevied new ones in mail the next day.
I also liked that you could main as a crafter. No need to level an adventure class.
OP: sorry, but what is interesting on crafting style of get-mats-then-click-one-button?
i agree that ffxiv crafting is imo a lot better.
I don't know if they keep it or changed but I liked hte craft on FF14 on his first launch, like make the parts then assemble everything together.
for eso, mostly you will just will want the one who gives the bonus to armor for crafting, course you can find forges around who can request you a certain number of researches open to be possible to craft it you ahve 1 slot per craft and the first upgrade will need 12 hours then the next will need 24 and so on the more upgrades you need to open more time it will require, but the time is based on how many upgrades you have on that part so you can open on gloves 2 parts and have only one part for armor and none for helm.
but here is the thing, even if you wanted to have craft you can spend points to amke your researches faster and work on more then one.
but in the end unless the last uber tier of gear require the owner craft it, you can always buy it from a crafter who wanted to do this chore.
also on the op idea of using all your chars slots to let hirelings send you mats, first it will be bad for altholics, also you will need to lvl it till lvl 5 I belive, and crafting, save for provision, is a pain in the ass to lvl you will need a lot of mats just to lvl it, with you can and also when the devs notice this kind of exploit, they will fix, and since you can break gear for the mats you can just farm for gear to break.
TLDR version
if the only reason for you to start this game now is because of the crafting, you shouldn't bother to look at this game again, because he sure don't have anything good on you and if you wait you can always ask for a crafter or buy it from a crafter if you decide tehy fixed the game enough to start to feel playable.
my opnion on eso is, its the same as the toehr elder scroll on the technical lvl, full of bugs, annoying and needs a lot of improvements, but the main thing here is no mods can fix this game, and its not a sandbox, because really only way to make any of the elder Scrolls playable without bugs, crashes and other annoyances by crappy coding is the mod community who fix teh damn game for the devs whoa re incapable of doing so
It's not a race to legendaries imo, if someone wanted to race everyone else to legendaries they would have been at the early launch.
In EVE online you have time based character progression and it's still perfectly fine even if you jump in to that old horse today, you dont need best of the best skills and shit the first day you log in, or even in the first week (looking at you reviewers crying about horse costs, fast horse is supposed to be a long term goal you angry instant-gratification turds).
But it's a good tip in case someone did not know this and might want to start stockpiling stuff for whatever reason.
