Welcome back into the world of ArcheAge! Last week I gave you a fresh look at ArcheAge after having played it for a few hours. Since then I've gone gliding, explored further, quested more, and of course got my hands on the crafting system. In terms of news the only new thing we've gotten was last week when Trion Worlds announced their three Founder's Packs.

ArcheAge is a very nice game. Unlike virtually every other modern MMO, it feels like it was made for adults. There is some complexity within AA that brings back the SWG-like smile.
founder packs are a rip off to humanity.
The game will be ready maybe in 1 -2 months, wich means they already played alot and burned them before even the game started. So is this 3 months patron thing a waste of money, since i do not belive minority of those buyers will play the game that long.
Its a shame people do not think forward, instead just trying to increase their quality of life in a short manner. You pay 150 Dollar for a game you are supposed to play 3 months - to be at least worth. Those buyers do not even know if the money is worth in the long run- they just fell for a cheap marketing tactic. Many will probably quit after the first month, since they are already playing it for so long in alpha- like we have seen it in every mmo in the past 15 years, many of the open beta will lose interest.
To bad people get easly manipulated.
Trion this time, is just the publisher wich also means- we will be the last ones getting the updates.
Atleast this one's different.
As for me, it's going to be the PVP. I love the features AA offers like the mounts, pets, gliders, houses, boats, farms, etc. But since the PVE looks lackluster, and i prefer pvp, it has to be good.
I will wait for the game to release as I have a main game I'm playing but for someone who don't have one then I'm sure the founders pack is a bargain.
"mmorpg.com forum admins are all TROLLS and losers in real life"
My opinion
Been playing since the Russian beta, I'm excited to start a new character on alpha and will be even more excited when the servers go live.
No need to say "this one has potential" it's already really solid.
After putting lot of thought, I decided to go for the founders pack since I am planning on playing it for several months and could not wait any longer to try it after waiting for 3 years.
I am loving the game so far. Finally a vast seamless world to explore and so much to do in it, including world pvp, sailing and role playing...
I hope Trion take the right decisions to make this game a success in the west.
It does seem...'less asian' then games like Aion and especially TERA
Bought the £40 founders pack and cannot wait for beta...
Been watching this for years....
The Archeum pack is actually excellent value for money. Most of the people criticising the cost probably haven't even bothered to research exactly what you get for your purchase. The alpha server will be running 24/7 until release for a start. Full release of the game is not likely until much later in the year so that gives you probably at least four months of playing the game included in the price you paid. Once the game does release, you have 90 days of Patron status included so that's probably another three months of no extra cost, Finally there is a huge amount of inclusive points that can be spent in the cash shop, so even if you don't renew your patron status, you can probably play for even more months without needing to spend any more real life money.
Compare that with the old fashioned model of a £60 retail box followed by $15 per month subs and I think the AA Archeum deal easily comes out on top for anyone expecting to play for more than a few months
Whats group PVE-combat like? Are the fights pre-choreographed trinity style and will play out the same every time you do them? Or will you be forced to make tactical decisions on the fly every now or then? I'm not a very big fan of Trinity combat and that has kept me from playing lots of MMORPGs since I played WoW a bit when it was first released.
If the game is good, I could learn to put that behind me very quickly.
As far as the Founder's Pack?
No. So many reasons not to.
i got the 150$ alpha pack 2 nights ago.
Such a great mmo, it has everything you would want in an mmorpg. Its the first mmo ive played since the old WoW days, i have the same feeling that i had when starting WoW. i can`t wait until it`s release so everyone can really see how good this game is.
The game visually looks stunning...
On paper, it sounds interesting...
Everything stops here though. I have tons of reservations that are keeping me from jumping on this game. All of my issues can range from it not doing well in Korea to only seeing people dancing on cars whenever I tune into a stream. If this is a community driven game, I can't help but be skeptical. After all, the NA community has always been the worst kind of player base to ever play with.
Nice try, but no.
One key thing is "expecting to play". There are numerous games I expected to play for months. hell I once bought a 180 day sub for a game I was having a blast in only to get bored and quit 3 weeks later. The odds are that the majority of the founders will not play 3 months at launch regardless of how much they love the game. Games often look enticing at first but then the warts show with time. And those 'warts' might not be bad things, just bad to that person. Such as the forced PvP to do anything worth doing in the upper levels. Some will LOVE it, others will find that it ruins the fun of the game. And of course both viewpoints are valid.
but the simple fact that no one can reasonably expect to want to play for 3 months after launch no matter how they feel about AA today.
And dont try to sell me on the alpha play time, because character progression is wiped. And those cash shop points? We dont even know what they are for.
Is it the worst founder pack know to man? No, it would be perfectly acceptable for an indie f2p game. Is it a little ridiculous to make the package 150 considering the games has revenue streams? absolutely.
ArcheAge peeked my interest when I was still playing Lineage II, but I knew back then that it would take years before it'd hit the Western market. When I heard about the founder packs I had to think twice about the $150 purchase, but I bought it.
Now that I'm playing, this game indeed has quite a lot of features that I've missed in other MMORPGs since I've quit playing Lineage II. It has similarities to that game and yet is a whole different game on it's own.
