It will be with painful thoughts that fans of World of Darkness check out the leaked images from the now-cancelled title by CCP Games. Rock, Paper, Shotgun is showcasing several screenshots and other information about the game.
The playtest manual is from March so, assuming it’s real, the decision to cancel really was recent. It was clearly still early days for the game, incomplete and bugged, but many of its ideas seem settled.
The manual explains a fair number of these. It teaches about ‘Paths of Enlightenment’ which seem to be analogous to traditional MMORPG classes and roles (rather than morality codes, as in the tabletop RPG), and how to gain ‘Essences’ which boost these by tracking and feeding from certain types of mortal. We learn about turning NPCs into ghouls to have them complete missions, and jockeying for control of the hunting grounds which let players benefit from others’ missions. It tells us about how XP gain would’ve been a bit EVE-y, offering a certain amount per day if players have enough blood to buy them, and saving any missed points from past days in case they have a windfall of vitae.

It looks so good. Such a shame...
yah screenshots- game looked horrible, good call to cancel this turd....
hey listen, watch some 'vampire diaries' play a little TSW afterwards...and call it a day ok!?
this poorly looks like a TSW knock off. (which btw is my fav mmo).
What usually happens in a case like this?
Do the Art asset's etc. get put on a drive and thrown in a drawer? or do developer's actively try to sell the completed work to try to recoup some of the cost's?

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

It's not common for a cancelled project to be picked up by someone else. CCP might try to incorporate the art into something else, but given their track record since EVE, I'd say there's a good chance the assets will sit completely unused and nothing will ever come of them.
I would not hold your breath. Developers don't publically drop a project unless they don't plan on doing anything with it. Though, maybe CCP will take the role of publisher and another developer will take a stab at it. Yeah, and maybe I'll become a world weary vampire sitting on several lifetimes' worth of wealth.
I was looking forward to this too.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

@ orbitxo. Your either a troll or you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. WOD has 20+ years of history behind the IP. Everything in the media about the supernatural has integrated some lore from WOD. Movies, tv shows, games. And to let you in on a little secret; the very concept of TSW is a knock off of WOD. Kids.
